What quality issues should you verify during delivery?

Only the most major stuff that you would actually refuse delivery for should be worried about although if you live far away from the SC it might be worth having them fix minor issues while you're there. It took me a while to see the glass imperfections in the windshield on our first S but...

Putting skis in the back of a Model S?

I've driven 55 with two surfboards but only went 35 with the 14 ft kayaking. No issues though with either. I don't know any specs for the glass roof. For what it's worth best thing about it is how quickly and easily it mounts, I can get to where I'm surfing, take off the surfboards, take off...

Putting skis in the back of a Model S?

I like the SeaSucker a lot - works well on the glass roof. I've even transported a 14' kayak on the paddleboard model.

    Tesla moments

That is perfect - I can't count the number of times I've parked at the far reaches of a parking lot, only to come back and find my car has attracted other cars like it was some sort of huge magnet.

    Nagshead charging?

I finally put my rental in VRBO, and it's starting to fill up for the holidays, but most weekends are still available. Feel free to contact me directly to book if you'd like to avoid VRBO service fees. Nature Lovers Wanted! Soundfront, Solar Po... - VRBO

    Any news on 100D uncorking?

My wife, a complete non "car" person, even remarked on how fast my 100D is today after she borrowed it because she "forgot" to charge her 75. It makes me want to hit red lights, so long as I'm in front. I LOVE silently leaving everyone behind!

Anyone else find their MX unlocked when they don't expect?

I found that my car had somehow switched off auto locking. Switched it back on, everything is fine.

Which has more rear set headroom; all glass or sunroof?

I'm 6'7" and we have both, and I definitely prefer the all glass roof. Only downside is the reflection from the ultra white seats.

Anyone else find their MX unlocked when they don't expect?

I have found our Model S open in the garage - I thought I'd left my key in it, but did not. Now I'm checking the app to make sure it's locked.
  13. OBX John

HomeLink stopped working - is this widespread?

I've had to hit the "learn" button on the garage door opener when ours seemed to forget. I wish Tesla would up the transmitter power - I have to be within 5 feet of the door for it to work reliably at our house.

Model S to Grid, coming any day?

My point is to enable car to home power, you'd have to give up local unlimited supercharging. Seems like a fair trade off. But it's only one of several possible solutions. Yes, people can be very inefficient when trying to save a few pennies. But that behaviour is easily countered by...

Model S to Grid, coming any day?

Using a $100K car to shuttle $10 of power from a supercharger to a house doesn't seem... efficient. I can't imagine it'd be a problem at scale, and if it were, enabling car to home power could come with caveats to eliminate the problem. Make users agree to limit supercharging at the same...

    AP2 AutoSteer swerviness...??

Just thought I'd note that the system did very well yesterday on a long curvy drive to the northern beaches on a two lane road - it started drifting a couple of times to the center, but for the first time, quickly corrected itself. I wonder if there is some sort of learning going on? I find it...

    AP2 AutoSteer swerviness...??

I noticed yesterday on 17.38 that autosteer really seems to prefer white lines, so much so that it will dive across a two lane road if it loses the center double yellow to go for the white line on the other side, or at least try to stay in the middle of the two outside fog lines. Definitely...

Ultra white premium seats stain resistant coating

I have the UW seats in our 100D, and tan leather in our 75. The UW is much more stain resistant. Two dogs and an 8 year old who likes Cheetos have proven the durability to me. The stitching will stain though, and they are also very reflective in the Full Glass Roof.

Dyson plans to launch electric car in 2020

    2014 MS 85 Upgrading to 2017 100D

I can't answer the first two, but the supercharging on a good charger will stay at 116kW until the SOC reaches 50% at least, then a slow taper. You'll notice a difference in the handling as well - it took me a while to get used to the torque steer, but I love the faster acceleration.

Tesla's Autopilot needs to be shut down and NHTSA needs to do their due diligence

They need to remove the accelerator pedal in all cars immediately! Someone may press it, and the car will become a DANGEROUS 5000 LB MISSILE!

Sunroof in the Triangle area? Can I take a look?

