https://www.thestreet.com/tesla/news/is-warren-buffett-secretly-buying-tsla-stock-berkshire-hathaway It is possible that they already have.

Assuming they have not:

Following Munger passing away, the following could be true:
  1. Munger was against the purchase freeing Buffett to go ahead
  2. Buffett was against the purchase but could buy in Munger's honour
  3. Both were against but Buffett can now buy without loss of pride
  4. Buffett hands over more powers to his colleagues in the near term who could buy TSLA
Optimistic?

The are bean counters. Good ones, for sure, but they have no technology farsight. They will not buy TSLA.

I tend to agree for the present. Once Tesla is much more established and has robotaxis on the road earning hundreds of billions of revenues and are looking to offer dividends to share holders, only THEN would BH most likely look to invest. Tesla today does not fit their investment profile, even without Munger.

As someone who knew and worked with Munger for forty years, I can tell you that Berkshire would not buy Tesla at this valuation ... and with this CEO.

It's not that they are allergic to tech. They were very early big investors in BYD and are one of Apple's largest shareholders.

They look for sensible valuations ... and CEOs that don't publicly tell other prominent CEOs to "go f*ck themselves."

To some, Elon is a true believer in the American spirit and knows the importance of the Constitution. He's a fighter for good over evil. To others, he's a person that seeks truth, can't be controlled or bought off. To them, they don't light fighters. It goes against their fabric and smears their agenda for power & control. Not investing in Tesla is evidence of what side of the fence they are on.
