    Wall Connector Gen3: Future-proofing with 60A breaker?

I can no longer edit this message, but wanted to add/clarify a few things: The basement is framed but open (no drywall or ceiling in place yet) to the bottom of the garage wall, and it would be a straight shot along a single basement ceiling beam, so the wire run should be fairly easy. Given...

    Wall Connector Gen3: Future-proofing with 60A breaker?

In regards to the distance, the panel is in the unfinished basement on the other side of the house, so the run is probably around 50 feet. The basement is framed but open straight to the bottom of the garage wall so the wire run should be fairly easy.

    Wall Connector Gen3: Future-proofing with 60A breaker?

Yes, I have 6 AWG, 50A breaker on my current NEMA 14-50 industrial grade outlet setup (house I'm selling). And it's not a matter of if on the HPWC--I already have it ready for install at my new house. Are you suggesting that 6 AWG is insufficient for 60A breaker? I wouldn't say I desire to...

P.S. He will be installing 6 gauge copper, regardless.

    Wall Connector Gen3: Future-proofing with 60A breaker?

I have a 2021 SR+, and have been using a NEMA 14-50 outlet since last June. It's been great. However, as good as this is, I couldn't resist ordering a Wall Connector as I am moving to a new house where I don't plan to move for many, many years. I know the SR+ can only charge at a max rate of...

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Well, it's not strictly cosmetic, as a lot of mobile charger supports are designed for the unit to hang down. You could make it work like this, but you probably ought to have specified to the electrician how you wanted it. If you can get him to flip it without charge, I'd get him to flip it...

    Before/After Tint: 35% Stratos windows; 70% windshield

I got full tint (35% XPEL Prime XR) on the back glass (and sides, with 70% on windshield). I don't like the look of the half-rear jobs. I was also concerned about loss of visibility, but luckily the shop that did my tinting (and PPF) had a Model 3 there with 35% on all of those windows, and...

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Oh, meant to comment on this as well. You can (and should) do this, for similar reasons as to the wires. If you don't have access to that emergency pull, you won't be able to unlatch the frunk if something goes wrong with the EV Offer motor. You just need to run the loop cable under the metal...

    Disappearing phone interface/ controls

I think your phone controls can be accessed by swiping the area on the left side of your console below your car, where you swipe to see your trip details and your tire pressure.

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Mine was the same (no wires attached to the tow hole cover). The wires are there, and you'll want them attached to the tow hole cover in case you ever need to open your frunk if the 12V battery is dead. Tesla just did a poor job of securing the wires to that tow hole cover. You'll find them...

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Raymond and Warren have been pretty responsive to me via Telegram. Nonetheless, there is a 12 hour difference for me, so it's not ideal if you are looking for real-time feedback from them. Surprisingly, sometimes they do respond at what would be 1:00AM their time on a Saturday night, but then I...

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Before I ordered, when I told them I received my new 2021 M3 in late June, they asked me to check to see if my frunk support looked like this (attached). It did not. I guess that’s a possible change in July deliveries, at least in some locations? They told me to order the one up to 06/2021...

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

I have ordered the EV Offer kit, and recently rewatched the latest Mark 4.0 installation video by Raymond. I’m pretty sure when he connects the beeper speaker, he suggests we can disconnect it if we don’t want to hear it.

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Thanks! Really grateful for your helpful posts on here. And I have ordered it (the Tesla Offer one). I do not have Homelink—I just use a Siri shortcut from my iphone to open my garage. Free, and it works. I took the free shipping option, so it will be a while (up to 3 weeks, it seems).

Hansshow vs Tesla Offer Power Frunk/Trunk - which one to buy?

Epic thread. I had never heard of "cable pulling lubricant", but had also never thought to lubricate cables for a tight pull! Awesome. I had never heard of "gummi phlege conditioner", either! Another awesome thing to learn about. @tlr1000, between Raymond's videos, Frugal Tesla Guy's switch...

Vendor TEMAI Model 3 accessories. Free giveaways and upcoming products! [2021]

I saw a YT video of that Model 3 Gravity Phone mount, and wanted one. Then I found out they don’t yet fit my 2021 M3. Would love to win one of those, even if I have to wait ‘til September to collect it.

    Owners Manual crashes Tesla's computer

I agree with pretty much everything said above by MDDriver. Still, for you guys accessing your online manual while driving, don’t do that. And don’t let a passenger do that now that you know about the bug. My Model 3 came with a hard-copy manual in the glovebox. It’s not that hard.

    Owners Manual crashes Tesla's computer

I don't want to make light of the console crash when reading the in-car manual, but I think you're being a little melodramatic. First, I wouldn't read the manual while driving. If my console went out while my wife was reading the manual while I was driving, I'm sure I would have an idea what...

