Official extension for EV use of HOV lane in California until Jan 1 2019

Have any idea what it will be the size of. Thinking maybe a Ford Focus,, I hope it won't be 5 more years. That will squash my chance of ever buying one. The baby boomers will be in there mid70s by then.

So if and when they put out the smaller car ,( E G what ever ) what size is it. Compare it to the size of say a Subaru Legacy, or a Ford Focus, maybe a Chevy Cruise ) I know they mentioned an Audi or a BMW some place on here. Wish they would do a convertible or even a coupe like the Honda coupe.

Tesla Model S P85D Sets 1/4 Mile World Record vs Hellcat....

Comes to 1/4 mile it is time not speed. If you dropped a car on the track already doing 100 MPH it would beat a car that started from a stand still doing 150. The S got to terminal speed sooner .

    GM Chevy Volt

If they could just get the Range up to even 50 or 60 miles on battery. I , and many other people , would be all over it. At a price of under $40,000 it would be just what people would be after... The Tesla S is a little out of the average consumers line of sight. Looking at the amount of Volts...

    GM Chevy Volt

Lower battery? What ? Like only 20 mile battery range. Was considering one with the defeater ( can turn off battery and save it for only in town driving. ) drive high-way on gas and in town battery. But I was expecting the range to increase to 50 mikes not decrease...

I will let Autoweek expire, you should too.

How much has Tesla spent on advertising? How much does the magazine expect in the future. One magazine that does not have advertising and is not partial to any brand is Consumer Reports. What did they say? They gave it a 99. Been reading CR for 50 years and that maybe if not the highest score...

Scratching the itch for a second EV!

    GM Chevy Volt

Thanks ! I think they are dropping the $7,500 deal very soon. That would be great. Dealer in the area has one for $32,000 on the lot. Not a big fan of silver cars . Seems everyone has one. Do not need a back seat. Present cars are a Subaru SVX and a Honda Accord Coupe. I also looked at the new...

    GM Chevy Volt

Since the Tesla S is out of my price rage at the moment in time, I may have to settle for a Volt. I have found them used in the. $20,000 range with low miles and in my locality. I may go test drive one in the very near future. Anything I should be looking for? Problems that I may be able to...

    The electrical motor itself

Just thinking to myself. The next thing you will hear is Hacker Hot Rodding the Tesla. Only a matter of time, someone will come up with electronics to increase it. Looking back in time. They came up with a chip for the FI cars. Not saying it is a good thing but it will happen.

    Would it be worth it

I have quite a bit of Auto body experience. I have friends in the auto business both auto body and sales. Acquiring a wreck from insurance auction would not be a problem. Model E

As a potential buyer, I see the E as being the poor mans Tesla. If the range was only 150 miles it would suit 80% of the driving public. If the car comes in at $40,000 or less , they will have a hard time keeping up with production. With the increase on charging stations, 150 mile spacing ,is...

Need cold weather advice for windows

Having a car with frameless glass for 20 years ( see Subaru SVX ) I found that spraying the rubber with silicone spray and then rubbing it with a clean paper towel , I do it 2 or 3 times during the colder months , really helps the glass sticking problem . May help on the Testla too?

    Fisker Karma

Wow! Just read through 250 pages of This thread. I was blown away 4 years ago when a Karma pulled up next to me. Not knowing a thing about it I researched it. I was not impressed then. Why does one need a big motor to just drive a gen to charge batteries? The motor as stated does not improve...

Wow what a story. This should not in anyway discredit the Tesla. I can't count how many Gas powered cars I have seen stranded that ran out of gas.. For the same reason you did, ( estimating how far one can drive with the little red gas pump lit on the gage. 0 miles left) . As once said I am...

Nissan Asks “How Much of a Premium Would You Pay For a 150-Mile EPA-Rated LEAF?”

I agree. I could live with an 80 or 100 mile range car in the under $40,000 price range. A $75,000 car is not for everyone. Even a tree Hugger is still thinking about saving money. When you are paying $30,000 more for a car, it is hard to justify. I would love to see 30% of the cars on the road...

Whole Foods stops using 350Green charging

Has anyone thought of operating a pay charge? If the Tesla super chargers or EV chargers had a slot u could swipe your card and pay even $1.00 or $.50 for a 1/2 hr charge ( for non Tesla cars) more places would put them up. Parking garages, restaurants ,motels. I see the future of parking meters...

    GM Chevy Volt

We'll if you only drive 25 or 30 miles a day, and rarely go more than 100 miles the Volt is a good choice, BUT we are back to maintenance , we have a motor, that requires oil changes, tune ups, emission test, muffler, starter motor ,etc. we that going on an extended trip, say 1,000 miles. The...

    The Oil Companies?????

Would it be great to have the oil companies beg us to buy their gas for 30 cents a gallon again. If we get enough alternate powered cars on the road it might just happen . Not in my lifetime but soon. If other companies follow Tesla lead and night fight it. We can make our own electricity. 3...

Tesla “Model P” – a compelling case for Model S in Police fleets

Old thread brought back to life... we are not figuring that Tesla could build a stripped down model back in the day ,the old Plymouth and Fords were not lux sedans. A lot of extras can be cut. Big battery, heat & A/C,and the computer tweaked for police work is all that has to be kept. Bet...

I love my SVX. I feel a lot of people lost that bet. I was the winner. The price was the killer. In 1992 $32,000 for a Subaru. Mine in 1994 had gone to $34,600. Sitting next to $14,000 Subaru cars on the floor. Competing against Corvette, that was less than $3,000 more . I would not have kept...

    tesla police cruisers

I think Tesla is missing a great opportunity, small towns could have electric police cars. Build simple cars ( 4 door econo boxes) for local dept. I think small towns would jump at the chance to buy a $70,000 car and a charger. Just think how much gas they would save in a year. :frown:

Funny sighting at Hawthorne supercharger today

I can't see why the Tesla charger can't have a slot in it were you can charge other EV for a fee. Maybe $2.00 an hour or $3.00 a 1/2 hour. I know if I was driving a non Tesla prod and I was stuck with 15 miles left, I would pay $5.00 for another 30 miles. Heck that is almost cheaper than GAS. I...

I drive an SVX. They made 14,000 in 7 years. Trying to get parts is almost impossible. We are canibilizing cars and retrofitting parts to stay on the road. Since there is nothing that would be useful taken from a normal car. I hope with all my heart and soul that this car works out. It is...

    alternators

I was once told there is no free power. U must use energy to create power. Again what will rotate 13 alternators. Rotation of the wheels will cause friction, that will cause energy loss and lower battery range. A battery running a motor turning an alternator that charges a battery will only last...

What's the Ideal Distance Between Superchargers?

Anyone consider pay stations. Maybe $2.00 a 1/2 hour. You might get someone to stArt a franchise of charging stations and tie them into Dunkin doughnut or Starbucks. Mc Donald's. Cracker Barrel. Driving X country on $40.00 not to bad.

    The Cracker Barrel Network?

What a concept. Charge while you eat? Burger King ,Mickey dee , Wendy, IHOP, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, etc. they could fill in the gaps. Even if it was $2.00 an hour. 29 miles for $2.00 is a bargain.
