I don't think it's fanciful at all if you look down the 2020-beyond road map. I do think if you expect it on the first batch of M3s, you are delusional.

This reinforces my belief that I'll lease my first M3, because it won't be hardware ready for full autonomy. By the time my M3 lease is up late 2020 or early 2021, autonomy hardware should be available for production cars.

I hope more people cancel as times goes on, bumping up the people that ordered earlier. But I suspect the ones that stood in line are the die hard fans, and the least likely to cancel.

All points to a very good ramp up plan, if you ask me. They could stock parts, and help prepare for the mega ramp up late next year. Good news if you ask me.

Makes sense, but highly doubt the M3 would ever see this given it's not even an option on S/X. If Tesla ever does do this, I'd think it would start out on S/X. And I'd also expect to pay dearly for it as an option.

Not to derail this thread, but what paint treatment is the OP referring to? I always take decent care of my car, parked in a garage, and never had any paint issues on my Honda/Acura cars. Is the Tesla paint more fragile that it needs post-factory treatment?

Well the issues is there's like exactly 4 CPOs on the web site. So it's hard to gauge any relevant depreciation trend. I'm also thinking CPOs well for more than private, since Tesla has to make some money on them. I've seen other comments that it seems private sale prices are inflated.
