TEG's post from 5/28 9:09am in IE9 is just one big "empty" ... in FF4 it displays fine. There's a message at the bottom in IE9 "Internet Explorer has modified this page to help prevent cross-site scripting".

Edit: so now that I have watched the video ... not a big deal, but at 0:17 the Volt is shown without its charge-port and the LEAF is the proto-type (with the "angled" mirrors). Still ... a nice concise summary.

Low amps seem to be the norm for J1772 in Japan. For instance, Leaf with 3.3kW onboard charger. If you want quick, use one of the existing CHAdeMO.
That Toyota EVSE seems like it might be geared towards public/commercial installation with features like remote monitoring, and industrial looking housing.
It also supports instant payments using Sony FeliCa cards.

How much does a public ChargePoint or Blink cost?

They wanted the electricity to cost as much as gasoline, so they're charging for it up front.

The other oddity for Japanese current is that 1/2 of the country is 50 Hz, and 1/2 is 60 hz. How crazy is that !!!!
