What is the benefit of moving to electronic latches? I noticed that the new etron has them too which I find disappointing. It certainly isn't to save weight or complexity because it seems as though they are required to still run an emergency latch mechanism for power failure. So why even bother with the electronic latch? I really wish Tesla (and others) had kept some things simple.
