    Performance 20" with wheels spacers

i think 15mm in the front is ok rear maybe will need 25mm. it all depends on the type of stance you want. Try to measure from your fender to the rim and see how much gap you have and then buy spacers from your measurements. I used a plumbob to measure from the fender to the rim.

Rumbling noise when braking after hitting a curb

Is the noise you're referring to the ABS actuating? The symptoms you are describing doesn't correlate to any curb damage.

    Performance 20" with wheels spacers

Those spacers would have your wheels sticking past the fenders about 12mm. I personally use 15mm in the front and 20mm in the rear. The front is just about flush with the fender and rear is slightly tucked in.

MPP AWD/Performance Coilover Impression and Installation

dfwatt, that nipple doesn't sit flush on the bottom of that cavity,. Inside the fork you'll see a tiny lip where it slides over the damper and meets a lip on the damper. Sorta like the L shape blocks from Tetris. If you look carefully through where the fork clamping bolts are, you can see where...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Thanks David for the info but at this point I’m beating a dead rotten horse. Tesla will pretty much do anything to find any reason to deny warranty claims.

Tesla doesn’t care and will not replace. Installing the mpp coilovers this weekend. F them. I’m done with his bs.

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

I only tested the rears because they take about 10-15 minutes to remove. Dyno results has already been posted but here it is again. First pic shows a good damper compared with mine. Same part number and revision. Second picture shows the dyno results of both rear dampers.

Performance suspension possible manufacturing defect and confirmed failure. Tesla will not fix.

Check this tread to get a background info. Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing. I don't know about the other models but if you have the performance version, your suspension might be bad. So far my and a friend's suspension is bad. Not too sure about the front but the rears are bad...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Car is at the service center. But I know I'll be happy with them. I hope to install them this weekend. Last update. I got a call from the service center. Told me that the dampers needs to be replaced but will not be covered under warranty because I have an aftermarket non tesla approved tow...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

The shop said its a twin tube design. I doubt they wore out but I do believe there was an internal failure. Either a fastener came loose, assembled incorrectly, or something broke. The comparison measurement is from another customer's damper. It has the same part number and revision. It is an...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

The red line is my performance dampers. The other line is a performance damper they have lying around in their shop. I don’t know how many miles it has but my dampers has about 8000 miles on it.

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Dropped off the dampers at the shop a few hours ago. Here’s the result of the first damper. The red line is my damper compared to the same oem performance damper at their shop. Yea, definitely looks normal.

Aftermarket Sub-woofer Amplifier Installation using DC-DC +12v Power Source

Yes. I'm using a 1.5ohm resistor. I also noticed today that the VCleft turns the amp off when on a phone call. I ordered a timer relay and will be using the oem amplifier's power source to turn on the aftermarket amp...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

1000lbs/in is just what someone who works at tesla told me. 1000lbs/in does seem high but not when considering the leverage or fulcrum the rear suspension arm has on the springs. Yes, I’m still waiting on the forks from MPP. I’m not in a rush though. I still want to test the oem dampers before...

Aftermarket Sub-woofer Amplifier Installation using DC-DC +12v Power Source

I purchased a 120A relay found here. I had my amplifier connect first to the dc dc converter but after about 4-5 months it disabled the car due to an internal error. Took it to service center and they changed out the VC left not knowing the cause of the problem was the amp. After I discovered it...

Still waiting on the front forks to install them. After getting the dampers dyno’d, I will send the info to Tesla and see if they’ll do anything.

What are the real differences in OEM M3 Performance suspension

I was told the springs are firmer along with the dampers. I have a thread going on my suspension which seems to have failed. Well it did fail but Tesla tells me it's normal. Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Does anyone here track how much data your Tesla uses?

How do you track the car's data usage at home? I'm curious because my car stays on for hours after parking.

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Part number on the damper shows 1044461-01-E and AQY182272A02380. Not sure on the springs but there is a tag with the letter "P" on it.
  33. M

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

I’m sure those old dampers from the early models are in a dumpster somewhere. I got a little inside info on the stock suspension. So the rear springs are rated somewhere around 1000 in/lbs and the dampers are stiffer than the non performance versions. I shouldn’t be able to compress and extend...

Rear dampers. It took about 5 minutes to remove and do a tug test. I’d like to borrow your damper if you’re not too far from where I am. Sending you a DM.

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

What you’re explaining is exactly what I’m experience. The rebound or the releasing/expanding part is under powered. I’ve already been on a test ride with the techs and all three said “that feels normal to me.” Unless the dampers were designed to be underpowered, it’s not normal. And a vehicle...

Coilovers (new suspension) will definitely fix this. Have you addressed your concern with Tesla?
  37. M

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

So went to tesla service and came back empty handed. It’s normal to their standards and “operating as designed.” I removed out the damper tonight and noticed the compression feels a bit soft (could be normal) but when I do a pull test to test the rebound valves, I was able to easily extend the...

jsimon7777, castro valley huh? I'm in San Jose. You're right, Tesla do change parts but it's not like they change parts every month. jsimon7777, lets try this. Compare the part numbers of our suspension, and if they're the same, I'll drive up to Castro Valley so you can feel my suspension. And...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

No I'm not an engineer, a spelling bee champion, or an expert on suspension. I never said I was an expert on suspension even though many of you stated that. The problem with my suspension is that the dampers are getting weaker and does a poor job controlling the rebound of the springs. I...

The grammar police got me. Or maybe it was the spelling police.
  41. M

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

Thanks jmaddr. With a weak damper, I wouldn't get lowering springs as it will accelerate the problem and worsen your handling. Coilovers will be better unless you're looking for a Cadillac soft ride. The way I see it is if you spend $400 on springs, you're gonna throw away $400 later and replace...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

No dfwatt, I am not kidding. I'll try too explain it a little more. The car is bouncy over large low frequency bumps. It feels like a used Toyota Camry when it use to feel more like a new Honda Accord. I bring those two cars up because Honda's usually have a firm suspension than a Toyota and of...

Suspension problems. OEM dampers are failing.

We can go for a ride, you can feel it for yourself. The only way I can explain it to a lay person is that there is more motion in the ocean. Its easily visible when you compare the horizon and the vehicle from the mirrors.

Thanks, I will try that. I just need another car to compare the data to.
