    Trailer hitch on 2021 refresh?

Hi all. I unfortunately didn’t search very well and didn’t find this very informative thread before I started another one. I’ll figure out how to close it later. But just wanted to thank all the contributors of this thread for their input. Curious as someone mentioned on my new thread that...

Installing a hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on Model S.

I think the manual is similar to the US version. Still. That warranty thing would be enough to shut it down for me. Too bad. The S is a nice car. Would have been nice to have a tow package. Cheers.

Installing a hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on Model S.

That’s a good point. I think S’s have a tow rating in Europe (not sure) so wonder how that fits in.

Installing a hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on Model S.

Yah maybe. We took one for a test drive at the Kelowna tesla event a few weeks ago. Kinda prefer the S and Y driving experience but we’ll see. It’s a couple years away.

Installing a hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on Model S.

Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone has installed a trailer hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on a model S. It would have to be able to haul 3500 pounds and deal with 350 pounds hitch weight. We are considering a model S for our next tesla but it needs to be able to tow our little teardrop trailer...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Not sure. But if that’s the case where will Canada get its model 3’s from? Right now all 3’s and Y’s in Canada come from Shanghai.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I wonder if Americans will be able to import the highland model 3 from Canada. All model 3’s and Y’s in Canada come from Shanghai so I suspect we will see them here as soon as the existing inventory is gone. Should be interesting.

Nice, and thanks. It was a lame attempt at humour but nice to know there is a model Y update coming. 2026 would be perfect for us. 😂
  9. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Can we please get a rumour started that suggests the model Y is the next in line for a make over giving it 600 kilometers of range and the tow capacity of a model X? That and a charge rate improvement of 50 percent. Feel free to add anything else to the rumour with the hope that it becomes...

Divide WLTP by 1.12 to get EPA. (Roughly).
  11. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Two questions come to mind. 1. Is that 610 kilometres EPA or WLTP range. 2, will the model Y eventually get a similar update and range extension. In Canada now an AWD is only 497 kilometres as we only get the Shanghai version. In a couple years we will probably update our Y but would...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I hear that a lot. I’m starting to think that results may be very regional. Everyone we talk to here have the same failure issues as us. Darting into right turn lanes, stopping on train tracks at intersections, constant incorrect signaling. Gotta say that traffic circles are much better and with...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah 2 years might be a stretch. But I remember it 18 months ago. It still fails at all the same intersections every day for us. And it has reverted to stopping on the railway tracks at two key intersections in town. But yah. From what I can gather from others on this forum it works pretty good...

    FSD discussion

Yah it’s pretty good on the highway. But in the city it hasn’t moved the needle much in the last two years as far as improvements go. Until it gets cities figured out it’s not really a big deal in my opinion. Jmho.
  15. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think you are off by a few years on the latter. Then again there is a lot of pressure now to move the progress needle on FSD at a much faster rate than it has been. (Which has been very little at least for us). It wouldn’t surprise me to see more manpower put into this in the next year or...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

One interesting trend a few of us are seeing here on the local social media rags is the thought process that it’s best to wait a year or two before buying an EV until one can buy a GM, Ford, Rivian etc etc with a tesla plug. Especially the ford Mach E guys. The idea being that you’ll get a real...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It would be nice if those with white interiours were available in Canada. That and bring back a true towing package where one can install a brake controller and have an active charge line on the 7 pin trailer connector. Those both went away with the change to a 15.5 volt lithium battery. Not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Mornin all. I am noticing more comments on Canadian Facebook groups from future buyers waiting for the American made vehicles to be available again. Longer range, white interiour etc etc. Even political reasons. I’m sure it’s not a lot of people but am curious as to how that would come about...

    Western Canada Superchargers

We really need one on the beltway around the south of Winnipeg. Not sure what a good location would be though. Going thru Winnipeg is horrible.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yep. So much depends on where you drive as well. We live in a valley that if you go on a 100 kilometre road trip the conditions closely match EPA test conditions. Speed limits, amount of highway compared to city etc. It’s easy for us to achieve EPA range on that trip which we make quite often...

And it works. There is a market for a good looking high performance sedan like the model 3. That may change someday but right now the model 3 does ok in its market. I am curious what the Mexican made model 2 (or whatever they call it) will be. Little hatch? Smalller sedan? Time will tell.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed. FSD will come to fruition some day But these constant exclamations of “next level, mind blowing” etc etc are hurting the brand. Nobody believes them anymore and they are always disappointing. Give honest progress reports and indicate areas of improvement needed.

    Lol :). I hear ya. But it’s a garage thing. 👍
  25. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I see again the reference to the length. (This time that it will fit in a 20 foot garage). But has anyone actually got real measurements yet? (Our garage is bang on 19 feet).

I think seniors who have or are going to lose their license for medical reasons will find value in FSD. We are a ways away from that but are confident that by the time we get there we will be able to keep our independence and not have to deal with cabs, Uber type services etc. And many people...

Well, I don’t know if it’s dangerous. I follow the rules, both hands on the wheel and ready to take over. If one does that and remembers that you are always the driver I don’t think it’s dangerous. Jmho.

    FSD discussion

Close enough to what. My guess is you have never tried to cross town with FSD in operation. We are in a small town. Going from one side to the other without intervention (maybe 7 kilometres) would result in multiple crashes, massive fines and a mob of road rage drivers with pitch forks trying to...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yah I get that. But I know first hand some Canadians are putting their purchase on hold until they can order longer range models with white interiors etc. In the big scheme of things Canadas tesla sales are inconsequential any way but from a Canadian point of view its sad to see more and more...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Agreed. A solid 600 kilometre range model Y would probably find a market. We would jump on it. As it stands tesla continues to reduce the range of all it’s EV’s sold in Canada. Weird.
  33. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Hmm. The stated range is based on EPA test conditions in North America. Definitely easy to get EPA range if driving similar to those conditions.
  34. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I can see that. And agreed. All the specs are pertinent to the investment thread for competitive reasons.
  35. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Exactly. The Cybertruck spec and comparative performance is very pertinent to an investment thread. If someone wants to talk just about stock price go start a new thread. This is an investment thread.

Yah. Us too. We’ll wait for the longer range.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Seeing the first Cybertrucks in customers hands will be a boost to the brand for sure. But I am surprised we haven’t seen any pics of travel trailer towing testing. I would think a lot of Cybertruck owners will want to pull a small to medium sized trailer with their CT. Maybe in that 20 to 24...

Hopefully it will be easy and plug and play or the Cybertruck won’t be towing anything.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Well that’s good news. Are these voltage controllers easily installed as Tesla doesn’t install brake controllers. We installed our own.
  41. W

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I hope they include a built in brake control because as far as I know no one builds a 48 volt unit. It’s already a bit of a problem with the 16 volt LFP batteries as brake control manufacturers like Tekonsha don’t guarantee they will work on 16 volts. It will be interesting to see how this...

Chevron is already involved. And they have vacuums and window washer equipment at every stall. 😊. Used one today. Oh and they are trailer friendly for smaller trailers. (Pull in, back out). These are getting pretty common at chevron sites here in BC. Oh, and they are also co-located with white...

Nice. It would be nice if tesla could do some kind of over the air upgrade and get that to us. At least until they figure out what went wrong with TAC and FSD.
