    ex-demo purchase woes

Used from a private seller would still give the balance of the remaining warranty. Used from a business or garage would provide the balance, and also need to provide some sort of used car warranty but that would be through them, not Tesla.

    ex-demo purchase woes

Walk away from it, I've never known any other company to list pre-registered, rejected, "ex-demo" or showroom cars as "new". You won't be the first owner, you don't get the benefits that entails and you don't get the full warranty. I'm pretty sure that's a breach of the advertising rules, so...

    Keyed!

Even if sentry had been working and you got a decent shot, unless you could identify them yourself the police won't do anything. I had damage to my garden wall caused by a skip lorry, I knew the company, I had CCTV, but the police refused to do anything because I didn't have the registration number.

Warning: Gridserve Braintree Superchargers don't support all cars - V3 CCS only

Tesla have, quite rightly in my opinion, moved to the European standard charge connectors. Unfortunately that means that the few older cars around need to be upgraded and have an adapter. If I had an older S, I would be quite happy to get the CCS upgrade at that price just so I can use third...

    [android] Phone nfc unlock

For me if my Nokia is in my back right pocket it doesn't unlock, if it's in my front left pocket it is fine. Must be a signal strength thing.

M3 winter driving tips & tricks

Tyres, tyres, tyres. Winter tyres if you get regular/consistent subzero temperatures and snow, all seasons for most mild parts of the country. The new generation of all seasons are much better, and can handle the variable mild weather we have in the south. My Nokian winter tyres on my last car...

Boot trim alignment and sticker mark issues

Yep, boot alignment was so bad it removed paint. Marks all over the interior trim too, its in the SC until January at least dealing with that as well as water in the footwells, broken repeater camera, damage to front door hinges, hole in the seat leather. Not a good first impression at all.

Auto folding wing mirrors - am I missing something here?

This must be a design issue, in 8 years my last car never had the mirrors freeze and stop folding. Admittedly in a fairly mild south England climate, but still had plenty of hard frosts and frozen snow.

Auto folding wing mirrors - am I missing something here?

I find it useful to tell from a distance if the car is locked or not.

    Underbody Cover peeled off

I've seen this come up a couple of times the last few weeks on one of the Facebook groups, i think one might have been a 2021 car, not sure though.

    Other automakers using Superchargers

Gridserve intends to do something like this, but it's not implemented yet. I suppose they have to check what car manufacturers are actually following the protocols correctly too

What did you do to your Tesla Model 3 today?

Thanks, I've already had some of that black trim off, haven't got the chrome off yet. I'll try when it comes back from the SC. I want to try and run a cable for my phone on a dash mount too while I'm there. Having trouble using the front USB C as it keeps kicking my phone into giving data...

What did you do to your Tesla Model 3 today?

I reported the same issue to the SC and the car got pushed 48.12.1 and it fixed itself. As for the dash cam, I've been looking at putting one in to supplement the built in stuff. How did you route the power cable out of the center console from the 12v socket cleanly?
  14. 9

    Dashcam/Sentry keeps failing

I had this problem, added it to my service list, but it seems to have resolved itself after the 48.12.1 update. The problem for me seemed to be when the car went to deep sleep the usb would fail to reconnect afterwards.

    [UK] 2020.48.x

Totally agree there may be improvements coming, otherwise some have nerfed performance based on luck of the draw. Still not sure if the SR+ Fremont cars are different batteries at all. My first supercharge was disappointing, but maybe not sully preheated. I also got 48.12.1 yesterday and...

    [UK] 2020.48.x

All LHD LR and P are from Fremont too. As far as we know only *some* SR+ with LFP batteries are from China. However it is still pretty much confirmed that LG Chem batteries are in European Fremont built cars. With a much slower charge curve. Bjorn has already confirmed that the LR he has been...

Front mudflaps installed, stick on extensions in the boot. They don't do much to stop dirt, they're mostly to stop paint damage.

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

I've checked the left and right side a-pillars and cant really see anything. It going to need the carpets removed and dried and then someone to hose it while looking for where its getting in, but i'm not doing that myself on a new car, and the earliest the SC can see me is next Tuesday. Phone...

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

Its an SR+ with tow hitch Its not on top of the mat, the surface of the mats is mostly dry, it was slightly damp under my aftermarket mats (now feel dry after letting it air) but soaking wet under the carpets and the foam underneath. Its wet on both the drivers and passenger side foam under the...

    No more deliveries at Chelmsford

Got mine on Friday, the delivery lorry was blocking access to the site and kept having to be moved. I was also told by phone on Monday that the bodyshop and possibly service department are short staffed/empty due to isolation.

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

I took delivery of mine on Friday, an SR+ with tow hitch. I have taken my time, and avoided posting to give myself time to thoroughly inspect the car and to digest the situation. Unfortunately my car was just a mess. I have left it with Tesla right now to find me an amicable solution. I might...

    Auto dimming mirrors

Can't speak for others but on my 2021 the side mirrors are just too dim. Can't see anything unlit in them any time they are on. I can see myself sideswiping a car or bicycle quite easily at night. They also take an age to adjust, so although they turn off when I put the car into reverse they...

    Free charging points?

Me too, I've worked out its in the region of 35p/kWh based on my previous diesel, which many rapids are already over. Perhaps he's comparing with a particularly thirsty car.

