Transitioning to Tesla Vision May 2021 builds will not have radar. Unclear if these cars are getting better cameras or AP hardware, or if they are just not putting radar to save money.

Took delivery of my LRMY 7seater last night. Build date 4/22, VIN 180. Of course old headlights, but pristine build quality. I know fit and finish is discussed a lot, but the gaps on mine are all small and symmetric. I am really impressed.

I totally agree that it makes sense to switch over after EOQ. I assumed they would pop up Q2, but they may wait to finish the M3 door panel rollout and the. Do the lights and trim at the same time on the Y. Ultimately it is all conjecture.

Steering responsive headlights have been around a long time and are legal. Matrix headlights combine high and low beam which adapt to not blind oncoming traffic. Different technology. The regulations in question relate to a separate high and low beam.

Audi has been lobbying the US to legalize matrix headlights since 2015 with no luck.

If this is truly a deal breaker for you, then I would call your SA and say you want to be unmatched to your VIN and place your order on hold (assuming you have a vin). Then watch the forums for visual confirmation of a MYLR with new lights and then click the “I’m ready to take delivery” button...

There was a report of new door wood dash trim on the Model Y (in addition to 3). I assume yours does not have that? Thanks.

In the 7-seater waiting room thread, someone posted that they took delivery of a 180xxx 7-seater with the OLD headlights.

This is something different. This is the same trim as always, but the factory just accidentally put a door panel from a black interior car into a white interior car.

The VINs aren't perfectly sequential. E.g. my VIN is in the 180s but was made the 4/22. But you are correct that there have been no sightings of any MYLR with the new headlights. There have been several April 2021 builds delivered with the old headlights.

I think it varies by state. I was told in Texas we cannot hand them a check at delivery due to state law. You can do a cashiers check, but it has to be mailed ahead of time.

If you don't have the new lights upon delivery your only recourse is to reject the car and wait. I don't see retrofitting as an option. Even if technically possible, they have no incentive to do that. I don't think they care what their representatives say or don't say. You get what you get, so...

Do you have a VIN? I am curious how your SA would know this if the switch hasn't happened yet. I am not sure my SA even knew what I was talking about when I asked about the "new headlights".

The ScanMyTelsa app can show what size the pack is new. The Model 3 LR and P went to a 82kw pack a while ago. The MYP has the new pack. Most reports say the MYLR has the older 75kw pack. Here is the thread talking about it...
