When will there be a 48v Model Y?

I wondered about that. You think they'll convert the 48v down to 12v for external accessories (e.g via the round cigarette lighter)?

Or do you think they'll just expect people to wait for new 48v accessories to be made?

I think they'll eventually replace the 12v round outlet with USB PD, even on cars that remain 12v based. That way accessories can negotiate the voltage that makes the most sense. The latest version can deliver 48v and up to 240W.

I think the new accessory power standard will be USB-C and the 12V cig lighter will be forgotten.

It’s a valid question for car geeks. But While 48v is awesome from an engineering perspective, it doesn’t affect user experience.

How is it a valid question for this forum? As I said no one here knows, only Tesla knows the answer. And any answer here is just a guess.
