Windshield damage

Just got hit by a rock on the freeway (the 57!) and I have a crack on the windshield. Great.

Any recommendations on a good shop in the OC area? Anything special about the model 3 that I need to keep in mind?

Hmm that seems obvious now that you mention it. I assume they work with insurance?

they do work with insurance, but it's a real pain.. Much easier to pay and get reimbursed from insurance if you are able to do so

How it comes out is also a luck of the straw.

Broken winshield wiper area clips
Scratched A pillar paint or worse
Water leaks and/or wind noise caused by bad replacement seals
Better or worse ghosting from replacement glass
Autopilot calibration relearn if they unplug the mirror assembly while replacing the glass
Other unrelated damage introduced while having the windshield replaced

So apparently I pay Tesla and then my insurance will reimburse me. I'm most concerned with what happens to the autopilot functionality...

Nothing. It will operate as designed but may need the few mile calibration if the installer unplugs the mirror assembly.
