The Gen2 10-30 adapter is finally back in stock! I I just ordered.

Oh, just fine. I've left it on for about 100 miles now and they're holding up as expected.

    Temporary Front License Plate Solutions

Some more notes for people using this solution: the 1/4" drill bit is a very snug fit. I had to move the drill in a circular motion to make the hole a just a bit wider in order to fit the suction cups through. The plastic on the license plate holder is very soft and easy to manipulate. A needle...

    Temporary Front License Plate Solutions

Just installed the suction cups on mine. Turned out great! 1/4" drill bit is just about right. It's a tight squeeze but installed quite nicely.

    Front license plate Model 3

Suction cups. Really. The cheap $1 ones on Amazon are perfect. I’ve used them on my Model S for years and zero problems. I have a separate thread about it. Planning to do the exact same thing on my 3 when the plates comes.

Miles driven vs miles used on P3D+

Has anyone done an extended test of wh/mi on a P3D+ in chill mode? Logically it should make a difference, right? I suppose I should test it myself for a couple days. Clicking the "chill" button, though, interests me about as much as eating cauliflower.

What Wh/mi are you getting with AWD and P cars?

300 miles, P3D+. Mixed driving. Average is almost exactly 300wh/mi. I have mixed feelings, hope it gets better.
  9. Crispix

I ordered a Performance 3. The car at delivery was an AWD.

I think just the P3D+ (with performance package) has a different chassis code. Probably because the suspension is a tad lower. For the most part, it sure does seem like the significant difference between AWD and P3D (with or without the +) is software. That's ok.

    Less sweet, more brown!

Am I the only one super annoyed by the site automatically replacing mild swear words? Specifically: *sugar*. We're all adults. We can handle it. Can we turn off the filter for this one word, or at least have an option to turn it off? Sure, filter out the more explicit stuff, but this one word...

USB Hub for Model 3's front ports?

Looks like the RPM video is offline/removed. Would anyone like to share photos/video of how to route a cable from the 12v to the front? I'd like to know how to do it.

Sluggish Off the Line Acceleration Model 3?

Don't regret it for a second. The RWD is a fantastic car. It's a blast to drive and the range/efficiency is unreal. We have a P3D and a RWD and they're both awesome for different reasons. It's too bad I can't swap the free supercharging from the P3D to the RWD because the latter is the better...

Wrapping, Coating, etc - investment or waste?

I just started using a synthetic wax, sometimes called a "sealant". Way less expensive than ceramic, and pretty easy to apply myself (wash, clay, seal). It's supposed to last a few months. I've put it on three cars so far, and two weeks later I can already tell it's holding up much better than...

Model 3 LTE Radio - Subscription After Year 1?

When I got my S in 2013 they said at delivery, "We're going to start charging soon for 3G (no LTE at the time). The price hasn't been set, we don't know the start date, but until then it's free." Yeah, it was weird not to know the pricing, but they were up front about the fact that it wasn't...

Did you get free SuperCharging and Award Credit after upgrading to P3D?

Picked up my P3 yesterday. My Tesla account also says "Pay per use" supercharging for the new car but I'm not going to worry about it. It must be a display issue. Everyone knows the P cars got free supercharging. I think they just are playing catch-up on the UI following the expiration of the...

    Nice delivery experience today

No specific checklist used. Frankly, the lists posted here seem a bit extreme to me, but to each his own, I guess. I just looked at the paint, panels, interior with an attention to detail. They gave me as much time as I needed, and polished a few things I pointed out inside and out. Really a...

    Nice delivery experience today

I think the positive experiences sometimes get hidden in the noise. (And I've certainly been guilty of complaining on TMC.) So here's a delivery story with zero complaints! I took delivery this afternoon and it was quite pleasant. Communication was perfunctory but adequate pre-delivery...

Lowering Charge Current - Public J1772

No need to reduce on a public charger like that. The 20% thing is usually just applicable to your home wiring, e.g. if you have a 40-amp circuit, continuous load should only be 32 amps. Or for a 50-amp circuit (like a NEMA 14-50), you can use 40 amps continuous. But some NEMA 14-50s are...

    Potential 0-60mph Model 3P+ vs. Model P85D

I suspect Tesla is purposely nerfing the Model 3 in all its configurations. We already know the only difference between the P3D and the AWD is lot sorting and software. They are being very careful not to interfere with Ludicrous sales on the Model S. And that's ok.

