Would the ProClip phone mount damage the dashboard long term?

I just received ProClip phone mount for the refreshed Model X. I like the position and it’s really sturdy, however it bent the dashboard more than I thought it would be and leaving quite a bit of gap. Would this damage the dashboard after removing it few years down the road?

I just installed mine in my car last MXP last week. I thought the same, but figured worst case scenario is replacing that trim in the future if I ever needed it. My wife has the fattest phone case that the ProClip mount holds nicely..

I kinda want one of these; but hate the look of that gap, I had one years ago in a Audi Q7 that did the same making a big gap in the trim and couldn't stand it. Regardless, here we are years later, any updates on how this held up? I almost think a little insert further down to make it "level" would be better than leaving a big gap right at the mount.
