Dented Front-Right Fender -- To Claim or Not to Claim

Good point on the CarFax. You are correct, there is some paint work. The $3K quote I got from a non-Tesla shop was to remove the fender, straighten it out, sand it, and paint it. One thing that is odd is that I feel a little alignment issue that just came on the last week or so. Since it...

Dented Front-Right Fender -- To Claim or Not to Claim

We have a very narrow (18') two-car garage that is about 100 years old and probably built for a Model T. My wife pulls in frontward and I back in so both driver doors can swing open to the center. Anyway, long story short, I clipped the garage pillar backing in and dented the front-right...

Any estimate for the cost of repair? 1 week old M3LR

Did you get an estimate for this? If so, and you don’t mind sharing, I’m curious what it was. I have a similar issue. In my case the dent isn‘t as bad, but I have some paint damage. I took it in for an estimate at a Tesla authorized place and the estimate was $6K. i am in shock and wondering...

Coolers for long weekend/week in trunk

No problem. It also matched the stormtrooper colors of my Model 3 😄

Coolers for long weekend/week in trunk

I ended up going with the RTIC 45 and received it yesterday. It fits perfectly. You can even open it a bit to access the contents without pulling the cooler out of the trunk. I didn't want a super long cooler and from the reviews/tests I saw online, it will keep things cold for a very long...

Coolers for long weekend/week in trunk

I noticed that, too...which is why I was going off the dimensions on Walmart.com. Maybe Igloo has replaced the model? Here are the links that The Wirecutter article has: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Igloo-Maxcold-70-qt-Hard-Sided-Cooler-Blue/47501131 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01265YO1W **...

Coolers for long weekend/week in trunk

I can’t confirm as I am looking for the same thing, but one of the Wirecutter’s picks…the Igloo MaxCold 70 may do the trick. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/the-best-hard-cooler/ The Walmart site has the dimensions as: Assembled Product Dimensions (L x W x H) 29.50 x 16.50 x 15.88...

Coolers for long weekend/week in trunk

I don't want anything that pulls power from the car. I don't want another way to worry about battery drain. I am debating between the RTIC 45 and the COHO 55 Quart Rotomolded Cooler from Costco. Both are just under 16" tall so they should fit in the trunk.

Coolers for long weekend/week in trunk

Thanks for posting this. I really want to buy an RTIC 52 but I went out to measure and came to the same conclusion...the trunk is 1/2" too short.

    Climate worse with 2021.36.5.5?

I noticed the exact same thing yesterday. I had to double-check to see if the climate was even on because it was not blowing warm air.

If Elon put out a car with oval wheels, how many would he sell?

    About that "yoke" steering wheel

i think you made the right call. This reminds me of Apple removing function keys for the Touch Bar thingy and pushing everything to dongles…..why? It’s almost like the designers have wagers to see how far the sheep will follow them. I would try it, but I doubt I would thrown down cash for half...

Tesla Model 3 is the most American-made car, new study says

I assume it’s volume. It a measure of economic impact. The S&X probably don’t move enough units.

    Prices are slowly going up?

You are the first person I’ve come across that classifies an S&P 500 index fund as “conservative.”

    [My]Tesla steals phone call ;-)

Quite an edge case, but interesting nonetheless! With BMWs, I just hope it connects properly when I am sitting in the car. It’s about a 50/50 shot. With my Model 3, no issues so far.

    LR Price Increase

I bought Model 3 LR in March for $1500 less than I would today. Pulling the trigger in March almost paid for my full front ppf and window tint.

    Just venting over “first scratch”

I feel you. I slightly curbed my back right wheel the other day with 400 miles on the car. I was in a rush to get out of traffic. Luckily, there was zero rim damage...only a little rubber scuff. I have 18" wheels with the aeros off. I am guessing that if I had 19" or 20" I would have got...

    Best Paint Color for Maintaining

I agree. I think MSM is better for the rocker and back when driving in the rain. After driving in the rain, my white was pretty dirty in those two spots but otherwise hid the rain spots well.

    Best Paint Color for Maintaining

First, I wish Tesla offered a proper silver like BMW....but since they don't... I went white and I am very happy so far. I was torn between Blue and White, then when I went for a test drive I took a stroll through the lot. We had just had three straight days of rain. Every car in the lot...

2021 vs 2020 looks and interior

I much prefer the 2021 look but, IMO, I think it now makes no sense to get the 19" Sport Wheels.

    PPF Prep?

That is my thinking as well. I washed the car yesterday and I did not notice any problems. I plan to go talk to the installer in person to understand what he thinks is needed or if he just doesn't want to get involved in it at all. I can understand people wanting to specialize, but I don't...

    PPF Prep?

I have a new white 2021 LR. I have an appointment to get a full front PPF in about a week. The installer I chose is also going to tint my windows. He came recommended by a friend for tinting and has hundreds of glowing reviews so I have no reason not to trust him. When I spoke with him I...

    Replacing the rear windows

I've been driving my new Model 3 for a week now. Today, I drove my wife's X3 for the first time since getting the Model 3. I was just on a mindless drive on the interstate with the X3 when I realized....man, it's loud compared to the Model 3. I have not done any scientific tests but I think the...

Sold my Tesla yesterday - No Sellers Remorse Yet

I have driven BMW 3 series and X3s exclusively for 23 years....until today when I took delivery of my Model 3. My initial impression of the Model 3 is that it is quieter than my 3 Series...but my opinion is still forming. There are pros and cons each way. My guess is we will hedge for years to...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Thanks. I was fully prepared for a late May, early June delivery so I was surprised when I got a VIN so fast. I was also happy the VIN was a high number (943xxx) so I had a reasonable hope it wasn’t a reject. I used the standard Mobile Connector that comes with the car. I went from 80% to 90%...

My doors are not sporting wood. Kind of glad, to be honest, though I would have been happy either way.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I had a very similar situation. The prior owners put in a DIY workbench in the back corner of the garage. Long ago I slimmed it down so my BMW would fit. Today I finished the job so the Model 3 would fit. It wasn't a hard decision :)

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Picked up my Model 3 today (ordered 3/26). It was in excellent shape. I'm super happy. They fixed one paint issue where their was some rail dust on the hood....but nothing major. I feel lucky. A guy picking up the exact same car (White/Black/18") as me at the same time had frunk alignment...

2021 heated steering wheel Discussion thread

What are the first three digits of your VIN? Based on my discussions with Tesla, they aren't committing to a heated steering wheel in the Model 3, so it's luck of the draw.

Vendor We're the makers of 3D MAXpider KAGU Floor Mats.

Who is currently selling the ELITECT mats for the Model 3? The only place I can see them for sale is a random 3rd party seller on Amazon with poor ratings. Add me to the list of people who do not want a shiny logo on my floor mats. I am debating which floor mats to buy. The logo and...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I ordered 3/26/21 and got my VIN exactly one week later on 4/2/21. I order completely stock....White/Black/Aeros. I don't put a ton of miles on my cars so I buy a car about once per decade and keep it. I have extended that with my current car, a 2004 BMW 3 series....so I am due for an upgrade. I...
