What income to afford a Plaid?

I agree here. Having the cash to just buy the car outright is not a problem. That's where the income/expenses component comes in to determine how quickly the "lost" cash can be made up.

What income to afford a Plaid?

I'm in a similar position, 500k, also with a model 3 SR which was like $40k new. I guess a Plaid is possible, not sure if it makes sense over an S or X LR though.

What income to afford a Plaid?

I think I'm just trying to justify the purchase since I've never bought a car at a 90-100k price point. Very roughly speaking (assuming no crazy expenses other than mortgage) what multiple of that purchase price should your income be? I see financial gurus seem to all have their opinion but...

What income to afford a Plaid?

This is a straightforward question. What yearly income do you think is needed to afford a new Model S or X Plaid?

New Model Y vs Model 3

Do you think upgrading from a 2019 Model 3 SR+ to a new Model Y makes sense? I would like more room in general and a quieter, smoother ride. How is the ride quality and general NVH in new production Model Y's?

12v battery issue, Tesla unsatisfactory response

Maybe we should just proactively be replacing the 12V battery every 1 or 1.5 years.

    Premium vs Upgraded audio

Does anyone here have an SR+ with an aftermarket upgrade?

    Premium vs Upgraded audio

You can apparently upgrade the SR+ audio to sound better than the stock LR system.

    MP Adjustable Comfort

I am interested in these coilovers if they really do improve the ride comfort. Can users who have it provide their experience? In terms of ride comfort, what stock car (non Tesla) is comparible?

    Need help with buying decision

I have a SR+ and don't miss the added range of the LR. It really depends on how you will use the vehicle. Do you take a lot of road trips? My commute is 30 miles each way (OC to LA). The fact that the SR and LR are the same basic car meant that I saved $10k (2019 prices). I feel that I got a...

    Unexpected Tesla Fans

The OC (socal) is full of model 3s, it seems like many of my neighbors have one. Some Model S and X as well. Infact one of my neighbors down the street has 2 model X! I also see a lot of model 3s on the OC to LA freeway route. One time I was in the carpool lane with 3 other model 3s back to...

    Continental EC DWS06 installed

Ya can you believe that? I felt like I was at a shady used car dealership. The guy was trying to argue with me about it. Then later on the techs seemed confused about how to jack the car up and the the whole process took almost 3 hours. Anyways, live and learn. BTW, I've used the DWS on my...

    Continental EC DWS06 installed

Just replaced my stock Michelin MX's with some Conti DWS06's in stock 18 " sizing. First impressions are very positive. The car feels more planted and the ride quality has definitely improved, feels more comfortable. This is the way the car should have come from the factory. The tire shop guy...

    Windshield damage

Just got hit by a rock on the freeway (the 57!) and I have a crack on the windshield. Great. Any recommendations on a good shop in the OC area? Anything special about the model 3 that I need to keep in mind?

    Service/Repair and Coronavirus shutdown

I've had my SR+ since March of last year and haven't had any problems with it until yesterday, right in time for the covid-19 shutdown. Does anyone know if the service centers (in Socal) are even allowed to open? The app supposedly scheduled me for the 25th, and I'm having visions of driving...

New Tesla? Nope, never again! Cherry Hill Tesla the worst.

I have had 3 BMWs...all required constant servicing, I would not recommend a BMW, unless it's a weekend fun mobile.

"Breaking Bad" - Daily articles now hitting the news wires

I know the car will be physically stopped by an object it crashes into, but what would stop an unintended "power" command? The drive motors would still be trying to turn until the power connection from the batteries were manually severed.

"Breaking Bad" - Daily articles now hitting the news wires

How did the car stop? Did she apply the brakes after hitting the garage door? If the car is accelerating by itself, what is stopping the unintended command?

Autopilot seems to bias M3 to the right side of the lane?

While using AP on the freeway (mostly in LA-OC area on the 405 and 5), I've come to realize how bad other drivers are around me. I routinely see drivers drift out of their lane, drive along the lane markers, tail gate, race, and incessantly change lanes. Most drivers seem to be using their...

NEMA 14-50 Plug Meltdown / Near Fire

I noticed that the voltage displayed on the screen of my SR+ while charging from a 14-50 outlet at home is around 232 to 234V. Is that too low? After reading this thread I'm thinking the safest option is just to install a Tesla wall charger. Can I have an electrician "convert" the newly...

NEMA 14-50 Plug Meltdown / Near Fire

I just had my 14-50 installed and will be using the latest mobile charger that comes with the 2019 model 3 (gen 2?). I'm trying to be vigilant and touch the charger and side of the socket to check for temperature. Do you think your socket was getting hot or warm to the touch?

    M3 SR+ Delivered!

The Model 3 is unbelievably popular here in south OC. I see them everywhere and the super charger network is constantly busy. I also saw like 5 or 6 Model 3s at my workplace parking! How can Tesla stock be sinking? The delivery center was also full.

    M3 SR+ Delivered!

Today I charged for the first time and it was at the Santa Ana Mall super charger. It only output about 30kW which I know is low (should be upto 120kW). I started the charging with about 60% so that and the fact that all chargers were in use probably affected the speed.

    M3 SR+ Delivered!

I just got my SR+ delivered yesterday and I never got a proper test drive prior to that. A test drive I took at the mall store left a poor impression. I was worried about ride comfort, autopilot performance, and interior space. I can definitely state that this car is revolutionary. The hype...
