Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

@daktari Interesting points and hearsay over on the Model S range and interior update imminent? thread. This again would certainly fit with your speculation above that a Model S/X facelift due to WLPT certification should happen by September 2019. Of course, the Electrek rumor of interior...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

Over on the Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD thread @daktari made the discovery that Tesla has probably not certified Model S and X for WLTP yet, which would possibly only be possible if they are "end of series". This would apparently give Tesla...

European Model 3 CCS plug: could it be sign that US Superchargers will offer CCS plugs?

Perhaps the only compelling reason to change the port entirely. And indeed this may be why Tesla did so in Europe, given that the European Mennekes derived port probably is not enough for Supercharger V3... But in the U.S. to add a secondary CCS port next to the proprieatary Tesla port...

Great points @daktari, thank you. There was the S130 rumor even... Definitely if much/most/everything happens that has been speculated e.g. in this thread (a summary of mine quoted below), it sounds like it could be called a "new series" for WLTP purposes.

Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

Here are some pros and cons to my speculation above, that Tesla could consider or introduce a Model 3 like flap in Model S/X, as well as dual Tesla + CCS connectors underneath in the U.S. for S/X/3 (in Europe of course only CCS as we know, but U.S. is a bit different...): Cons: - Dual...

European Model 3 CCS plug: could it be sign that US Superchargers will offer CCS plugs?

Yes, the Chinese setup (corrected link to a pic of it) may well technically be the simpler one. That said, I am not convinced such technical considerations would stop Tesla from going the dual connector route in the U.S., if they otherwise felt it made sense... for example, to make best use of...

European Model 3 CCS plug: could it be sign that US Superchargers will offer CCS plugs?

I made a mock-up recently what a U.S. Model 3 would look like with both Tesla and U.S. CCS connectors. They should fit similar to China where Model 3 gets dual connectors underneath the same flap. Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

@lunitiks Here is my mock-up of what a Tesla charge port with dual ports could look like in the U.S. On the left a proprietary Tesla port and on the right a U.S. CCS Combo 1 port. Of course in the case of Model S/X this would require similar expansion of the charge port area as illustrated here.

    What's on the horizon/Refresh?

@emmz0r @AMPd @J.J. Latest (but a bit aging) rumors suggest that Model S would still get a, perhaps somewhat smaller, instrument cluster. It can be seen in these images quoted below (click the quote to expand). Quote from the Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big...

Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

So, Tesla did this in China (unlike Electrek says I don't think it is Chinese + Tesla connector but actually two Chinese connectors, but it is still illustrative): Any thoughts as to whether Tesla might do a CCS + Tesla connector combo in the U.S. to tap into all that Electrify America...

    What's on the horizon/Refresh?

My speculation is all explained in the post and thread. :) Every item is based on rumors, leaks and analysis, it doesn't come from thin air, though of course it can be wrong or representative of plans that since then have changed for example. It is certainly wholly speculative. But basically...

Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

One more thought: I think Elon Musk's comments represent interesting time-capsules into Tesla's plans at various points in time. From the likes of the ones preceding "AP 1.5", to the spaceship controls widely believed to have been related to an augmented reality HUD intended for Model 3 (then...

Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

I agree AP2/2.5 HW3 retrofits may face a delay after HW3 introduction at factory, unfortunately. I also agree Model 3 retrofits may be harder due to the cooling system. I wonder if that played at all into Tesla's decision to limit FSD sales this autumn with the Design Studio removal. After all...

    What's on the horizon/Refresh?

My latest analysis here: Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD post #202 TL;DR summary: 1st: Supercharger V3 2nd: Autopilot HW3 3rd: 2170 battery in Model S/X 4th: Model S/X interior refresh 5th: HUD (uncertain)

Rumor summary: Blind-spot cameras, Rain sensing, Level 3, Big battery, Interior/HUD

Not quite. I take it that @MXWing is talking of the time before HW3 is retro-fitted into those 2018 Model 3's with the FSD option pre-purchased? New buyer that did not "loan" Tesla the money getting features before the older owner who pre-paid, just because they got HW3 hardware sooner from the...
