Wind noise - front window at B pillar

I went to Tesla last week and they agreed to repair it at no charge. They used a smoke machine to verify the leak, then replaced the door seal and adjusted the window. It seems quiet now, but I haven't encountered any winds yet. Btw, if your car was under warranty and they charged you for the...

Wind noise - front window at B pillar

2021 Model 3, I am experiencing wind noises where the driver's window meets the B pillar. Happens only a highway speeds, mostly 70mph+ in windy or semi-windy conditions. Difficult to demonstrate in-city, but it's quite common out of town. This is the third time the car is going to Tesla for...

    Can Auto Wipers Learn?

My auto wipers are terrible. They go to max speed when standing still in a drizzle, and then go intermittent when driving on the freeway in heavy rain. Sometimes they wipe, and do so repeatedly, in completely dry, sunny conditions. None of my last few non-Tesla cars acted this way. Did Elon...

    Calibrating Speedometer

Yes, but tire wear increases the overread because worn tires spin faster. Still, if the GPS system is periodically recalibrating the speedo, this ceases to be an issue.

    Calibrating Speedometer

Well, the technology certainly isn't that expensive. My bike computer measures the speed from a wheel sensor and periodically self-calibrates to within 1/10 mph using GPS. If car manufacturers can produce a vehicle that is stable at 150 mph, they can certainly develop an accurate speedo at...

    Calibrating Speedometer

Unless I'm mistaken, regulators only require speedos note to under-read. They don't require an overread. Instead the manufacturer to embeds a margin of error to avoid the issue. They could just as well provide something that is completely accurate and comply with the regulators.

    Calibrating Speedometer

Mine over-reads by 1 mph, which is much better than my previous BMW. The question is, why can't car manufacturers provide an accurate, calibrated speedo? How difficult can that be?

    Calibrating Speedometer

You mean they're not allowed to under-read.

    Body Shop in Los Angeles

Also in need of a body shop in Los Angeles. My wife's Y got hit. Any further comments on where to go? Damage isn't minor.

    Cannot complete call

When I want to place a call through the voice activation system, I frequently get the error message, "Cannot complete call." The phone has an established BT connection and I can place calls by physically picking up the phone (or using Siri). Once placed, the audio comes through in the car. I...

    iPhone key issues

I experience the same issues - I have to literally take the phone out of my rear pocket to unlock the car. iPhone 12, latest iOS, is set to Background App Refresh is On and Location is Always. Is this normal behavior, or can Tesla fix the issue? I have a 2021 Model 3.

EV Tax Credit before or after sales tax?

Guys, tax credits are treated like mfr. rebates when it comes to sales tax. I don't know what "before or after tax" means, but the credit does not reduce the tax. So if the car is $55k and the credit takes the price down to $45k, the tax still applies to the $55k figure.

Another Price Increase [Oct 2021 & Nov 2021]

Supply and demand 101 when you view Tesla in isolation, but buyers also have substitutes which includes other brands, or simply buying/keeping an ICE car. People will only pay so much for a Tesla before they decide it's not worth the premium. It's not "that" special any longer, and I bet lots...

Model 3 - Makes more sense to Lease vs Finance...here's the numbers

FWIW, my cousin leased his Model 3 two years ago. COVID struck, he's not accruing many miles on the ODO, and used car values have shot up. When his lease is over, he has no buyout rights and zero participation in the high resale value. Good reason NOT to lease with Tesla.

    Excessive steering wheel side-to-side movement

My 2021 Model 3 had loose, side-to-side play in the column as well. The first Tesla service center said it was normal. Second SC didn't waste any time and ordered a replacement column. Two days later they returned the car all fixed. Now the steering is tight and correct.

$175 "diagnosis fee" on warranty work?

My steering column is loose -- it has some side to side movement. Do you really think they have a sensor that can detect this?

I don't want aftermarket -- especially if they don't dim. Are there overseas suppliers of Tesla OEM parts that will ship?

    AP biases to the left

The concern is not the possible left bias, per-se, but how it causes the vehicle to be uncomfortably close to any barriers or posts along the left edge of the lane when the lane veers right.

$175 "diagnosis fee" on warranty work?

In 37 years of BMW ownership, I have never confronted a diagnosis charge except one time when it involved the removal of the transmission. Tesla now wants to charge me a $105 fee to test drive my Model 3 to check for an AP issue. Can this be legal?
  27. R

    AP biases to the left

Follow up question... Car is currently at Tesla service for the AP issue, among other things. SA states wheels must be aligned before further diagnostic work can be performed. I've declined, but requested that tech road-test vehicle to check if AP is really biased left. SA says I need to...

