    NRG eVgo

thanks for your report. I was considering testing out the NRG eVgo network here in Orange County but instead I charged at a Chargepoint Nissan branded charger at the Marriott Courtyard Irvine Spectrum, 7955 Irvine Center Dr Irvine, CA 92618, I posted a couple of pictures on PlugShare...

CHAdeMO Make/Model Review — Using with a Tesla

I just used a Nissan branded Chargepoint CHAdeMO station this morning for about 15 minutes. was getting around 37-38 kw or 120 rated miles/hr. I charged from: SOC: 27% Range: 69.3 mi Estimated Range: 71.1 mi Ideal Range: 80.1 mi to: SOC: 38% Range: 97.8 mi Estimated Range: 100.7 mi Ideal...

    NRG eVgo

I might be mistaken but I think Leafs get to charge at the NRG eVgo stations for free (or included with their car) for a couple of years. So these per session charges only affect other EV owners.

    NRG eVgo

Just received mine today (waitlisted from October 13, 2013). Got the invitation to order late last week. Trying to research the NRG Evgo and other CHAdeMO chargers available in my area so I can test them out.

Gilroy to Atascadero via Route 1

This trip is very easy on a P85. We did a very similar road trip from southern California in December 2013. Left from Atascadero SC toward Hearst Castle up to through Hwy 1 and stayed in Carmel/Monterey. Then drove back southband a couple days later. As many have already commented, the...

    CHAdeMO Adapter

same here. received email earlier today. ordered. probably overkill in southern California but presumably this will also be usable with the Model X just for reference, I was added to the CHAdeMO wait list on October 14, 2013.

Supercharger - El Centro, CA (8 V2 stalls)

This mall has no shortage of parking spaces. Unless these stalls were right next to the mall entrance, I don't think this will be a problem.

Folsom Supercharger to Harris Ranch Supercharger - Will I make it?

What was your average speed? Or what was your travel time between the two superchargers? It looks like you averaged almost exactly the same energy consumption as I did and the distance between Harris Ranch and Folsom versus Harris Ranch and Roseville is comparable.

Folsom Supercharger to Harris Ranch Supercharger - Will I make it?

i made the trip from Harris Ranch to Roseville on Friday August 15, 2014. I drove about 58 - 65 mph and averaged around 63 mph. I left with 247 from Harris Ranch at 4:31 pm and arrived in Roseville at 8:01 pm with 13 rated miles after traveling 210.3 miles, 65.8 kWh and average 313 Wh/mi...

    SurfSand resort Cannon Beach Oregon

Personally confirmed all the above facts from the original post. When I arrived, a very friendly staff member personally showed me to the charger, turned it on, set up the no-trip runners and then I plugged in the car. I would recommend calling ahead so that the spot is reserved for you when...

Grant's Pass SC to Crater Lake?

Here's my experience. I did a range charge overnight at the Aeronvironment J1772 station at Chevron Central Point, 1510 E Pine St, Central Point, OR. Drove to Crater Lake via route 62 with stops at the Steel Visitor Center and Sinnott Memorial Overlook. Then drove up the west side of the rim...

    Charging at Tesla service centers

I was very intrigued by the OP since there is mention of 4 charging stations in the parking lot of the Costa Mesa Service Center. I've been to that service center many times (as recently as a couple of weeks ago) and I knew that there is only 1 HPWC and 1 Roadster HPC. Well, I just passed by...

How do wheel size and setup affect your range?

I just recently switched from 21" after about 30K miles to 19". I used the original Michelin PS2s and then switched to Hankooks for the next set. My lifetime usage is 372 Wh/mi with the 21" and so far in about 500 plus miles, I'm at about 365 Wh/mi. Of course, 500 miles is not long enough to...

High Voltage Battery is Being Replaced

I'm VIN 6313 and have had two HV pack failures. The original HV battery pack was replaced back in November at around 17K miles and again last month at around 29K miles. This second time went from a B pack to a D pack. I asked for explanation of the failure but was told that Fremont would...

Folsom Supercharger to Harris Ranch Supercharger - Will I make it?

Completely agree, when it comes to roadtrip planning EVTripPlanner.com is invaluable. It takes into account many factors that are not apparent when only looking at distance on a map. Highly recommend it.

California Coastal Route, Doable in an EV?

I also did the Highway 1 trip from southern California using Atascadero as the launching point to then drive up the coast and stay in Carmel for a couple of nights. Started with a range charge at Atascadero and arrived in Carmel with about 128 rated miles. Then trickle charged at the hotel...

Supercharger - El Centro, CA (8 V2 stalls)

My parents live in Calexico and visit the mall on a regular basis. They also haven't seen any signs of construction at the above address. They'll keep checking. The closest thing related thing they saw was a Tesla with Washington state plates on July 9th.

    Battery Versions

Ahh. that makes sense. Very helpful. Thank you. During some of my stops this weekend, the superchargers were full or close to full and assuming that some or all of these SC are 135kW, in those situations, I must have benefitted from the extra charging capacity of the 135 kW SC. Thanks...

    Battery Versions

I also found this quick review helpful. Are there any Superchargers in California or elsewhere on the West Coast that allow for greater than 120kW charging? I just recently went from a B to a D pack (second high voltage battery failure/replacement) and still only saw up to about 118 kW as...

