Summons crashed my car into a column

I definitely have a hate for most "it's beta" excuse posts, but damn man... wasn't it completely obvious from all the other news around smart summon that this feature is not ready for primetime? As far as responsibility, I think you just need to file the accident with your insurance company and...

    Pre-2019 HW3 upgrades

Hmmm... Number 1 makes me wonder if a car battery from an underperforming batch would only get compared against another car with a battery from an underperforming batch. Number 2 is fine, as long as the SC stops getting annoyed with people checking all the time and filing requests for HW3 upgrades.

    Pre-2019 HW3 upgrades

Traffic light and stop sign alerts don't work on HW2.5. That is more than just the visualizations. HW2.5 is incapable of recognizing them and warning the driver. i.e. no alert or any other notification.

For those of you that use TeslaFi with a model 3, would you mind sharing your sleep settings?

    Got a SR+ in September without HW3.0?

I know I didn't get any mats or cables. I would have to check for the other things. My car was also a September build with HW2.5. Best way to check is to open up the cover under the glove box and just look.

    Pre-2019 HW3 upgrades

I wonder how long it will take them to get to 2019 VINs. I think mine might be among the last to have been built with HW2.5 (which is especially annoying when they were actively saying that all new cars at the time had HW3.) I would guess that they would really like to get everybody on HW3, so...

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Doing it by VIN probably doesn't mean that they are doing it in order from oldest to newest (or vice versa). I suspect they are trying to pick a representative sample. Could also be people that they have identified as being easy to deal with.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Asked some questions to a mobile tech who was doing a cosmetic warranty repair on my car today. He said they are doing a good number of HW3 installs on S and X cars, but they are all allocated by VIN. It also sounds like they are working out some kinks with the firmware upgrades.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

According to Tesla support, traffic cones is a "rendering feature" and not an FSD feature. According to the email, HW2.5 supports all current FSD features. It sounds like it could be BS, but only Tesla would know.

Check the part number of the AP computer under the glove box.

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Is it just my experience, or are the mobile techs more knowledgeable than the service center techs?

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

Have they said anything yet? I was going to keep on politely querying them, but will get seriously thinking about possible ways to force the issue if city AP is HW3 specific and they still won't apply the HW3 upgrade.

Looking for center console removal instructions.

I may have spilled a significant amount of coffee down the center console hatch of my wife's model 3. I was able to get through the cup holder removal, but I am hung up on how to get the center console box out the rest of the way, so I can properly clean everything and replace the center hatch...

HW3 upgrade waiting room: All FSD Tesla’s

Normally I am pretty good at talking service people into doing what I would like, but was completely stonewalled by Tesla Dublin. In my case I bought my car two weeks ago, when the text on the sales page said that all cars had FSD hardware, whether or not you paid for FSD. I then made the...

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

But I did pay. I didn't pay at delivery because I want sure yet and they said there wasn't a difference between paying now and paying later. I payed a week after we had bought the car, after we had some time to think about it.

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

Leasing? People are at least reporting that Model S are starting to get HW3 upgrades from HW2.5. The part that gets me is that they literally say it has all the hardware and it doesn't.

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

I have a very negative view of Tesla at this moment. Especially when they are starting to come out with features that aren't available on HW2.5

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

I might be a dumba&&0, though in my defense, the service tech I was seeing about an issue was telling me that only cars that came with FSD were guaranteed to have HW3. I think I was looking at the MCU part number and not the AP computer part number. Any advice on where I should have been looking?

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

They are currently refusing to install the HW3 upgrade, even though I have paid for FSD. I didn't realize traffic cone detection was only available for HW3. Pedestrian detection at least kind of works for me right now. Traffic cone detection is not working.

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

You can take the panel off under the glove box and see the computer model number and manufacture date. There is also a report that the HW3 uses a different video codec for TeslaCam.

    September 2019 model 3 came with HW2.5

Apparently my model 3 with a Sept 2019 door post date came with HW2.5. The order page seemed to pretty clearly state that all cars at the time came with all the hardware required for FSD. In my case, I didn't buy FSD until a couple weeks after delivery. While filing the request to get the...

Replacement repeater not working for blind spot detection

A mobile service guy just replaced my front right repeater (the one that came with the car wasn't staying fully clipped in.) The new repeater records video in Tesla Cam, but neither blind spot detection nor Autopilot appear to be using it. Turning on the right blinker no longer shows a red...

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

I am guessing the inverter is connected directly to the 12V battery, so the car's wiring doesn't have to bare the load?

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

You just can't really do it through the 12V system. It would take like 80 to 240 amps to provide that kind of power. Seems unlikely that Tesla built the 12V system for that. For emergency refrigerator, I would look into a camper fridge, which I would guess would be able to run off of 12V...

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

The mod for auto opening/closing drunk must get its power from somewhere. Do they make 12V mini fridges? Maybe for campers or something? I have heard that normal 120V fridges can be picky about their power supply.

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

In this hypothetical, you would install a grid disconnect and the inverter/battery charger connected to the house from the car would trick the solar into thinking the grid is online.

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

I am definitely joking, but there is potentially a lot of sense in there. The battery in my model 3 could run my home for 2 days. If I could recharge it with my solar, the number of days depends only on the weather. The issue is that I have a difficult time imagining a prolonged power outage...

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

You got to keep a 50 lb sack of beans in your car for these occasions.

Using an inverter to charge a computer: recommendations? cautionary tales? effect on 12 v battery?

The real question is what kind of inverter do you need to keep your fridge running during a power outage?

Searching for destination charges by destination type

I was thinking of third party apps like plugshare, that show compatible third party chargers. I am kind of surprised that Yelp doesn't have a filter for destination charging, considering all their other filters.

Are there any tools that let you filter destination charges by destination type? Like being able to just see chargers at restaurants or places of interest.

Anyone getting 2 Years Free Supercharging/Upgrades

I got my car on the 30th and it was enabled a couple days later. One weird bug... The supercharging readout on my car has been stuck at $7.36 since I bought it. I am guessing that has something to do with them topping up the car before transferring it to my account.

Anyone looked at removing the cabin/trunk separation?

Been wondering if anyone has looked at what would be involved in removing the separator between the cabin and the trunk. Not a substitute for having a full hatchback, but would be nice for adding a space for extra storage or a dog riding in back.

Springfield uphill to Grants Pass OR in a SR+ cutting it too close?

Hi, I am planning a round trip from SF Bay Area to Portland and modeling it in ABRP. The way there doesn't seem to bad, but I am wondering if I can safely make the trip from Springfield to Grant Pass Oregon. It seems like maybe this depends on temperature and time of day. There are several...
