Tesla Power Sharing no longer requires Subpanel

I mean, I don't see how a gen 3 would be able to tell where the wires are coming from.....wires are just wires...I would assume a terminal position would be fine...

Tesla Power Sharing no longer requires Subpanel

Oh interesting...they are continually updating the manual That didn't use to be there. Edit:.... yeah, they added it as an appendix, but they do mention you can only daisy chain with the universal connector.

Tesla Power Sharing no longer requires Subpanel

Its buried in this thread ( New "Universal Wall Connector" doesn't charge the Rivian. ) but the new Universal Wall Connector manual shows that you no longer are required to use a subpanel when connecting multiple wall connectors on a single circuit. Per the manual -> Note, it doesn't make a...

    Tesla Hates Nevada

We had a similar issue from Boise to Reno, where there wasn't a supercharger between Winnemucca and Boise. Well, there were a few CCS ones if you had an adapter and accepted 50kW charging and if they were working. Tesla put in 8 superchargers in McDermitt, NV which makes the stretch possible...

New "Universal Wall Connector" doesn't charge the Rivian.

Sweet! This is just what I and others were guessing Tesla was going to do. Officially come out with guidance that you don't have to have a subpanel/load center and can just use one circuit. Me and the "tesla certified" electrician that installed my new wall connector and UWC thought the...

New "Universal Wall Connector" doesn't charge the Rivian.

Just did this about a week ago. The commission process is super simple software wise...power sharing setup was a breeze. The hardest part of the process was getting my phone to stay connected to the wall connector wifi (kept wanting to disconnect since there was no internet) but...even that...

Will the J1772 Tesla Wall Charger charge both my 2023 Model Y and my wife's 2021 BMW 330e J1772 equipped car?

Will the J1772 Tesla Wall Charger charge both my 2023 Model Y and my wife's 2021 BMW 330e J1772 equipped car?

Why RIP the corded mobile connector? Did tesla announce they are going to discontinue it which...would seem really dumb?

Will the J1772 Tesla Wall Charger charge both my 2023 Model Y and my wife's 2021 BMW 330e J1772 equipped car?

Yep...what I really want is just the adapter from Tesla NACS to j1772.....from Tesla. Yes, I can buy one from teslatap, but rather have an OEM one I can trust. Then I can just use my mobile charger (which is my main charger at home) to charge the Rivian.

    Climate control sluggish on auto

This. I'm always in auto, but I like how tesla added this feature where you can still change the underlying fan speed a bit if you want a bit more air.

3D-printed rear seat shoulder belt guides

Thanks for the great STL file! Got 2 sets printed at the local library for $2.25. I also like the styling of this version over the commercially (etsy) available ones. Solves two problems: 1. Eliminates the rattling sound against the plastic sides (I've complained about this before in the...

What is this high pitched cricket like noise?

My experience...is that I think it gets better over time. I heard it a lot last winter, and a little bit coming into the fall, but its been nearly gone this winter.

    Washing The Tesla Model Y

Well, to be clear...I only wash the microfiber towels when I have enough to wash. Usually....after doing 2-3 cars (so there are like 12-15 microfiber towels and 3 drying towels to wash). If I just do 1 car, I'll do a quick rinse to get most the dirt off the towels and let them dry...and put them...

    Washing The Tesla Model Y

You made the right choice with ONR. I would just ditch the sponge/2 bucket method and lookup the Garry dean method, which is what I use. In a nutshell: Spray ONR mixture with a garden sprayer onto one side of the car. Have 1 bucket with like...1 gallon of water and 4-6 Microfiber towels...

FSD 2022.20.17 Coasts forever from a posted 55mph Speed Zone to a posted 35 MPH Speed Zone

Yep...can confirm that its been like this for a long time with FSD beta. When going into a lower speed zone, it just coasts there instead of applying any regenerative braking.

Hi there! I have a model Y reservation that I thought a friend was going to use but now they backed off and are waiting for the cybertruck. A Must Have Detailing Accessory

I have additional batteries....but...no, I don't feel that the batteries run out quickly. The batteries are new though and I make sure to never long term charge to 100%, keep them in the house (if too hot outside), etc. (li-ion battery health strategies)

    CCS Adapter - ?

Yep....just expand the navigation directions by swiping down, then click the settings link, then mute. Mine is actually always muted. I use autopilot 90% of the time in town, on roads I already know by heart, so a navigation voice would be super annoying.

    Antelope

Its hard to tell in the video......did the tesla slow down for the antelope at all or not? I'm sorry to hear about your phantom breaking....I think its rather hit and miss with everyone, and what software version you are using. I'm on FSD beta, and I don't find phantom breaking an issue...

    CCS Adapter - ?

Yeah, they just need to come out with an adapter. They already have a tesla app that is being used by non-tesla cars in europe. Looks like pricing model is similar to electrify america where you either pay a higher one time use or a monthly fee for lower per kwh...

    Finally Got FSD Beta

Whoa....wait, with Tesla insurance, do you ALWAYS have to keep maintaining a safety score? That would be terrible......unless the insurance is MUCH, much cheaper than other auto insurance options? Nationwide insurance was just as cheap for my model y as it is our 2015 honda odyssey....

