I believed that BS too until the paint(which is supposed to be thickest and best quality)from my China built M3 chipped in first week of ownership LoL.

He probably says that to appease the Chinese officials

Just like tire punctures. Paint chips happen to any car including a Bugatti or Rolls Royce.
I think the general sentiment is that build quality of Giga Shanghai is higher than Fremont. I can attest that from my experience comparing a Fremont built Model Y and a Giga Shanghai built Model 3. YMMV.

True, other than 1 the odd paint chip overall the car has been solid, not sure if US built cars have different experience is what I meant

I didn't say the quality is low. I said China hasn't SHOWN that it can make high quality cars yet. Applying your logic about Apple is irrelevant because China has made high quality telecom for YEARS. This topic is about fit and finish on Tesla cars, which Tesla DICTATES. This debate isn't about the quality of raw materials sourced in the 2 regions; it is about things like QC, which AGAIN, is TESLA's process. this isn't outsourced. Rumors can have life but there needs to be data. The data we have is that the Panasonic batteries outperform the LG ones. That's the ONLY difference we know about

Go check BYD Seals or Xpeng reviews on Youtube out in Europe. Those cars are very nice for the price.

Maybe MIC cars have higher profit margins as well so best quality for their bottomline.

Yeah based on the fact that the ones made their have inferior performance and range than the ones made in US, that seems plausible
