Winter tire pressure

If you are inflating indoors (like a garage) and it's very cold outside, you need to increase the pressure because the air will shrink. When it's well below freezing don't inflate outdoors because the water vapour in the air will hold the valve open and all the air will escape. Always use a valve cap that seals (it will have a rubber seal inside) to prevent air loss.

Tesla specs 42 psi or 45 psi depending on whether you are running 19" or 21" rims.

This is the COLD temperature; set it when the car has been sitting for a few hours. Also you should adjust the pressure periodically as it is temperature sensitive - try to maintain the same cold pressure throughout the year. When the tire is warm after driving the pressure can be 2-3 psi higher.

You can raise it a couple of PSI to reduce drag and increase range slightly, but this will also reduce tire grip so reduces your safety margin a little. It might cause very slightly more wear in the middle of the tread also. Personally, I try to stick to the manufacturer recommendation.