My suggestion is to go for the sunroof if you want a white interior - all I can see in the full glass roof is reflections of my seats because it's so dark.

Does anyone ever get rated range?

With my 100D, 74 seems to be the sweet spot as well. Anything above quickly drops range below rated, anything below doesn't seem that much more efficient, especially if I draft with regular traffic.

Wall Charger Installation Quote - Review

The convenience of the HPWC with a 24' cable cannot be overstated, but I think it can easily be run at a lower amperage that will stay within your existing capacity, and lower the cost of the line to the garage. As long as it finishes charging the car over night, you'll never need more. We...

    No more S75

I'd really like to drive the 75 with the added power - it took me a while to get used to the AWD feeling in our 100D. The steering is much more pure on our 75, just wish it was faster.

    Ultra White Seats

The Ultra White is great, but the stitching will still stain. Source - let my kid eat Cheetos in the front seat.

    Anyone Have 2 Model S's?

As you can see from my profile picture we have two white ones, a 75 and a 100D. We didn't want to stand out too much in our small beach town, and it's working, as most people are amazed when they see our garage holds two, not one. Just be sure to get the 24" cable on the Wall Charger. My wife...

EVs: Have We Finally Reached Some Sort of Mental Turning Point?

I think we have reached a "tipping point" where EV interest should start to accelerate. What you are feeling is the result of the positive press of late, but there may be some bias from self selection as we enthusiasts tend to read the most positive articles as well. The general public is...

    Nagshead charging?

Good electricians make about $100 an hour here. I'm a licensed General Contractor, and I'd be shocked ;) if you could get a 50 ft run of 50 amp for anything less than $500. The point I'm trying to make is there are not enough Tesla owners to make a dent in anyone's inseason income - those...

    Nagshead charging?

$40 a week is more than fair, but it's not enough to incentivise owners to add them. You might get one Tesla booking a summer if you're lucky, and it'd take a long while to pay back the cost of install. I'm betting the Super Charger in Point Harbor will make it a moot point - as a Tesla and EV...

    Nagshead charging?

I guess what I'm trying to say is you'd have to incentivize owners to go through the hassle of adding a circuit and offering the extra electricity. Adding a hot tub to a home should bring more income than it costs for example. The main problem is that they couldn't really charge anything extra...

    Nagshead charging?

Using an electrician, it's be $500+ to add a circuit, maybe as much as $1000 depending on the distance needed. Homeowners like myself need offseason rentals to justify it - we really don't worry too much about renting our homes during the high season, as they generally book solid each year...

    Nagshead charging?

The best location would be the Southern Shores Crossing shopping center, or the Southern Shores Food Lion shopping center; not much to do on the other side of the bridge. I guess the Indian restaurant there is okay and there are a couple of small stores, but they should move it up to Grandy or...

Is it safe to connect a large inverter to the 12V battery?

Doesn't using the car as a stationary power source void the warranty? I think it's crazy we don't have a nice 15 amp 120 volt Outlet standard though.

    Degradation of the Community...

You nailed it. It's not an echo chamber at all, it's actually much easier to hear other viewpoints when not wading through the snippyness. I agree with the other posters points about the ignore function not improving the tone overall, unless we can get those who like to go back and forth...

    Degradation of the Community...

Yes, the knowledge factor here at TMC is off the charts compared with Reddit or other forums. I think part of my problem is I usually look at the "new posts" feed here, and since the people arguing often keep those threads very active, I see a disproportionate number of threads that have...

How do you set up your Tesla for long trips? Sunglasses, coolers and app selections oh my!

I have a collapsible bucket I fill with basic tools like my impact driver, hammer, utility knife, pliers, screw & bit assortment, duct tape, No Rinse Wash, and microfiber towels. My tools and duct tape came in really handy when I ran over some aluminum road debris that cut part of the wheel...

    Degradation of the Community...

It was nice to see a respectful back and forth on this thread! Well done. I need to give TMC another chance, but with much more liberal use of the ignore feature for the few who can't help themselves.
