What's this pump and why is it always running?

Left front under the car with coolant hoses attached. Running all the time even when not plugged in. Range went from 25 to 15 miles from just sitting all day. I'm more concerned its wearing itself out. What is it for?

2013 with a bad battery. And get a message saying charge door is open even when it's closed.

i've heard old ones run pumps for any SOC over 70%
another reason is if one pump is dead or fuse is burnt other pump will constantly run

I think you might want to fix your battery first and then worry about the pump later.

I guess a car with a 1 gallon gas tank is still a car at the end of the day. Maybe brain is on to something the other pump is bad?

Do you have scanmytesla? Does service mode show any errors related to pumps?

I think it is the coolant pump. There are all sorts of thermal warnings in this list.