    Owners Manual crashes Tesla's computer

Yeah, well, don’t RTFM while you are driving. I get your point—the console crash sucks and can be scary. But I’m more scared of other drivers not keeping their eyes on the road than my in-car owner’s manual.

Do rear window stress fractures still occur?

Yeah, that's the thing I'm not getting a feel for--how prevalent is/was the issue. In this forum, we can find maybe a dozen or so cases of rear window cracks. But is that just a few out of hundreds of thousands? How many were caused/exacerbated by ceramic tint? And most reports on here are not...

Do rear window stress fractures still occur?

Or were they more common in early Model 3s? I picked up my Model 3 less than 2 weeks ago, and am considering tinting the windows. But I see many posts about stress fractures in the rear window, and how ceramic tints may contribute to these cracks. But most of these occurrences seemed to have...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Good points regarding predictability and smart features. But I think you may be overreacting to the phantom braking. I have only had my M3 a week now, and haven’t yet experienced phantom braking, but I have with my wife’s Honda Odyssey. It’s not frequent, but it is annoying when it happens...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Interesting. I don't know anything about past autonomous driving ideas, just thinking out loud. Never heard of V2V. I wasn't thinking of one vehicle knowing another vehicles entire route--more just a case of knowing that the other car plans to change lanes at a speed of X, and adjusting...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Maybe the AHB is also for the driver's benefit, to maximize their vision and to reinforce that they are ultimately responsible for the vehicle? I do agree that Tesla does have the opportunity to truly re-engineer the driving experience. For example, Teslas could one day share data with each...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

I'm sure the restricted cruise control speed will go up to at least 85 in future Tesla Vision releases. Not sure it should ever be raised above 90, even if capable. Personally, I try to never drive above 80 (unless overtaking a hazardous condition), so I'm good with the new update. Is minimum...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

I can't imagine relying solely on car sensors (vision, radar, or lidar, etc) in poor conditions. For me, if visibility isn't great, I'm always going to want to take more control of my vehicle, or not drive at all. Sure, even when I'm taking control, I want all the safety assistance I can get...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Yeah, that was my worry when I placed my order in May--I didn't mind waiting 8 weeks or so, but if I didn't get in on Q2, would I be waiting until the end of Q3? Seemed very possible.
  30. Z

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Fingers crossed for you as well. A Norcal thing? Seriously, wonder if it's a part of some logistical/distribution thing based on location.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Ah, I take it back, then. I had seen your first post where you had said you had a July EDD range, but I missed/forgot that you were responding to someone asking if anyone else had been pushed back to July. Fingers crossed for you.
  32. Z

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Does it? Has Tesla ever offered any hardware upgrades? Seems like new hardware could be retrofitted into older cars in some cases.
  33. Z

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Well, that customer's original EDD was in July. So, again, if we would all ignore the daily EDD changes, we'd find that Tesla is meeting the end of the original EDD range nearly all of the time (as far as I've seen). And they are clearly pushing a lot more cars out at the end of the quarter...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I wouldn’t go that far, and poster can still enjoy his new car. Just ridiculous that anyone at Tesla would sign off on that interior trim alignment as “good enough”. Regarding the condensation, that happened with my last car (Subaru), too. But it was dry when I purchased the car, so wasn’t...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Good luck! That is a bummer, and surprising, unless CarMax just missed something the first time? Did you try getting quotes from Carvana and Vroom? For whatever reason, my Subaru fetched a lot more from Carvana than from CarMax, which was not far off from Tesla's offer.
  38. Z

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Oh, I agree that selling to a private party is a hassle. When I said "or someone else", I meant Carvana or Vroom, etc. As I say, it's a seller's market. Anyways, glad you got a price you were happy with.
  39. Z

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Why not? It's a seller's market, and the price Carmax offered would not have dropped substantially if you sold to them (or someone else) a month or two later. Anyways, hope you get the car soon. Seems likely that you will.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I think as long as that last date isn't sliding, there's not a strong reason to doubt a June delivery. As far as selling your car, I agree that you should be aware that you could be without a car longer than expected. You almost definitely won't get your Tesla by the front end of the initial...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Well, waiting for your order to go through the process is pretty much a sure thing—you’ll eventually get your car, and almost always within the first EDD window they give you. I think many of us stress out on the daily changes to the EDD, or stress out when our EDDs DON’T change for a few days...

    Aero Wheel Cap Kit

I saw those on Tesloid have a "will not fade" clause in their description, and a one year warranty. Maybe worth taking a chance on (and further protecting with 303 Aerospace Protectant), but they are twice the price that @ArdeliaMapp paid ($40 vs $20).

Good point. But I’d still hate for them to look like crap in just a few months. Maybe 303 Aero Protectant would help—it seemed to keep the black plastic on my last car from fading after 7 years. They do look good on your car.