Would the typical Corvette Driver recognize a Performance M3?

I'm not the only one who waits for the noise! Related anecdote: I have an early Model S, got it in 2013. During the first ~6-12 months, I was constantly challenged by BMWs and Corvettes (and everything in between). Even in a S85, I would smoke them all in the first 0-30, and this is after...

Well that escalated quickly. "edit-design" back door stopped working this morning. Got a text msg about delivery on 9/18 a moment later. Whee! (White interior, but I have no other place to post!)

    Lifetime Wh/mi

Coming from a S85 with a P3D+ on order, those are good numbers to know. I think extrapolating that means that a P3D+ will go about 260-ish miles on a full charge? I'm ok with that. Never had a range issue on my S after many, many road trips.
  29. Crispix

Will Model 3 SR be a "true" 5.6 seconds 0-60?

This is spot on. I'll go a step further and speculate that even the P3D is nerfed a bit. It would not surprise me to learn that it could go faster with existing hardware, too. Tesla is being very careful with its 0-60 times and making sure Model S Ludicrous is the premium of premiums.

Price of DM increased again, this time to $6,000

Tesla has committed to being profitable going forward and they need to follow through. Plus paint quality has been an issue, so eliminating...

    Model 3 - Key Fob yes/no?

There's a third party app "Remote S" for iPhone that includes an Apple Watch app and complication. It's fantastic. If you have a series 3 watch, you can unlock and start your car from your watch over LTE, too. The only minor issue with this app is that it can be slow to connect, unlock/start...

Whats the most miles anyone has driven without having to take it in for service?

If you take it in for a tire rotation they'll also take care of any service bulletins. On very early Model 3s there are more than a few. They may also swap your Gen 2 mobile connector.

California DMV - Plates & HOV Stickers

According to the ARB web site: I'm expecting to take delivery of a new Model 3 in 2018. Does this mean that if I wait until after January 1, 2019 to apply for the initial HOV sticker, I'd get an extra year of HOV use even if I took delivery in 2018? The wording is just ambiguous enough that I...

Traffic Aware Cruise Control (TACC) should be standard free of cost - Let's vote and make Elon Hear

It’s an interesting question. From a business standpoint, Tesla has priced this software upgrade pretty well. If everyone buys, then they priced too low. If no one buys, it’s too high. Basically, they’re trying to maximize expected value. 70% of customers paying $5k is better than 95% paying...

How does navigation calculate superchargers in relation to charge limit?

Yeah, don’t hesitate to charge to 100% for a trip. Once in a while is absolutely fine for your battery. I’ve had an S for 5 years. I normally charge to 80%, and have done a full charge maybe 10 times per year on average. It’s been fine. Battery degradation has been about 5%, and I still get...

Ride Quality of Model 3 Perf w/ 20s vs. LR RWD on 18s?

We have a RWD 18”, and I test drove a P 20”. I meant to pay attention to the ride quality but was having too much fun stomping on the go pedal and maneuvering around corners. Such a blast to drive. So I’m curious what others say. Even with a bit of first hand experience, I just don’t remember!

Has anyone really used a 12V pump to fill tire?

I top off my tires with a manual bicycle pump. It does not take long at all. I have a 12v pump but it's too much hassle to deal with the cords and doors in a snug garage when the bike pump is right there.

ACCIDENT MODEL 3.... Backed into garage

Doesn't look that bad, actually. Look on Yelp for a local paintless dent repair guy with great reviews. He still may have to wet sand and repaint, but it'll be a fraction of the cost of a body shop. FWIW I did a DIY repair on my other car (wouldn't trust myself to do a Tesla!) that was very...

Poor communication and customer service for delivery

Amen. I've owned a Mode S for five years, and a Model 3 since January. And I'm stupidly going to sell the S and get myself a P3D. Back in 2013, there were so few of us that delivery and service was exceptional. We were treated like rock stars. I could email service and get a response in 15...

    AWD delivery thread

Prioritizing EAP/FSD makes a ton of sense in their push to report a profitable quarter. Autopilot is pure profit for them, so it helps the bottom line immensely. Same reason for the P3D supercharging promotion: the higher margins on the Performance cars will help them get to profitability, so...
