I ordered one of these seat covers after seeing this thread, since it seemed like something that would be useful for me during the summer. I received it today and after testing it out a bit, I think I got a defective one and will be returning it.
I installed the cover on the driver's seat right away and it was easy enough to install. My car was outside and after installing it, I went back inside for 5~10 minutes before getting back out to the car to drive around the block to test things out. I felt the fans were more noticeable against my butt than I was hoping they would be, but it wasn't outright uncomfortable. The fans were running and I thought the noise was acceptable. I wasn't sure if it was pumping enough air to dissipate all the heat under my thighs, but it seemed to be doing OK. The issue I noticed was that the control buttons felt really hot initially. I thought maybe because the car interior got hot, but it was almost too hot to touch. While driving around I kept touching the control buttons and it did cool down. So after driving around the block a bit I thought the seat covers seemed to meet my expectations. However, after getting back inside, I kept thinking about the hot control buttons so I decided to check them again after about 5 minutes or so. Unfortunately, the buttons felt pretty hot again. I turned the cover over and could feel the actual seat surface also being really hot. The back of the control box also look like it may have been heat warped or something (picture below), although I didn't look at it before I installed it so I can't be sure.
Another issue I noticed while getting in and out of the car multiple times is that the fans would come on (or already be on) when I open the doors (fans were set to automatic). But the lights on the control box were all off. It would return to normal operation after I sit on it then get off, where the lights would then come on.
So my copy seems to be screwed up. I'm glad I caught it before it potentially burned a hole on my seat. Hopefully the return process will be smooth. Unfortunately even though I think this should be a good product for the summer months, I don't think I want to risk it moving forward.
