Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

AP is definitely getting worse. It has now started slamming on the brakes every time I’m on the inside motorway lane and drive past the chevrons on the road as you pass an exit slip road. I’ve had the car three and a half years and AP has been dangerous for the whole time.

    Ending a Tesla Lease early

I’m not a financial advisor, but here are my thoughts… When it comes to renewal for the mortgage, you could look to extend the mortgage term by another five or ten years. This will reduce your monthly payments, but will increase the cost of the mortgage interest across the years. When you are...

    Parking ticket worth a challenge

I had it happen to me in Milton Keynes a few years back. I appealed and sent them the ticket. The fine was overturned. It’s worth a challeng.

Passenger seat adjuster switch broken. Again.

I’m on my third now and I’m leaving it broken. I’ll get if fixed for one final time when I’m getting rid of the car in 12 months time.

    Pre 2021 that bad?

I’ve got a 2020 M3P. It’s been no trouble at all. 3 years of trouble free motoring.

Passenger seat adjuster switch broken. Again.

Interesting that more people are reporting this issue now. When I first raised this, there were very few responses and on another thread I was told I was careless and it was a non- issue. Hopefully more people post their experiences if this is a real thing and Tesla might take note.

Thanks. I’ll have a look back and see how the heck I managed to get a £16 discount.

    Octopus Energy Saving Sessions

Does anyone know how the Octopus ”Power Hour” energy saving sessions are actually calculated? I’ve taken part in all of them, but the results just seem totally random. I’ve had sessions where we’ve switched off as much as we can and gone out, only to be told that we didn’t manage to save...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

Ah, I see, in the car app! I stopped all of my car app scheduling as I thought it messed up IO. In that case, I’ll switch it back on as before. Thanks.

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

It says “In the schedule menu in the app set off peak charge on and off peak end time to 5:30” I don’t get any of those options in the app? I can only set the charge limit (100%) and the ‘ready by time’, all contained under the Devices tab of the app.

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I’m new to IO having previously been on Go for the last few years. Last night at around 8pm, I dropped my daughter at the gym, plugged the car in and went inside. 10 minutes later I noticed the smart meter flashing red and it was pulling over 7 kWh. I never had a schedule from Octopus and...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

I’m also in Bristol, so await responses with interest. With day rates at 46p KWh now, the business case for solar is very strong.

    Seat Controls

While I agree it must have an element of carelessness,, to break once is careless, to break twice is very careless, to break three times suggests there must be an issue with its design or location. It literally lasts no more than a few weeks each time. It is always the passenger side, so I...

    Seat Controls

It gets knocked by people’s feet as they get in the car. Very poor design. I did think about building a protective enclosure, but have decided to leave it broken and get it repaired for one last time just before I get rid of the car next year.

Yep, I got it repaired. It happened AGAIN within 3 weeks of the repair. I’ve given up now, it’s staying broken.

Instant impression plants next to charging wiring

Interestingly, I have a pyrocanthus in a pot near my charger, though not as close as you. It is on a north facing wall and struggles, particularly in winter. As a previous poster mentioned, growing plants in pots is very difficult and they take a lot of looking after. In the summer, I have to...

    Range opinions?

I’ve got a 2020 M3P and your figures are well within expectations given the conditions and time of year. Generally, I get 20 miles for every 10% of battery and less in poor weather.

Yep. Years ago, when for the umpteenth time, it nearly killed me by switching off the lights mid way through a fast corner in a dark country Lane, I switched it off and haven’t used it since. Likewise, I rarely use cruise control or AP as it terrifies my passengers with phantom braking. My...

    Top up charging on route

Definitely download A Better Route Planner and download ZapMap. Plan your routes in ABRP and see where chargers are (and if they are likely to be working) in ZapMap. Don’t forget to add a credit card to your Tesla account too. Once you’ve done that, supercharging just works when you plug it in...

    Energy Cost in UK

Unless I’m missing something, the price of electric isn’t solely tied to the gas price, but is significantly affected by it owing to the huge increases in gas price? The cheaper generation from other sources is still happening, but there isn’t enough to offset the gas rises? At least that’s...

    EV Tariff conundrum

It all depends on how much you can shift your electric consumptoon to within the off peak period. The new Go peak rate is 31p a KWh, over double your current rate. You’d need to really max out your off peak four hour slot to get benefit from the 7.5p KWh rate. If it were me, I’d probably stick...

Has V11 reduced the number of inputs drivers make?

I have to faff around much more to find anything. I wanted to save dashcam footage yesterday, but couldn’t work out how. It used to be a button at the top of the screen that was constantly available. In the end I had to hit the horn, but this should not be necessary. The bloke in front thought I...

Anyone regretted getting a Performance M3?

My wife is the same. Hates the launch, while I love it. However, when she is driving and someone fancies a go at the traffic light grand prix, she is more than happy. It does feel very different when you are sat in the passenger seat, I must admit.

    Stated Range vs Real World

I think 20 inch wheels without aero caps also has a lot to do with it. Even if I drive my P extra carefully, it doesn’t get me anywhere near 240 miles range. Like you say, I bought a P because I wanted the look and the power. I wouldn’t buy a V8 muscle car and then complain about the mp, so as...

    Stated Range vs Real World

You definitely will not get 240 miles comfortably from an M3P. As other state, at best, I only ever get 20 miles for each 10% of battery In my M3P over 2 years of ownership. The LR is more efficient and you may well manage 240 miles in that. I think SR and P are similar on range. The SR may...

Anyone regretted getting a Performance M3?

Got a P and have no regrets. I love it. If you want a sports car and can put with all of the associated down sides, it’s a great car. If comfort, range and value for money are more important, the LR may well be the one for you.

    SMET2 meters

I’m guessing that you don’t own one then Glyn? This is utter nonsense I’m afraid. If you get an off peak tariff, they can save you a lot and by helping you to understand which appliances are costing you the most money, they help you economise. Charging at 5p KWh has saved me plenty, as does...

Can we have the Wh/mile odometer "card" back please?

The issue I have is that I want to see my efficiency live, not historically. I plan a drive and know what efficiency I’m expecting to hit in order to make a charger. As efficiency is quite variable, it was great to see if I was on target or going to need to slow right down. This is particularly...

Can we have the Wh/mile odometer "card" back please?

I would love this back. Used it all the time, but now impossible to use while driving and using Nav. Likewise tyre pressures. I got a pressure warning the other day and nearly hit someone else whilst messing around trying to find the tyre pressures to see if I had picked up a nail (again).

    Short/long stay airport parking

I think valet mode just stops someone driving it fast. To save battery, turn Sentry off and don’t keep checking the app to see how much charge you have left as it wakes the car and uses battery. If left asleep, the car should lose no more than one or two percent a day.

I think you might be right. If the lease company sell it now, they’ll be quids in. That is reflected in the new quote.
