    CarOS and Teslamirror

Over the past few days I have been experimenting with two apps. One being Teslamirror and the other CarOS. CarOS gives you a CarPlay lookalike app with the usual phone messages music maps etc on your iphone. To be 100% honest, the free version is not usable but a one month subscription is...

    Is this really necessary?

I have actually only stopped at a few Supercharging stations here in Ontario and all of them except one had trash laying around. Tim Hortons coffee cups followed by McDonalds Big Mac boxes seem to be the main offenders. My wife and I carry a reusable shopping bag with a zipper on it in the...

    Is this really necessary?

Stopped for a quick charge in Port Hope Ontario while headed home. The garbage bins are about 25 feet from my car. Putting plainly. “This is just disgusting” to say the least. Come on Canada. We are better than this.

    Interesting home charging issue

I will give that a try but it has been set at 12kw in the app for the past couple of years. The same EVSE was used on our previous van a Pacifica Hybrid for a couple of years with no issues. The Pacifica charged at 32 amps as well. The JB has been working just fine until just recently but maybe...

    Interesting home charging issue

Sorry about that. About 15 feet of #8 Cable on a 40 amp breaker that is on a 200 amp service. All connections clean and tight. Under load, while charging, I am reading 235 volts and 236 when not charging. When the issue appears the voltage at the output of the JB stays at 235 volts.

    Interesting home charging issue

A couple of months ago I noticed that little yellow triangle while coming to a stop using regen braking. Only did it a couple of times and that was a few months ago. Only supercharged a few times and it seemed normal (I guess) 100+ kw with the battery at 40-50% to start The attached picture...

    Interesting home charging issue

We normally charge our MS at home using a Juice Box 40 that we purchased for our previous vehicle. when everything is working right it charges at 7kw @ 32 amps Over the past few charges I noticed that it starts off at 32 amps but after an hour or so it drops off to 24 amps or about 5kw the...

2020 MS Uploading data like crazy

AW-HA! The light just went on. The other day I was driving in our neighborhood and tried to turn on Autopilot but it would not engage. A few minutes later it worked just fine. WTF I said to myself. Looking at the road that I initially tried and the lines where not there. Nice wide road here...

2020 MS Uploading data like crazy

It is very common for me to see little bits and bytes of data being uploaded or downloaded almost constantly from my Model S to the mothership when I am connected to my home Wifi. .A couple of K here and there is quite normal. When there is a firmware upgrade or map upgrade being downloaded...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Bluetooth connectivity should be able to be tied to the driver using the Driver Profile settings. Currently, if two people with Bluetooth paired to the car phones get into the car at the same time it can be a real challenge to get the drivers phone connected while disconnecting the passengers...

    USB Music Interuptus

I fired up the SSD that I have after formatting it to fat32 and loaded a bunch of music on it. then I redid the partitions to add a 20 gig partition for music and left the rest for TeslaCam. Still plays the music just fine and Tesla Cam seems to be working as well. Just for the heck of it...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Just thought of another wish. Percentage of charge and estimated range on the same screen or possibly on the dash.

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

I think a nice update would be to have the 2.4 ghz or 5.0 ghz wifi radio handle playing music and using the phone while in the car. Bluetooth is ok but it does have a significant delay due to signal processing and it doesn’t seem to be able to handle large amounts of data. not to mention...

    USB Music Interuptus

Thanks for the idea. Will give that a try. I did try a separate USB stick with nothing else on it with the same results as well as a dual partitioned USB stick. The only SSD that I have is about 500 gig so I can put just about every song that was ever written on it. Too bad you can’t play...

    USB Music Interuptus

2020 MS running 2020.12.5 software seems to be possessed while trying to play music via ANY USB thumb drive. Music will start to play then stop then jump ahead and play normally then maybe stop again. The interruption might be 5 seconds or as long as 20 seconds. Watching the progress on the...

Long range vs long range +

When you ordered your car did you have the option for Long Range Plus? Did they charge you extra? When we ordered ours there was no option.

Long range vs long range +

Hmm. The plot thickens! In looking at the door sticker again I noticed that it says something about being built to Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards

Long range vs long range +

The build date on the door sticker as well as the big window sticker says 1/20 so I believe that means January 2020 I haven't been able to find any other build date info.

Long range vs long range +

In checking with a non salesperson at the local Tesla store it seems that at the time that I ordered the car ( March 4, 2020 ) there was no Canadian option to order the Long Range Plus BUT it was relatively common knowledge that the update was pending. And it was supposed to be a free update...

Long range vs long range +

Thought I mentioned that it was an “E” series battery.

Long range vs long range +

Sure does look like someone wanted to unload a not updatable car. Two day delivery versus an at least two week delivery should have tipped me off. The extra range is not really the issue as I can come very close to that 600 km mark just charging to 90% and taking it easy on the go pedal...

Long range vs long range +

Just to add to the confusion I need to mention that I am in Canada and I would gladly have paid $79,000.00! When we first went to look at the car at the Tesla store the sales rep emailed me the same day a quote of $110.380.00 plus taxes but including shipping and documentation fees. 2020 Model...

Long range vs long range +

I am having a “discussion” with my salesperson over our 1/2020 build Model S He claims that our car cannot be upgraded to the long range + due to hardware differences. But when we ordered the car it was mentioned that the update was pending. So my main question is what’s different? And the...
