I don't remember installing the Tesla tap wire from the microphone grill area into the mirror housing for the IRO being that challenging. I think the IRO camera replaces the Tesla mirror cover so the IRO power wires are all hidden inside the IRO assembly. Super Clean installation... Looks...
Tesla did stop offering the Ludicrous upgrade in 2017 but I had ordered it before the through my Tesla app and Tesla said the Upgrade was backordered... and they'd contact me when they had the parts available. The didn't and when I followed up Tesla acknowledged they'd dropped the ball. After...
My March 2015 built P85D got the $5,000 Insane to Ludicrous upgrade in January 2018.
I haven’t received a warning to replace the Ludicrous battery powered pyro fuse so I’m guessing the battery fuse “countdown” began January 2018 when the ludicrous upgrade was installed… not it’s January 2015...
2015 Model S P85D on original HV battery.
80,000 miles
90% charged at home at 64A / 240V on Tesla Gen 1 and Gen 2 Tesla Wall Connector on 100A breaker (80A max charge rate)

Large Performance Rear Drive Unit just replaced by...
My Gen 1 UMC that came with my 2015 MS P85D charges fine with an our dad's 2023 Model 3 LR. My Gen 1 UMC also charges faster than his current Gen UMC he bought with his 2023 M3.
My Gen 2 Tesla Wall Connector on 100A breaker has also charged every Tesla we've connected including a 2023 M3...
I paid QC Charge to pull my LDU speed sensor 2 months before my 2015 MS P85D's warranty expired. Took pictures showing coolant and debris on the speed sensor and presented these pictures to our Tesla Costa Mesa CA Service Advisor and strongly suggested they replace it. They did replace my LDU...
Does my March 2015 built 2015 P85DL ($5,000 Ludicrous Upgrade) have a fuse with a battery?
it went out of its 8-year Extended Warranty warranty August 1st. Currently at 79,000 miles with no battery or fuse issues / warnings.
Runs great !!
Sorry my comment came off as offensive. I meant it in humor 😂 but clearly you didn't take it that way.
Confirmation that my Model S is a 2015 P85D... although more precisely a P85DL+ with MCU 2.0.
LOVE range mode. Use it when our projected destination SoC <= 20%. Definitely adds some range.
My iPhone 13 Pro Max works great in my 2015 MS P85D with MCU 2.0,
Recommend you REMOVE your iPhone from your Tesla's Bluetooth... and REMOVE your Tesla from your iPhone 13 Pro Max... then add your iPhone 13 Pro Max back to your Tesla. Remove / Re-pairing Bluetooth devices fixes most...
Not true. My 2015 P85D with dual 40A onboard chargers can charge up to 80A using my Gen2 Tesla Wall Connector on a 100A circuit after the MCU 2.0 upgrade (which we LOVE).
Best solution is to get your wrecked Tesla to a Tesla Collission center (body shop). I got wonky estimates from 2 Tesla certified body shops to replace my 2015 MS P85D rear bumper a couple of years ago. They BOTH insisted that the cost would almost assuredly be HIGHER and the turn around time...
Great car !!!
You might be able to get more than the other P85D listings since you have a NEW 90kWh battery pack if MOST of Tesla's 4-year / 48,000 miles new (not refurb) battery warranty remains.
The Performance Plus Suspension is AWESOME since it adds:
upgraded dampers
upgraded stiffer...

