    HepaKing Alpine PXE-X121-12EV DSP Review

I may have missed it @TwoK4drSi but what year is your Tesla? I see you reference 12v, so I'm assuming you don't have the 15.5v lithium ion LV battery, correct? I'm in DFW as well - and I DON'T want to hear your car because I will then become depressed and will want to figure out how to do this...

2023 RHD Model 3 RW - accessing power from frunk Li-Ion battery for auto frunk.

Is your install still working and are you happy with it? Looking at getting one for my Model Y with the same 15.5 LV battery

    800W RMS Amplifier install on 2022 model Y with new 15.5V Li-ion battery/AMD system

You aren't alone - I disabled my setup due to errors. Annoying. I'm currently researching how the Highland is powering two amps and hoping that will lead to some ideas. Really hating this 15.5 lithium-ion set up. I guess its better though than the 40v setup the Cybertruck has 😂

    Aftermarket Subwoofer in 22 M3P

I had a 2019 Model 3 LR and used the NVX system without any issues. That used a 12v system. That was solid. I put that system in a 2023 Model Y Perf and started running into "low voltage" warnings. Also the amp got very hot (probably cuz it was running at 16v now.) The short version is the...

Feedback on Body Kit ordered from W2bodykits.com

I'm curious - did the front spoiler attach with tape on the corners, below the fog lights? I got this same bumper (w2bodykits) and the tape doesn't even touch. Horrible design. I'm dealing with them now trying to send it back and get a refund, but they too are giving a runaround.

This is very helpful. For comparison, I was quoted $600 (which includes applying a ceramic coat). Thanks!!

Thank you. Any ideas on what a reasonable cost is for doing matte PPF on this particular lip?

    Service Alert: VCFRONT_a557_TLVBMS

Seeing the same VCFRONT_a557_TLVBMS_ConfigFromBmbModIdFailed error on a 23 MY. Got the error on Monday. Glad to see others got it as well - kinda comforting! 😁

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Update: I pulled my system out to see if errors persist. Other than always worrying if the amp was going to melt my carpet (runs a lot hotter on the 16v system) lol, I started getting strange errors, with the last one being VCFRONT_a530, saying the car detected a surge in the low voltage system...

    Mobile connector over heat?

The craziest thing… I swapped the mobile charger (since I have two) but kept the same 14-50 adapter. Still overheated. Then I changed the 14-50 adapter itself and no more overheating. Maybe those wear out? Not sure yet - still “testing”. The fan idea did cross my mind too lol. This constant heat...

    Mobile connector over heat?

I’m running into similar issues (in Texas) but of course to make it complicated, my 2020 Model Y charges in the hot weather (using 14-50, 32A) without the mobile charger going into heat protection mode but when charging my 2023 Model Y, it gets too hot at 32A. (I’ve had the charger since 2019...

Tesla Model Y Subwoofer Enclosed Box 10"

I'm leaning toward a similar route, but with the NVX 10" that I currently have. I found a box from Altrend but they discontinued it, so now it is build time if I can't find something else. Tricky with the sub-trunk dimensions - basically needs to be a 14" box

Nice! Is this in addition to the circuit breaker that comes with the NVX kit?

@Kwame Yeah, I liked that other post like a minute ago LOL Unfortunately it says it is for only the 2020-22 Model Y. I’ll keep an eye out tho.

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

I agree that in the grand scheme of things, the amp draw is nothing. If the update failure is somehow related though (which others have said similar), that’s the only thing it could be IMO. I’ve had updates “hang” over the years myself - never had this error though. One way to find out is to...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

If it helps, the NVX tech is the one who told me to set it to DC offset after I explained what was happening. I then tested it multiple times to make sure it was shutting off (which it is). It basically mirrors the factory amp in terms of when it turns on/off. Also, I just installed the...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Dang - it must be pulling enough to throw off the battery mgmt system. Also, the XLCA2 never shuts off (as you know) - don’t know if you saw my post about the XLCA2X Pro LOC but that does shut off when set to DC offset. Regardless of the LOC though, it has to be the amp pulling too much. I did...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Ok - lifted the deck in the trunk covering the amp and drove into work for 30 minutes listening to Drake, Ty Dolla and Slim Thug (chopped and screwed). 85% volume. Hitting hard. Feeling good. Got to work and checked and it was very warm, but not dangerously hot (like it had been). No real...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Has anyone looked into the feasibility of powering either the line out converter or the amp with the low voltage power socket in the trunk? My guess is the amp will draw more than 12amps but the line out won't - just looking at options to minimize having to tap power (even though I already did...

