Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

On the note of optimus progress. Its easy to look at the footage they share and then think its early days. Or that the footage is disconnected from the statements that its doing factory work. I was just looking at the optimus X account feed and noticed in the Jan 15 video that it had 3680...

PSA: If you have TSLA shares in multiple accounts your broker may have sent you multiple emails to vote for each account. But those emails may look nearly identical and you might not realize that you received 3 at the same instant like I did. I almost only voted with <3% of my shares.

Munger and Buffet were interviewed once where they talked about Musk - roughly a year ago to today actually - and they made it far more clear to anyone who doesnt already follow their investment patterns. They like easy wins. Musk likes hard wins. BH owes a great deal of its success to...

When you drive a Tesla it uses Google maps but the interface is still the Tesla app. Same will be true of baidu maps in China.

This is a guess but teslas previously showcased that they can build their own maps in the US that are more than your typical road atlas and can piece together a map of the roads that shows how many lanes, is there an island, which lanes are left turn etc. But China has data laws that might...

I suspect he’s expecting a release of FSD to come out before then that will bolster support for him by way of “look what I got done”. And I think 8/8 he picked because he has seemingly started to enjoy numbers with meaning (4/20 etc) and 8 is a homonym for wealth in mandarin.

It’s important to recognize that none of those things are a business plan. Somewhere in there mars will hopefully provide economic value that can be returned to earth. That will likely come in the form of research in the early days. But more importantly as this is an investor forum...

I’ve been in this stock - often leveraged- long enough to hold through multiple dips in my net worth exceeding 75% and held through long enough to see those same positions turn into gains. I feel my logic on this is not described by “not knowing anything”. Could I have timed it better. Sure...

In times like these it does feel somewhat relevant as sometimes looking at Musks actions through this lens is the best way to gain insight into what’s going on. Musk has more than once commented on how close Tesla came to deaths door over the years. And that Tesla is a key part of his plans...

Tell me you’ve never watched any of teslas talks on their FSD development without telling me you’ve never watched any of teslas talks on their FSD development. Sorry. Had to. Yes. It’s possible, and tesla does it. But real world driving is still better for finding edge cases they can’t...

I think there’s a misunderstand of how much work goes into building a NN like this. If you were to just give another company Tesla NN code and al their raw data they would still take years of ever achieve what Tesla has today. The amount of development that went into all the tools and...

There is ultimately an ideal time for them to switch prioritizing factories and switching to company owned taxis. Obviously there is no need for infinite factories. But ultimately if the capacity of factories to produce EV cars is less than all internal combustion vehicles worldwide then...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Short term? Cash. Long term, nothing. Also, medium term there is more value in building out factories than there is in owning the fleet. Tesla is better off selling cars that can be taxis to customers and getting paid for the car with a profit, and then taking a cut of the taxi service fees...

I’m excited about End-end but I have to admit I’m finding it seems to be regressed on a lot of basic stuff, like getting in the right turn lane in my neighborhood to turn right etc. The fact everyone else is singing positive songs makes me feel comfortable saying it’s just a matter of the...

I’d be curious if someone has the time and tools to look back and see how January and February China sales numbers that come out a few days into the next month affect the stock price in correlation to when Chinese new year is. Based on the way Elon speaks about it it seems to me the least likely publicly discussed project to succeed. The he says the potential rewards are high, indicating it’s worth trying and failing rather than just giving up because it’s hard. None of this indicates it’s going well, just that...

Buybacks are a total loss for Tesla. They are good for TSLA and its shareholders. But there is zero value or ROI for the company itself.
