    2016 UMC with 2023 Model Y?

I have a 2016 UMC and it will not seat fulling in our 2023 Model Y. It seems like Tesla intentionally broke compatibility with older mobile charging connectors (in 2018?). Can any of you confirm this and do you know why they would not want an older UMC to be used with a newer vehicle?

2023 Model Y LR Battery Capacity?

nvrm, I found the voltage and amp-hour that @domenick mentioned. It's on page 3 but the units are missing. It just says "Battery Energy Capacity 235". If you assume this is amp-hours (which I think it is), they you do get the 84.6kWh result. Thanks @domenick! and all.

2023 Model Y LR Battery Capacity?

I still don't see an battery pack size mentioned. I agree with @dafish 's math. Using the charging efficiency, you can get a good estimate. Is it there, explicitly, and I'm missing it?

2023 Model Y LR Battery Capacity?

I'm trying to figure out the pack capacity in the Model Y LR (2023). The answer I get from the math and the answer I find online don't match. The sites I found online say it is from 75kWh to 82kWh. However, the Monroney sticker says 28 kWh per 100 miles and 330 miles range. So that's 28 * 3.3 or...

Model X 90kWh battery pack degradation

Our Model X 90D is now 5 years old and the degradation has leveled off! I've been collecting battery capacity data ~monthly (and with each SW update) since Sept 2017.

    Heated Cup Holder?

Do you have a heated cup holder for your Model 3 that you'd recommend? If you know of one that fits well in the 3 and works well, please drop a link. Bonus points if it is Tesla branded.

Seat Position/Driver Profile Not Working After 12V Battery Replacement

I have the same issue in a 2016 Model X. The steering wheel and mirrors change position, but not the driver's seat. I have not had any issues with the 12V battery. I'm not sure when it started, perhaps with one of the SW updates. I have a service appointment coming up to have them look at it...

Model X 90kWh battery pack degradation

I have a 2016 Model X 90D. We just hit the 2 years of ownership anniversary. ~25k miles and about 4% degradation according to TM-Spy. I am expecting the degradation to slow down now based on the other graphs that I've seen.

    Energy Table or Graph?

Thanks @TexasRat, that did it. For anyone else reading this, here's what was happening. If you click the right scrollwheel, you get one set of options (fan speed, recent calls...). If you long-press the scrollwheel, then you get a different set of options (energy, trip, music...). The reason...

    Energy Table or Graph?

In the binnacle display, on the right side, sometimes it displays an energy-use table, other times it is a graph. I have no idea how to change it from one to the other or why it sometimes changes on its own. Anyone one know? I've held down the right scroll to see the options. I don't see...

So has Tesla hit 200k US deliveries? Is the tax credit over in September or December?

Now that it seems very likely that the 200k mark will be (has been) crossed in early July, Tesla has to deliver as many cars as they can before the end of the year when the tax credit will be halved. Cars With Cords: Tesla's Race With The US Tax Credit

Tesla Roadster Rocket Thrusters Explained By Tesla Patent

During the annual Tesla shareholder meeting, CEO Elon Musk announced that Roadster 2020 would have a SpaceX option package that will include rocket thrusters. Later, Musk tweeted a few more details: the thrusters won’t actually combust; instead, they will expel high-pressure air to give the...

Moats: Why Tesla Can Do What Other Car Companies Only Dream About

I wrote it and I've owned a Tesla since 2016. Many businesses have long phases of cash burn while they are growing. This is no significant indicator of the companies long-term success or failure. They had record revenue and a growing market share and they will be moving into more segments...

Moats: Why Tesla Can Do What Other Car Companies Only Dream About

The economics might work out the same (or better), but the customer experience is so much better. And the people that work there are Tesla employees, not dealership employees. This means they are aligned to Tesla's goals. How many stories have we seen about dealerships resisting manufacturer's...

Moats: Why Tesla Can Do What Other Car Companies Only Dream About

In modern business parlance, a moat is something that protects a business from competition or gives it an advantage. A moat could be a trade secret, patented product or process, or an asset that represents a significant capital investment. A moat could be a partnership, an exclusive license, a...

Blog Tesla: What to Expect in 2018

I have an X too. The visor is on a swing arm, you can put it where ever you need it. It does not have to be clipped in at the magnet spot. And you can fold it out to double the size, then you can have it flipped up or down, again effectively doubling the size. With that and being able to move it...

Blog Tesla Competition: Culture Eats Strategy!

You're right. I should have added this as a factor. The legacy carmakers have their hands tied by a board of directors and shareholders that expect quarterly dividend payouts. Tesla, on the other hand, has investors that are looking for top-line growth. These are the types that invested in...

Blog Tesla Competition: Culture Eats Strategy!

If you read traditional auto press, you’ll frequently see stories along the lines of “big automakers are going to start making EVs in a couple years and when they do, Tesla is doomed.” Traditional automakers have the resources, factories, and engineers to design electric cars and they are very...

    Tesla Competition: Culture Eats Strategy!

The traditional automakers have decades of experience, incredible supply chains, vast dealer networks, and more. So does that mean that Tesla is doomed when the legacy automakers "wake up" and start making EVs? I don't think so, here's my reasoning, let me know if you agree or not. Tesla...

Blog When Will Tesla Hit 200,000 Sales in the U.S.?

They are not all that different, both predict most likely crossing the 200k mark in Q2. Troy's prediction has some small chance of hitting it in Q1, whereas this TMC blogpost has some small chance of hitting it in Q3 (if Tesla stockpiles US deliveries to maximize the number of customers that...

    2018 Tesla Model 3 Production: 80,000 or 264,000?

How many Model 3s do you think Tesla will deliver in 2018? Tesla's guidance is as high as 264,000, Ben Sullins of Teslanomics predicts 200,000. This (link) says only 80,000 (my guess). Yes, 80k is a lot, but that still leaves plenty of people on the waitinglist at the end of 2018 and that will...

Blog When Will Tesla Hit 200,000 Sales in the U.S.?

Last year was an exciting one for electric vehicles. Among the many milestones, there are two (or three) relevant to this discussion: one, the US Federal Tax Credit survived the political budget process; two, the Tesla Model 3 began shipping to Tesla employees in July and (3) to non-employees...

Blog Tesla: What to Expect in 2018

Following Tesla, there are always surprises. You never know when Elon Musk is going to launch a car into space or tweet about drilling tunnels, selling flamethrowers, or building a 50s style diner with food delivery on rollerskates. A few things that we should expect in 2018: Ramping...

What Surprises Will We See In 2018?

Right, which is why it would not be a shocker to see the demo this year (with caveats as you mentioned). Would you take it covering one million to one odds? If so, I have a dollar with your name on it :)

What Surprises Will We See In 2018?

Good one. This is not that different from the AP1 to AP2 change. There were many threads with people moaning about missing the AP2 by a few days/weeks. Seems very likely to me too. Hmmm. They will be spending a lot of money for the new Gigafactory(s) and the Megacharger locations. I don't think...

What Surprises Will We See In 2018?

I completely disagree. Tesla is very innovative and has many many ideas. We'll hear some very interesting ideas, that's for sure. We might not see them in a vehicle until 2020+ but there are a lot of things they could do. I really want to know what the "game changing" feature of the Pick Truck...

What Surprises Will We See In 2018?

What Surprises Will We See In 2018?