    AP biases to the left

Well, I haven't done so, but perhaps the better way is to stop on a quiet road and measure tire to lane distances. If the car is off-center, can Tesla recalibrate it?
  29. R

Exterior Mirrors -- OEM Export Version

Does anyone know where to buy Euro-spec exterior mirrors -- the auto-dimming kind for a 2021 US Model 3? Also, can someone confirm whether the mirrors are aspheric (meaning that the field of view becomes wider toward the outboard edge)?

    AP biases to the left

When driving in AP, my 2021 Model 3 feels like it drives slightly left of center in the lane. When driving in the fast lane on the freeway with a solid barrier on the left, the car feels uncomfortably close to the barrier, especially when the lane curves to the right. I re calibrated the...

    Turn Off Green Light Chime

How do you turn off the green light chime if you don't have FSD? I had a three-month FSD trial and turned the feature on during that period. Now that FSD is gone, I cannot seem to turn it off. Any suggestions?

    Autopilot Questions

Recent new owner, 2021 M3 LR-AWD, just took the first road trip between Los Angeles and San Diego. When I'm driving 70-80 mph and the freeway curves to the right or left, there seems to be a small lag for the Autosteering to catch up. For example, if the lane curves to the right, the car will...

Standard Range Model Y Currently Unavailable

We're in SoCal and my wife is looking for an SR MY. Local Tesla rep says all available cars are in TX and require transport (for a fee). From those who've dealt with this sort of thing, are there likely to be more cars released before they're gone for good?
  35. R

Model Y SR gone from options and LR dropped 1K?

My wife is looking for her first EV after I bought an M3 LR-AWD, and was interested in the Standard Range Model Y. Prior to Tesla withdrawing the cheapest version of the car, we felt they offered a compelling reason NOT to look at the Ford Mach-E or the VW ID-4, both of which inhabit the same...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

New to Tesla and I'm trying to wrap my head around the miles remaining on the display at the top of the screen. I have a 2021 LR-AWD and have a few questions. For reference, I charge at home to 90%. After the charge, the displayed range is typically 315 miles. 1) Is the displayed range...

    Spotify Sound Quality

I have a Model 3, LR-AWD with upgraded audio. Spotify music sounds a little tinny, nasal and compressed. I don't see a bitrate or sound quality adjustment, as I do on my iPhone app. I've played with EQ settings to no avail. Is there any way to get better sound out of the system?

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

New Tesla M3 LR-AWD owner here and have lots to learn, so please excuse the newbie question. Vehicle is about three weeks old and has around 300 miles on ODO. I live in SoCal. A few days ago, I charged the battery to 90% at home. Miles remaining after charge show as 315. The next day, I...

    Unstable Bluetooth Connection

It doesn't lose connection in the middle of a ride. It happened yesterday when the car wouldn't start without the Tesla keycard. I then went to the BT menu on my phone and could see it wasn't connected to the car.
  41. R

    Unstable Bluetooth Connection

That would be difficult because it involves using the phone for an extended period of time. My phone pairs up fine. It only loses connections on later days.
  42. R

    Unstable Bluetooth Connection

Well, all I can say is that the phone is fully on and not in any battery-saving mode. Moreover, the phone held BT just fine in my last car.

    Unstable Bluetooth Connection

New Tesla Model 3 owner with a '21 LR-AWD. I've paired up my iPhone 12 for calls, key recognition, texts, etc. Car seems to lose BT connection fairly often and has to be manually re-established. Is there any way to establish a more stable connection?

Model 3 loss of use claim

I fought and won both a DV claim and a loss of use claim against State Farm in CA on a BMW 5 Series. You have to read the statutes and interpretations in your state. However, I can tell you that an equivalent car is something of comparable value to your own. In the case of a BMW 5 Series...

    Model 3 bike rack

Picking up on this thread as I too need a way to carry up to three bikes on my 2021 Model 3. What are people's experiences with the Tesla-branded hitch -- the one they sell for $1,000 installed?

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

How do I know if my car has the updated headlights? I just picked mine up last week. Coming from a BMW with xenons, which produced a smooth carpet of light, Tesla's lighting pattern seems rather splotchy and uneven. Is this a known characteristic of the Telsa?

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Well lucky me. My car was originally scheduled for Monday delivery but got delayed till today (12/29) to fix a minor paint blemish. That put me right in the final three-day push.