    A Must Have Detailing Accessory

While we are talking about detailing tools.....a tool I have been pleasantly surprised with, is the ryobi 600psi 18v power washer -> I got it for $99 from tools_direct on ebay. Could probably wait and get it cheaper. I know...it seems like a total gimmick type of tool, but I have used it...

    Entering home charging cost?

I wish the app let you put in the MPG car that its comparing to in the "gas savings" section. For a model y it is using a 28 mpg car. But, most friends I'm giving test drives to, are driving like suburbans and trucks at 13mpg. I mean, its easy enough to calculate the savings, it just would be...

    A Must Have Detailing Accessory

Yeah, I recently tried out leaf blowers. I actually tried both the EGO and Ryobi top end leaf blowers (the 930 CFM type ones). I ultimately chose the Ryobi, because it comes with a silicone tip already, and Ryobi claimed their product is "whisper series leaf blowers", and they really meant it...

    Finally Got FSD Beta

Wow...I'm so sorry that you had to stay with the safety score system for 5-6 months. Tesla really had some bad customer service by still allowing people on the safety score system for so long (since christmas) with no intention of letting new people in till now. I am in the beta and thoroughly...

    2 Model Y or Ioniq 5?

What if I'm washing the car by hand? Is it just going to keep trying to open itself? How easy is it to cancel?
  31. mackgriggs

Is FSD worth it $10k? ( Any insight from Beta users)

OK, so, if its brand, brand new...you are just waiting for your first software update then? Those usually take 3-5 weeks to get.

Autopilot speed has been increased to 85mph recently. A much appreciated change.

Is FSD worth it $10k? ( Any insight from Beta users)

Don't get me wrong...I am a big proponent of FSD BETA...but have counseled friends to not get FSD recently. But, its only because they thought they too were only going to keep their car for like a year a half or so. Basically, its: 1. Are you going to keep the car 2 years or more? Then yes, I...
  36. mackgriggs

Is FSD worth it $10k? ( Any insight from Beta users)

I'm going to have to disagree with you there. If you are planning on keeping the model y for 5-6 years, then purchasing it for $10k is WAY cheaper and makes more sense than the subscription. When you go to sell, you are going to get some value out of the FSD purchase. Lets say 50%, perhaps...

    CCS Adapter - ?

That was cheap then. By the minute, it does make it so you want to make sure you are charging at full speed (180 kw/h would be ideal) since you are being charged the same per minute as charging at 100 kw/h (or conversely, charging at 90 kw/h instead of...like 50 kw/h at the lower tier). But...

Anyone bought Replica r241 19x9.5 for their new Model Y?

The stock tires fit the 8.5" wide wheels too, and I believe even fit better than stock wheels. If I remember correctly, the 9.5" size is the upper width limit for the tire, but the 8.5" is better within spec. Anyway, I used the stock tires with the new replika wheels no problem on my old MYLR.
  39. mackgriggs

    CCS Adapter - ?

Ok, most of the country EA is per kWh, at either .43 kWh or .31 kWh if you pay the $4/month fee. There in wisconsin, there are only a few EA chargers....and you are paying per minute. (a few states is by minute instead of per kWh). So your 24.5 cents is per minute charging, not per kWh...

    Advice on all-weather floor mats

Agree....Taptes mats. I've tried half a dozen mats and the taptes are the closest to 3d maxpider without the logo. LDCRS mats are ok, but they are not as rigid. Pics -> https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/6068963/

    CCS Adapter - ?

Ok...that makes more sense. You are using the instantaneous voltage of the battery pack at a certain SOC, and at the given charging kwh, you can get amperage. And you got that data from scan my tesla app. I was just getting my info from -> supercharger voltage - Google Search
  42. mackgriggs

    CCS Adapter - ?

Could you clear up where my math is wrong? I'm trying to determine how you are getting your amps numbers. For example, at the 150kW CCS, you said you were provided a max of 360amps, which gave you a peak charge of 134kW. What voltage are you using to get that 360 amp number? Whether I use...

  45. mackgriggs

    CCS Adapter - ?

That got me thinking about supercharger rates...and while I haven't paid attention to it before, I was surprised how much Tesla SC rates differ, even in the same state. I mean, here in Idaho, you don't really have much choice on what superchargers you use on a particular route but it looks like...

Modely Long range MSM or White

I've had both. The White "stormtrooper" look is great if you get tinted windows and plastidip badges, but once you notice the mismatched bumper, you can't unsee it. Plus, bug guts made little red spots in my white paint that were a pain to remove -> MY White Paint thick enough for Harbor Freight...
  47. mackgriggs

    CCS Adapter - ?

So....looks like the CCS adapter is capped out around 180KW....and goes to 150KW fairly soon after (not sure what SOC), but are you thinking you want to avoid V2 superchargers that are busy because you have a good chance of splitting the 150KW tesla charger with someone else? If the SC station...

    CCS Adapter - ?

OK, I used the EA charger at Walmart Boise. Got 182KW. Still miss Tesla SC since its just plug and play, though it wasn't too bad to create an EA account, start a session, wait for it to start, etc. Also, Tesla connector is just so much sexier than a CCS and easier to handle. Well...