SCE's new TOU-D-PRIME residential rates DEFINITELY require changing the times we use electricity at our SoCal home... especially charging our 2015 Tesla Model S P85D.
We don't have solar at our home so we absolutely minimize our power consumption between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM, ESPECIALLY Tesla...
Extremely doubt that’s under warranty.
First stop after taking delivery of a Tesla with 21” wheels should be to Discount Tires (America’s Tire out West) to buy their Tire Certificates which DOES cover ALL road hazards with 100% (not prorated) replacement if there’s ending remaining tread wear...
Last month I took my 2015 P85D with 75,500 miles to Tesla Costa Mesa SC with a short list of repairs including asking them to pull my P85D's rear Large Drive Unit ("LDU") speed sensor and check for coolant since this is a known issue. They didn't so I took it to the awesome guys at QC Charge in...
Obviously I could call our local Service Center but...
I asked our local Service Center to check this when I had our P85D in a couple of weeks ago for a couple of other warranty repairs including:
abnormally loud "gear whine" in the front drive unit (acknowledged it was louder than every other...
2015 MS P85DL+
75,000 miles
8-year Tesla Extended Warranty expires in 5 weeks.
Just verified coolant on the rear drive unit speed sensor (see pictures).
How do I get our local SoCal Tesla Service Center to replace this under warranty?
We love our P85D which we bought new 7 years & 11 months...
Thanks! I really appreciate your advice!
Would this adapter cable work in my 2015 MS P85DL with MCU 2.0 & 4G LTE upgrades? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KQK9SF7?tag=tmc064-20
What ODBII reader would you recommend with my iPhone 13 Pro Max?
Please provide a URL to the "Full thread here on...
What CANbus reading device and app(s) do you recommend? I have 4 months remaining on my 8-year battery and Tesla Extended warranties and want to make sure everything is working correctly before my warranties expire.
Thanks!
For reference, here's our 2015 P85DL's 234 mile Expected Range from Recurrent | Used Electric Car Reports & Insights at 72,000 miles, how this compares to other P85D's, and how it is charged. SoCal car with staggered 21" Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires on Arachnid rims.
Typically we...
Thanks for your prompt response!
So sorry to hear that it happened out of warranty.
What is the new 85 / 90 kWh battery going to cost?
Is it new or refurbished!
Did you get Tesla to your 85 kWh battery under warranty or are you paying for this out of pocket?
If under warranty, what symptoms did your 85 kWh battery have and what documentation did you provide to get Tesla to "comp" this replacement.
Curious since my 2015 P85DL 8-year battery warranty...
You ARE driving your P85D like a Hypermiling grandma if your Wh/mile are low 300s.
My 2015 P85D with Ludicrous upgrade, Plus Suspension, lightweight staggered Arachnid wheels, and 21" Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires at 42 PSI in warm SoCal has only averaged 364 Wh/mile for the past...
Which drive unit was replaced? My 2015 P85D's drive unit with 72,000 miles is also whining, especially in Range Mode.
Hope you get a new 90kWh replacement battery.
I'm VERY interested in your outcome since my P85D+ 8-year HV battery & drive unit + my 8-year extended warranty expire in 6...
I replaced my "Summer Only" 245 /35 R21 and 265 /35 R21 tires on my 2015 P85DL+ with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires on my staggered Arachnid wheels. Happy since I don't have to swap my 19" Tesla Cyclone wheels with Michelin All-Season tires although the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4...
That sounds like the logical choice. My Ludicrous 2015 P85DL+ extended Tesla warranty expires in 6 months and I'm planning on keeping it until Tesla offers a new Model S Plaid with:
FSD working more reliably
Hardware 4.0
updated HV batteries
400 mile range
Yes I know I'll have to be patient...
I just installed at the previously mentioned much larger better quality SanDisk 256GB High Endurance Video microSDXC card after formatting it MS-DOS FAT (FAT 32) in macOS 12.6 Monterey Disk Utility on my 16" MacBook Pro M1 Max laptop. Plug n Play replacement of the Kingston 16GB SD card that...
The reason I powered my IRO DashCam AP1 using a Tesla Tap power cable was to have it constantly recording, especially when parked... AND not splicing into any existing Tesla wires. EASY to tap power... and easy to power off my IRO DashCam AP1 simply by disconnecting the Tesla Tap connector in...
I just installed an IRO AP1 DashCam in our 2015 Model S P85D for $179 + sales tax (no tariff) from Amazon:

Our 2015 P85D came with dual chargers and a Gen 1 High Power Wall Connector on a 100A breaker (80A max. charge rate). Charging at 80A definitely heated up the HPWC charge plug and socket VERY hot as well as the charge cable near it. Tesla Ranger replaced our HPWC charge cable and cleaned our...
We installed a 41" x 61" 327W SunPower solar panel and 40A Renogy Tracer MPPT charge controller (converts 63V DC to 12.5V DC maintenance to 13.8V DC boost) on the roof of our Winnebago View 8 years ago. It generates enough power to run our RV's LED lights, ceiling fans, Verizon JetPack MiFi...
Same mistake I made so far but I bought AAPL stock a couple of times before the huge run up in price so no FOMO missing TSLA. I still have 15 months of my 4-year extended warranty remaining. Hope to recover some of that in warranty claims but our P85D+ has been the most reliable car I've ever...
Thanks for posting your P85D+ to Refresh LR or Plaid question. I've got a 2015 P85D+ too which still has 15 months remaining on my 4-year Tesla Extended Warranty so doing my recon too. The longer I wait the more chance I can get an Inventory LR or Plaid and newer features too (like FSD...
We've travelled on routes in our much more range limited (253 estimated but 150 to 200 max REAL miles) 2015 P85D than PCH several years ago when there were HALF the number of Superchargers there are now. Trips are easy to do if you use an EV planning tool like EVTripPlanner.com and enter your...
My 2015 P85D+ came with a "square" set of heavy 21" Turbines on ContiSportContact "Summer Only" tires. Fairly good handling but with a harsh ride.
I replaced the "square" set of heavy 21" Turbines with a "staggered" set of significantly lighter & stronger 21" Arachnids on Michelin Pilot Sport...
Come for a ride in my 2015 P85D+ which came the rare Plus Suspension and has 21" Michelin Pilot Sport tires on stiff forged Arachnid wheels. Personally I love the "sporty" connected feel of the Plus Suspension since I came from a Corvette Z06 and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Some passengers like my 80...
I replaced our "Summer Only" Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on my 2015 MS P85D with "All Season" Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires on staggered Arachnid rims. Happy with their performance but I've never had them in snow (it's in sunny SoCal 99% of the time). They are noisier than the...
Can anybody with a 2015 Model S with MCU2 upgrade get TeslaWaze to work since this upgrade?
All I get is a black screen when I go to Tesla Traffic Incidents and Information
The new Tesla V11 OS changes are significantly less confusing / frustrating than the Microsoft Windows 7 to Windows 10 which almost everybody has now forgotten about. The Windows 10 to Windows 11 OS changes created a lot of complaints which subside with use of the new OS.
Same confusion /...
