MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Respectfully you have an interesting theory but it just isn't correct. Can you point to any one of the tens of thousands of street and race cars who are running lugcentric and had a failure because of it? Regardless of whether you personally feel like it isn't "proper" it is safe and considered...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Hubcentric is nice to have not necessary especially for a track wheel setup. I have zero hubcentric spacers on my track wheels and there is no vibration. The car works fine just lugcentric.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I was able to fit 18x11s on my car. This is with mpp coilovers, borg motorsports front camber bushings, diy slotted rear upper control arms, and a very light fender roll. The wheels are konig hypergrams 18x11 +40 with a 21mm spacer front and anywhere between a 10-20mm spacer rear. I am running...

Are you sure that is true? They offer RV camping with 30 amp electrical hookups. So yeah if you plugged in without asking then that makes sense they would unplug you. But I am sure you could pay for an RV spot. In general don't plug in at a track without asking.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

If someone is looking for a project one thing the community could use would be a directory of race tracks and what plugs are available there. Like plugshare but race track specific. Not what is nearby but what's actually at the track and where. Recently I came across some nonstandard plugs at...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I installed the dorman 610-490 extended wheel studs all around in preparation for 18x11 wheels. The fronts are super easy, the rears were tricky. It seemed like there was only one spot where you can get the longer ones in and out and I had to grind a flat onto them as well. The picture shows the...

18x9.5 (40) and 18x10.5 (25) do not fit on the front of the Performance Model 3

I run a 18x10.5 ET25 with no spacer. Also we have multiple other threads going with this info and it would have been better to put it in there. Would have also been nice to list what wheel is was since this is a hit or miss issue. And it would have been nice if the OP had tried a small spacer...

SCCA Autocross Class for the Model 3

So here are the prototype front camber bushings that borg motorsports has been working on. With these and my slotted rear arms I now have a good amount of negative camber and am ASP legal.

Track Mode Request - Limiting Power (Due to Lack of Charging Options)

Proposed NASA Time Trial EV class

Honestly it is way better for us to be put in our own class in NASA. We don't accelerate the same way as an ICE, we have amazing acceleration from 40-80 and terrible acceleration over 100. So on a short really tight track we are way faster than on a long high speed track compared to similar ICE...

Global Time Attack Road Atlanta Build - May 2020

If you wanted to do it DIY then you could just epoxy the rebound knob pretty easily. Might even be able to carefully undo it later. If you wanted to get MPP to make you another set of shocks just have them make the comforts with the adjustable shaft from the sports which would get you rebound...

Ok update I purchased and have been successfully running 10.5 inch wheels. Konig Hypergram 18x10.5 ET25 with Bridgestone RE71 275/35-18 So far no rubbing and I am not running any spacers. I have coilovers but no other camber mods. I don't think this would work without coilovers. Also I would...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

For those people wanting to run SCCA ASP class I found a solution for the rear camber adjustment by slotting out the hole in the rear upper control arm. I used a mill to drill the second hole and then finished everything out with hand files. But you could probably just pay a machine shop...

Something broke, judder, warning lights, etc...

Once the upper control arm is disconnected it is easy to end up tugging on the sensor cable. The cable has rubber grommets on it that locate it and my initial impression was that the rubber grommets were bonded to the cable. They are not and with some force you can adjust the grommets location...

Something broke, judder, warning lights, etc...

Ok took it to the dealer and MasterC17 guessed it correctly. It was a wheel speed sensor cable that had been rubbing on the wheel/tire. Since the damage was very clearly caused by my modifications (which I do not dispute) it was not covered under warranty. New cable was $22 which I purchased and...

Something broke, judder, warning lights, etc...

I am a little worried about the fact that I have coilovers. It would suck to have a warranty claimed denied. But searching online I can't seems to find almost anyone out there where they have denied a warranty claim before for aftermarket parts.

Something broke, judder, warning lights, etc...

So I was driving away from my house the other day and got a bit of a judder. Then taking off from a stop sign the traction control cut power for 2 seconds. Not long after I started getting warning lights. I tried rebooting with the scroll wheels and brake pedal and there was zero change. I...

The only thing I want is a smoother ride

For those who want a Cadillac type ride drop the tire pressure way low like 30 or even 28psi cold. It also might be worth looking into if you can fit 16 or 17 inch wheels on the car and the run an even taller sidewall tire.

A few people here have been discussing the possibilities of getting wider wheels and tires under the Model 3 for track/autox use. So it is about time to start a public thread to see if the community has any good input. What we know fits: 18x9.5+35 with 275/40-18 19x10+30 with 275/35-19 The...

    3D Printable Ride Height Gauge

Is there much of a reason to measure the height of a stock car? These are intended for people with coilovers. But the STL files are public so it would be easy to modify and make your own design. Or just make a 10mm spacer.
  31. D

    3D Printable Ride Height Gauge

So I made a really quick design to make measuring ride height easier on the Model 3. You just print the 2 blocks stack them on top of one another and add the numbers together. The range is from 90-130mm. Here is a link to the files to print: Ride Height Gauge 90-130mm For Tesla by Davidss

Vendor Model 3 Öhlins DFV Coilovers - Engineered by Redwood Motorsports ™

This is a VERY "political" answer. So you have tested these coilovers at Laguna Seca, Sonoma, and Thunderhill? Or not? Are these coilovers even on a car yet? Can you walk outside your shop and take a pic of the car with the coilovers on it? Can you jack it up and take a pic of what the...

What are the QUIETEST 19” tires for aftermarket wheels?

Tire rack sells the tesla foam tires but they don't seem to list the 19" size. I would give them a call. Alternatively you could buy tires from a tesla service center.

Lightweight wheel owners - your feedback on unsprung reduction vs stock

Lowered Suspension Owners: Are Rear Toe Links Necessary?

    MODEL 3 RATTLE VIBRATION

Mine was not missing and clips. There was just some spot that it was hitting. I think the service guy stuck some foam in one spot and bent a tab. Modified Model 3 added to A Street Prepared in latest SCCA ruleset

    MODEL 3 RATTLE VIBRATION

I had a fender liner rattle on my car that sounded pretty similar to that. If you sit inside the car and have someone tap around under the fender liner you might be able to replicate it. On my car the rattle was VERY noticeable at certain higher speeds. I was able to get the service guys to fix it.

Best Tires/Wheels for Tracking Model 3

It's pretty common knowledge on some of the racing forums. But that tire had a major shortage when it first came out so a lot of people weren't running them a lot and it took longer than normal for info to trickle down.
  49. D

Best Tires/Wheels for Tracking Model 3

I would not recommend the Yokohama A052 for the Tesla. That tire does not like heat. The Bridgestone is a better choice for the model 3. (FYI - I do the tire testing for GRM magazine and a few tire companies)
