FSD fails to detect children in the road

LIDAR sees traffic lights that are not visible to cameras due to sun glare?

FSD fails to detect children in the road

Oh, I am not saying it is better, was just pointing out that it wasn't the same. I wonder how much control are we willing to cede to our cars to prevent an accident. Like are we willing to have a vehicle ignore our throttle/brake applications? With all the complaints about phantom braking or...

FSD fails to detect children in the road

That doesn't read like a FSD Beta accident. That reads like a "standard" autopilot accident.

FSD fails to detect children in the road

I was under the impression that AEB only slowed the vehicle down something like 20-25 mph, but the OM doesn't seem to indicate as such. What it does mention is if AEB is occurring there is an icon displayed (along with an alert and sound) that indicates it is in progress.

    FSD Beta 10.13

I think they stopped doing rapid updates after NTHSA got involved with the AEB bug. Or at least it seems like that is when the updates slowed down.

    FSD Beta 10.12

I am not sure how I feel about the yellow light logic. We have blinking yellow lights for intersections where the fire departments depart from. Sometimes the car will slow down a little as it goes through the yellow blinking light. This seems to translate to normal yellow lights where it slows...

    FSD Beta 10.12

Ugh my DSL hates me. Started the download on Wednesday. It never finished so when my car computer restarted it said the upgrade failed and to wait for the next FW push. Now I am going through FOMO. 😭

    Speed (and climate) destroys range.

Still Amazed at how bad regular AP/ACC is after 5 months

I think AP has gotten "worse" since all the media attention about the car running into perpendicular traffic (and running into emergency vehicles or really any car/thing that "suddenly" appears in the vehicles path). Now the cars are "overly cautious" attempting to stop for things it used to...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

They do, you just have to do math to figure out what the range is. Now should they just show those two numbers and not the combination they currently show? Probably.

Did you know the 3 heats the battery (actively) constantly while DC charging at any speed or temp?

It is an interesting catch 22 Tesla has bought on itself. The 3 used to not heat the battery at all when DC charging (we called it permanent range mode) when it was first released. Folks (rightfully) complained about how long fast charging took (in the cold), so they updated the charging system...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I still think some of this is the BMS best guess, my car dropped to 69kwh then slowly rose to 71.3 recently (I have just shy of 50K miles on my pack). If it were actual degradation it should not have increased, right?

    Door lock

It should lock though I forget the speed in which it does so. I know this because when I pick my child up from school I unlock the doors for him to get in without me getting out of the car and by the time I am at the intersection to turn on the main road I notice the doors are locked.

Picked up my Tesla in early December, worst car I've ever owned.

Now that you have TeslaFi it should be able to show you consumption on trips. It is possible to get high consumption if you are really on the accelerator a lot and going quite fast. The newer cars have heat pumps so I cannot relate to cabin temp consumption with my PTC heater.

    Racism lawsuit will go ahead

Only 157 years since everyone in America were considered people, 57 since they were “treated as such“. In the case of this lawsuit, it seems those laws have done a crap job at protecting some of “everyone”.

Same way every other horrible thing happens, not enough people care. I guess I am more surprised that you are surprised. Based on the last 14 years, this shouldn't be entirely surprising.

Not sure why this is surprising.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

IIRC Tesla only hide the bottom 3.5% of the battery, while others hide the top and bottom, so degradation numbers look better for them (well until you burn that part of the buffer).

Tesla lowers Model 3 range estimates in Europe due to extra power consumption of AMD Ryzen processor

In this case the CPU they are using isn't as fancy as the later variants, boost clocks work weirdly on pre Zen 2 (which this is) CPU's. Assuming all the cars are getting the GPU daughtercard (and not just the S/X).

IIHS implementing new safeguard rating for advanced driver assist systems

Ah. Yeah Tesla didn’t have actual LKA until 2020 IIRC. Which is why some of us see them as separate things.
  32. diamond.g

IIHS implementing new safeguard rating for advanced driver assist systems

Autosteer is lane centering. Tesla also has lane keep assist that sorta works, lol. I guess if you want to be really specific Autosteer can make turns and change lanes on its own, which kind of means it is more than lane centering, but for most lane centering is where it is at.
  33. diamond.g

IIHS implementing new safeguard rating for advanced driver assist systems

If they can do all that, why ever have them turn off (the lane centering options)?
  34. diamond.g

IIHS implementing new safeguard rating for advanced driver assist systems

So those lane centering systems allow you to say swerve to avoid pothole or road debris without actually turning the lane centering off.

Tesla lowers Model 3 range estimates in Europe due to extra power consumption of AMD Ryzen processor

I didn't think Zen+ was that much better on power, especially compared to Atom.

Tesla lowers Model 3 range estimates in Europe due to extra power consumption of AMD Ryzen processor

We don't know the chosen cTDP of the Ryzen part. We do know the Intel part is 12W and the Ryzen can be up to 45W (I actually think it is up to 54W, not sure where they got 45W from).
  40. diamond.g

Discussion: Updated Range and 0-60 times for Model 3 and Y

Yeah it can be up to 45W, it mostly depends on what clocks they are running the chips at, since 12nm isn’t that efficient. I wonder how low they could clock it to mitigate the power draw and still be more responsive than the Intel Atom used before.
  41. diamond.g

Tesla lowers Model 3 range estimates in Europe due to extra power consumption of AMD Ryzen processor

I’d call shens, if it is using the same Ryzen V180F as the S, then there is only a roughly 4x increase on power consumption over the Intel Atom, it shouldn‘t be enough to lower the range by 7 miles.
  42. diamond.g

Discussion: Updated Range and 0-60 times for Model 3 and Y

Just doing a search leads me to believe they are using Zen+ so the APU would be Vega. And it looks like it would have a 45W max power draw which is still higher than 25W, but not as bad as the 130-ish Watts Navi 23 with 10tflops would likely need. Ugh, Zen+ Is better than (the older) Intel...
  43. diamond.g

Discussion: Updated Range and 0-60 times for Model 3 and Y

Yeah looking at the parts catalog you are right. It is possible that the 3/Y are getting the same APU sans the external GPU. Has anyone determined if the APU is Zen 2 or Zen 3 yet?
  44. diamond.g

Discussion: Updated Range and 0-60 times for Model 3 and Y

As far as I can tell AMD doesn’t have a Zen 3 APU with a 10tflop integrated GPU. Or at least how we understand them to have 10tflops of fp32 power would require something like Navi 22, or a higher clocked Navi 23 die. Now Elon could have been talking about 10tflop worth of FP16 performance, but...
  45. diamond.g

Discussion: Updated Range and 0-60 times for Model 3 and Y

I am not. The MCU and FSD computer are two separate chips. From what folks have determined the new Ryzen APU (MCU) is the same part number in the S/X and 3/Y. So there isn’t a separate GPU. Really I guess we won’t know until someone takes one a part in a 3 or Y.
  46. diamond.g

Discussion: Updated Range and 0-60 times for Model 3 and Y

IF the Ryzen APU can pull 10 tflops like Elon proclaimed, it for sure pulls way more than 25 watts. Probably closer to the same power draw as the PS5 (~200 watts).
