    Speed restrictor -July changes

I’m not hugely worried about it. The requirement is for it to be fitted to new cars, and although we get regular software updates they don’t make the car new.

Newport Pagnell North are all drive-through style. About the only way it can work with the cramped car park, but ominously suggests they're opening them to other manufacturers. 250kW V3.

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

Is what we do ourselves that much different? Basically getting in a car and practising on public roads? They can have FSD running on the 2nd Autopilot computer and every time its decision varies from the driver's, you get a training point for your data. Or you can have it go around in a...

Or they could revert all non-V4 chargers back to Tesla owners only, which would address the problem nicely.

Model X 2020 and enhanced autopilot

EAP in the US and UK are very different things and not really comparable. It has its problems but as my journeys are 99% motorway it's just about worth it for me to avoid the constant "bing-bong-bong-bing" whenever you change lane. It's better than it was.
  9. F

MY LR questions on the UK spec

Automatic lane change only and nope, just outright purchase. Having said that Tesla apply EAP to all their used vehicles, but since their prices are about £3K higher than any other used car dealer I'm not sure this is a saving.

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

The reason Tesla has gone down the end-to-end neural network route is for precisely this reason. They don't need to teach it what all these bits and pieces are, they're implicitly included in the training. So in general it'll do the same as a human does, which is to improvise carefully. None of...

How much of a rush to sell? My Model 3 goes back to the lease company in early September and I want to stick with Tesla. What's the mileage on it at the moment? :)

Autopilot is getting worse, not better.

It’s definitely better than it was a year ago. Points deducted this morning for deciding to indicate and attempt to swerve off the motorway onto a slip road at 70mph though. Still not sure why it does that.

    M3 Multiple 'Minor' Alerts

a051 required a charge port replacement on my Model 3. You can ignore the eCall one if it’s not present all the time, and you can fix the USB one by unplugging it and plugging back in again.

Ionity cuts EV charging prices across Europe, EXCEPT UK!

Why on earth would Ionity cut their price when outside of Tesla they’re already cheaper than the competition?

    [UK] 2024.14.x

I looked for this tonight on my drive down to work and it definitely biases away from HGVs. Quite subtle though. Only one attempt to stamp on the brakes and this was caused by the moron in the lane next to me using FaceTime on his phone.

Yep. Even with the updated maps. Overall I’m pretty impressed with this update on my Atom Model 3. It’s noticeably smoother and Netflix is now useable again. The extra visualisations for other vehicles are interesting (though I’d not show oncoming traffic on the motorway by choice because it’s...

I quite like the regen / power bar. The lack of one in the Mach-E really annoyed me when I had one for the weekend. Not mentioned yet but a lot of new stuff in the service mode pages, including a new change-log separate from the normal car one. Also new navigation data downloading as I write.

Got it on my Intel Atom Model 3 today. Apart from the new UI all the advertised features seem to be there. Shame Audible doesn’t work in the UK though (the login QR code redirects you to Amazon.com instead of Amazon.co.uk). Unless anyone knows another way to sign in?

[UK] Does FSD have any second-hand value?

Yeah, I find EAP useful (although I think it’s a rip-off for what it does), but second-hand FSD is basically a lottery ticket and should probably be priced the same.

[UK] Does FSD have any second-hand value?

For those who sold their Tesla privately:- If you paid for FSD or EAP when you bought the car, do you think you got any of that money back when you sold it? I'm actually scouting around for a used Model 3 and would quite like EAP, but would probably pay a smidgen more for FSD at this point on...

    Model 3 Leasing UK

I've decided to just buy a used Model 3 when the lease is up in September. Even with salary sacrifice I'm not prepared to pay for more than the entire cost of the car and then give it back to the leasing company to sell on. Used Model 3 with Ryzen and OK mileage is about 26K.

    Intelligent Octopus charger failures

I've only had Intelligent Octopus fail to charge once, but a backup is to always set the charge schedule in the car to start charging at 23:30 when at home. If IO needs to add extra charge slots it'll override this, and if not you'll get at least six hours of electricity into the tank.

Daft Liverpool decision to ban EVs from car park

Arguably the problem here is the fire service giving dodgy advice. The hospital doesn’t really have a choice as they’d be in an indefensible position if something did happen. The fire service has a history of being anti EV. They’ve objected to battery installations all over the country on...

  37. F

    [UK] 2024.8.x

It's not the roundabout sign. It's down to the fact that Autopilot is written for US highways, and then copied and pasted for the UK with "left" changed to "right". US junctions get lane 1 as a slip road. In this case, the Tesla recognises that there's no hard shoulder; it's at a junction; and...

    Motorway Navigation Instructions

If you're still under warranty then it's worth raising a service request in the app for this. It won't result in a fix directly for your car, but they do get bounced upwards. Tesla is statistic-driven more than most companies, so this is about the only way to get things fixed.

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Because it's a business decision. Looking at the leaked video I don't think it could do the shiny car rendered when you're not moving with the shortcuts for bonnet / boot etc.

    [UK] Spring Software Update

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. The point I’m making is that it’s possible that the autopilot visualisation is actually being rendered elsewhere and just provided to the MCU as little more than a video feed from the autopilot computers (which are completely separate and independent...
  42. F

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Doesn't this support my argument? I notice that when the map is lagging, the autopilot visualisation isn't, which implies that it's being rendered elsewhere.
  43. F

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Assuming the 3D model is being rendered by the Intel GPU anyway. I can imagine the high resolution stationary version rendered on the iGPU, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the autopilot visualisation is being rendered by the autopilot computers and just piped down to the display.

    Changes to Supercharging?

But largely pointless if you have to pay £5 to access Supercharger sites, which is where things are trending thanks to their policy of putting them in hotel car parks.
  45. F

    Changes to Supercharging?

Enforcing the 70mph limit on motorways would also go a long way towards reducing both carbon emissions and air pollution, as would banning cars and diesel trains from idling when stationary. Turning off the start/stop functionality in an ICE car should result in an automatic increase to the VED.

Beginning of the end for Tesla

Not especially, but I do care about providers taking the piss, which is happening with the big three (and possibly Tesla as well, as their prices used to rise and fall with wholesale costs but have been static/increasing for a year).