    Winter is coming

Let us know how it goes, but I'm not personally sure that will work. The glycols might not immediately evaporate, but the alcohols probably will. I also wouldn't be confident in its long term compatibility with the rubber. The glycols are also hydrophilic, so they might result in attracting more...

    Condensation in rear lights

Goretex I believe still allows humid air through, just not droplets. Fwiw my Citroen had condensation in a lot of its lamps under certain weather conditions, it always cleared up once it got warmer. Any actual droplets, pooling of water, or near constant condensation is a problem though. I...

Difficulty sending down payment from Nationwide Building Society

Halifax couldn't confirm the name for me either. There is specifically a note on the Halifax site that says not all bank accounts are able to verify the name. Its also possible the account isn't actually under the name Tesla Motors Limited, but some variation of.

    Leaving People in the Car?

But there are options, dog mode, camp mode, and the wife locking the car from the touchscreen are all valid options if you need it to be locked while they wait. I suspect the issue here isn't a lack of options but the lack of a specifically worded "going for a slash while the wife keeps warm...

    Leaving People in the Car?

Then dog mode, or the person in the car with the second key/paired phone should be able to lock from the touchscreen. Either should turn off the ultrasonic alarms.

    Green number plates

By legal markings I assume you mean the BS AU 145 and manufacturer name. Both of these have been present on road legal plates I have ordered from proplates previously although they are small and inconspicuous. I wouldn't personally stick anything on or over another number plate, the police are...

Gridserve Charger Sites in UK [megathread]

I did have a thought, would they be providing friendly advice to encourage those that can't utilize more than 90kw to use the lower power chargers. I know other places encourage this by having higher prices on the faster chargers (not a huge fan of this). I'm a bit surprised they didn't make...

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

Got my appointment, called up and spoke to a very helpful lady, things were being held up by my trade in, and the car is about to arrive on site. Earliest I could get off work was Friday, so they booked me in for then. Its at Chelmsford, so I presume they are doing deliveries again.

    Regenerative Braking - regen

Bjorns video certainly shows it shuffling the regen around to wherever it thinks is best depending on grip. You can see each motors torque with the scanmytesla recording, sometimes its entirely the front motor doing the regen, sometimes the rear, and sometimes a split. 4:53 in particular shows...

    Technical question re Bluetooth

It's possible, but the short range makes it a very unlikely route. It would presumably firstly need to be a relay attack as newer NFC cards are pretty resistant to cloning or replay type attacks. This is based on the assumption they are using decent NFC cards that are properly encrypted. I've...

    Regenerative Braking - regen

From what I can tell the rear motor on the AWD cars is preferred, after all it's the most efficient motor. But in low grip or when making turns it shifts some or all of the regen forward to the front motor. Bjorn did a video showing it quite well with scanmytesla last year.

Gridserve Charger Sites in UK [megathread]

Its not too far from me, but I'm rarely heading that way, it would add 20 minutes onto a semi-regular long journey to go there at a point where I probably wouldn't need it anyway. But, I will certainly try to pop in for support. I'm sure they have some mutually beneficial agreement with Tesla...

Gridserve Charger Sites in UK [megathread]

Gridserve have got the boxes all checked. Good pricing, large capacity, multiple revenue streams, renewable energy, good facilities. I wish them all the best, competition and ingenuity is needed to try and kick the lazy incumbents and the profiteers into shape. 10 or so currently in the works...

    Teslas and road gritting

Ah yes, top/surface dressing, or "microsurfacing". Absolutely hate it, they spray tar down on the surface, then sprinkle grit on top. Wait a few weeks then they vacuum any loose grit back up. In the mean time its like driving on gravel, and even after they vacuum it up it keeps coming off the...

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

Agreed. Always been a fan of well polished Black, but my last car was Pearl White, and it looks stunning. I'm not sure the Tesla pearl has quite as much depth, but still, definitely a convert. It shows dirt badly, but hides microswirls in the paint. More time cleaning but less time polishing...

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

I suppose my concern I'm expecting to go on a long(ish) journey over a number of days. Considering the absence of standard cruise control system or speed limiting on the 3. I would rather do this journey in my trade in vehicle if the model 3 has no functioning cruise control/tacc as a result of...

Discussion of A/C use in cold weather

Not sure what cars you had, but both of my last 2 cars would shut off the AC automatically when you hit the gas hard. The AC light would stay on, but you could feel the vent air warming up. Maybe only in certain driving modes like "sport" perhaps on newer cars though.
  48. 9

    [UK] 2020.48.x

I remember similar issues coming up on another EV forum, the car only charged when the car was locked then you can't sit in the car while it's charging. This only seemed to affect AC charging, DC charging had a different logic. Whilst its unlikely you will be waiting with the car while AC...

What would/will you pay for heated steering wheel?

I can't imagine why they would change the whole steering wheel, finish, switchgear etc.. only to then change it again for a new function a couple of months later. I guess until someone cuts open a brand new steering wheel, or Tesla actually tell us, we won't really know.

    2020 Q4 'M' delivery club

Seeing a few more reports, including a review car, of failed repeater cameras. Do we know exactly what stops working with one failed camera. FSD/Autopilot presumably wont work, but does normal TACC without autosteer work at all? Just wondering if I'm offered one should I take it and wait, or...