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

It's a cumulative average. So I realize it's pretty worthless for those trying to figure out variation by month. But in my case, it doesn't seem to matter since it always gravitates back to around 370-372 the longer I drive.

Supercharger - San Juan Capistrano, CA (7 V2 stalls)

On previous iterations of the coming soon Tesla map unveiled in 2013, there was a dot just east of the 10 - 215 interchange. It got removed (similar to the way Primm was removed and then subsequently added back). Redlands would fit that previous dot.

Road Trip in a 60 kWh

Thank you for the great write up by apoclyps. I have seen several write ups about drives from SF bay area to Hawthorne (LA area). I'm curious what the fastest possible time that someone has done in total travel time. My guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of 9 hours. Has anyone done...

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV - Bridger Ave.

I think you're in the exact scenario I was thinking of -- staying at a hotel that doesn't have great charging alternatives. I've stayed/charged at several hotels including Aria (14-150), Bellagio (110v in October - not sure about now), Mandalay Bay, and Palazzo/Venetian, but the SC opens up...

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV - Bridger Ave.

That's good to hear. It was my first time in that area, despite many trips to Las Vegas. I'm very excited that this SC will allow for no compromise road trips to Las Vegas. On my previous 3 trips with the Tesla, I've always arrived with anywhere from 20 to 60 rated miles, which means charging...

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV - Bridger Ave.

Yeah. You're probably right. Although I would argue that it would take a little bit more effort to get inside Hawthorne than at the Las Vegas SC, which is very close to the sidewalk/street. But I suppose the security guard stationed there at night addresses the issue.

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV - Bridger Ave.

Interesting. I was there Sunday during the day and didn't see any security guards at that time of day. I'm glad they do have a security guard at night because it doesn't seem like a very safe area, particularly in the middle of the night. Unlike at Hawthorne, which is also in a rough area of...

Supercharger - Las Vegas, NV - Bridger Ave.

In my limited experience, two previous trips to Las Vegas in April 2013 and October 2013, I haven't had to wait on each leg of my trips. If you have a choice, I do think that it makes sense to avoid the times when there is likely to be high traffic volume between LA and Las Vegas. Friday and...

Tesla making changes to inventory car purchase process

Tesla Costa Mesa, like many of other centers, does not currently have Tesla loaners. Just took in car for service today and the loaner given as a Jaguar XJ with a choice of a Mercedes (Tesla Costa Mesa). Other owner ahead of us also got a Jaguar. Not sure if this a change across the board or...

    Decreasing rated range.

oh. I see. I just checked and the "rated mile energy unit" is 300 on the car now. It was definitely 308 before the battery failure while on previous OS versions, however, I don't remember looking at this unit in the days after it was upgraded to 5.8 but before the main battery pack failure...

    Decreasing rated range.

While on 5.8, I had a main pack failure in late November. The night before the failure, I had done a range charge which stopped at about 248 miles (~18000 miles) and on the day after the main battery pack was replaced as well as on subsequent range charges, I have seen 266-269 rated mile range...

confusion about "service plan" vs "warranty"

That's good to know. I realize the wear and tear on the brake pads is less than on a comparable ICE but eventually even on a Tesla the brake pads will wear out and they aren't cheap.
  37. X

confusion about "service plan" vs "warranty"

Are you sure brakes are included? I remember asking a while back and they didn't know for sure but I seem to recall they told me that they were not covered (Costa Mesa) but I could be wrong.

    Supercharger Crowding?

A variety of methods to cover most owners could be implemented including push notifications through the mobile app, email, automated phone call, etc. I suppose there may be a few owners out there without a cell phone. I imagine those are few.

    Supercharger Crowding?

I'm not sure if this is correct but I noticed that at the Hawthorne supercharger, the last time I stopped on the way back from a road trip, even though all 6 stalls were full, I was able to charge at or near 120 kW. I'm not sure if each pedestal at Hawthorne is only linked to one supercharger...

    Mission Viejo store opens Friday!

They do have 6 HPWC in the parking structure but I spoke to the staff at the store and they said they were not going to be available to the public. Status of Vegas?

We stayed at the Bellagio back in late October/early November and the valets were very familiar with the Model S. The were able to plug into 120V if you bring your UMC. Charging protocol/etiquette when charging at hotels?

It's very difficult to predict Supercharger usage. I've stayed at the Marriott in Santa Ynez California which is where the Buellton supercharger is located. I arrived on the first night at 1 am and charged from 1 am to about 2:30 am. That first night I did not move my car until about 6 am...

Over 17000 miles in approximately 8 months. About 1 week ago had main battery pack failure. The day before the failure I had done a range charge on 5.8 that showed about 248 rated miles. I then had the failure and the main battery pack was replaced. The new battery pack then showed max range...

Best Car in The Doctor's Lot

MSPRad. I live very close to the hospital also so it really doesn't make sense for me to stomp up and down too much for a charging station because that's part of the point of having a Tesla, that you can drive without much range anxiety. Most days, I actually drive our Prius to work and it's...

60 or 85--I Need Help in Deciding!!!

Not sure that I should add fuel to this discussion, but what the heck. My wife had a 60 loaner (I didn't get a chance to drive it), and she immediately remarked that she could definitely tell the difference in acceleration with the P85. I'm not saying its worth the extra money for everyone...