  31. S

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Cool - that will be helpful info. I’ve been running it pretty loud - maybe 85% volume, which I know it’s pushing the sub, but feels so good lol I’ll try some stuff tomorrow, with one being not cranking it up all the way

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Been testing throughout the day. My low voltage battery SOC is staying constant around 78, whether the car is turned on after a few hours of sitting or when it’s been on for a few minutes. Stuff is definitely shutting off which is great. My only issue now is heat with the amp. The LOC used to...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Oh yeah, that's for certain. don't blame you for going with the toggle, just to be 100% certain. So far, going good with the XCLA2X PRO loc. Amp isn't hot when coming back to the car after 30 minutes, which lets me know it is cutting off. (before it was very hot all the time). Now I'm...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

It goes off when going to sleep after about 20 minutes - basically the same time as the factory amp. Are you using the NVX amp? I ran the 500RMS version for 2+ years in my Model 3 and never had it drain my 12v. However, that was with signal sense and maybe it was shutting off real quick. (I...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Important Update: I tested again and it using DC offset and it does work. I forgot I had to let the car sit for a few minutes when I tested last time. 🙈 I put a camera in the back and checked after 30 min. Sure enough, the power LEDs were off for the LOC and NVX amp. Also noticed the Tesla amp...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Yeah - I’m teetering between doing a toggle but be a little ratchet (which is what I normally do) or be fancy and all. If Orella has solved this, I may jump ship - if not, then it’ll have to be a toggle lol
  37. S

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

I contacted NVX regarding XLCA2 never shutting off. They responded and said to use DC Offset instead of signal sensing. However, the XLCA2 doesn’t have that option. So I ordered the XLCA2X and tried DC offset, but that didn’t work . Really lame. I know I can tap into something like the driver...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

It actually says 2020-Up That’s OK though, because now I’m on a mission to fix a bandpass or ported box for the sub trunk. NVX actually has a ported box for their 10” sub, but it’s slightly too large. Looking for something comparable - needs to be around 1.2cubic in total enclosure space (if...

Tesla Model Y Subwoofer Enclosed Box 10"

Another option - the simplest, and that’s just to put the NVX box in the bottom trunk. I can live with this for now lol
  44. S

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

Pictures from my install in a 2023 MYP. Not happy with the fit-n-finish at all. I know this isn't a 100K car, but now it looks like a jalopy in the back, which I don't like. Definitely do not recommend for the 2023, which has a different trim setup and dimensions in the back. Not flush at all...

Tesla Model Y Subwoofer Enclosed Box 10"

After installing the NVX boost box in a 2023 Model Y, I'm not happy with the fit and finish at all - it is 💩. I would not encourage anyone to purchase the NVX sub box if you have a 2023. 2020-22 only in my opinion. Current options: Hope NVX releases an updated boost box for the 2023 Model Y...

    NVX sub vs Orella

Where did you get it for $750?
  47. S

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

LOL - I did! So hard to tell if it’s running hot due to the 15v system or running hot because it is so incredibly hot outside! The low is in the 90s right now
  48. S

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

I had to unplug the high level input to the XLCA2 and it finally shut off (along with the amp). Any ideas for what else can be used as a remote lead for the line converter on a 15v system? I tapped the wires at the amp plug; maybe I need to tap the wires leading to the sub (from the amp)...

NVX Boost Subwoofer upgrade - installed

So, slight caveat - I noticed today that the amp and line converter were almost too hot to touch. A little concerning. It doesn’t help that it is a billion degrees in Texas right now though. I figured maybe some of it was due to running the VADM1 in bridge mode too, so I stopped doing that...
