Car may not restart after software upgrade to 2019.32.12.7

When the battery management system detects a problem in the cooling or heating system for the battery, that is the message it sends out. It gets serious and will shut the car down. I got the same messages when my cooling system (air conditioner compressor) failed on a hot day last summer. The...

Outrageous $5000 repair bill after warranty expire!

I have a 2016 model S. July 4th 2019, same warning exactly in Glenwood Springs CO. Charged in Silverthorne, it was cold in the morning. I Made it 200 miles to Denver after incident happened . Denver was HOT, all kinds of faults came up and car refused to start once I stopped. Towed to Littleton...

    "Air Conditioning Reduced" message

74,000 Miles. MS 90 D 2016 same warning out of Colorado Springs. "car needs Service" Tesla tech helped rebooting both screens. didn't help. Supercharged when cold. Air conditioning did not go on. Got hot, coming into Denver Warnings (5 of them) got dire, "car may not start after stopping."...

Experience at the Dublin CA SC today

The Seaside Service Center treats me exactly the same for the past two years. Some one greets me by name as I get out of the car. Makes for a nice experience.

How dangerous is it to drive with low tread depth to Lake Tahoe?

That is a good call. I love the pilot sports on my model S. Smooth running, great handling!

    Car wash for S

Spudlime advice is good. I have been using "NO RINSE" with the microfiber towels for two years on my MS. I use about a quart of water in a quart spray bottle for the whole car. The first towel wipes off the wet dust carefully, second towel dries the car that you just wiped. No swirls, no...

Waiting a month for a new Windshield??

I just had my windshield replaced yesterday at the Sunnyvale SC. They had it in stock. I made the appointment last week. Seaside also had it in stock. Mine is a AP 1 non heated. There are several different versions of the model S windshield. Maybe some are a bit more rare.

Rattle noise coming from front Air Suspension (2017-18)

This is a feature we have on our 2016 refresh S 90D with air suspension. We live on a private road that has a section,600 feet, of base rock. The clunky, rattle sound is significant. We thought something was wrong with our new car and took it to the service center. They duplicated the sound on...

Can I do a long road trip soon after getting my new car

Go for it. You will have a blast. You usually will never charge to 100%. Charge to 90% or less if your Tesla Nav says good to go. This is the best for relaxing long distance travel and will keep your charging times reasonable. If you are stuck at a restaurant with slow service, use your phone...

Current Owners: If you had to buy again would you still get a Model S over a 3? Why? Confused buyer!

    Tire wear

2016 MS 90D Never rotated, even wear Goodyear 19" Changed out all four at 24500, with more Goodyears. I think I could have gotten 27000, but had a bad puncture(pencil size hole), so changed them out early at my 25000 mile service. Some mountain driving and lots of freeway driving

How do you know what Supercharging speed you will get w/o plugging in?

You can learn a lot on how your BMS in your car works and what it tells the super charger to give you by watching this video on you tube. Each battery pack is different. 90'sare different than 85's which are different from 100's for instance. I learned a lot and made a chart so I can now plot...

Destination Chargers -- what are you guys seeing for payment for use?

Since destination chargers are there to promote business, seldom does the motel charge. You need to stay at the hotel or have a meal if it is a restaurant.

    75D AP2 19'' Tire wear out fast

90D new July16. 19inch. Just passed 25000 miles. Replaced Goodyears with the same new generation Goodyears. Probably could have run another 3 to 4000, but went needed new tire because of a serious puncture.

    Elon says no Central Speedometer

Speedometer directly forward ---- Speedometer to the right --- My previous car a 350 Z had an analog speedometer directly forward and I never used it. What I used and got very used to was the digital speedometer to the right of the steering wheel. It was just fine and I used it a lot. As with...

    New unlimited lifetime supercharger promotion

In my 6000 miles of road trips in my 90D, this year, I have never seen long lines at Superchargers. Even in Barstow, which is an active spot, a car pulls out as I approach and the next Mx waits only 2 or 3 minutes. Same thing happened for me in Moutain View a couple weeks ago. A car pulls out as...

    Dilemma

That P 85 + is a collectors item from what I have read. I drove a p85 as a loaner last week and totally enjoyed the experience. Nice car. My car is a 90D refresh and as I do enjoy auto pilot 1, if I didn't have it, I wouldn't miss it. Because of the software upgrades, most everything was the...

    Air suspension settings

I raise my 2016 90D to very high for the one mile gravel road with speed bumps and pot holes to get home. Very noisy, and "harsh" (to quote a previous statement). It was so noisy, with deep rumble and clunking sound over the gravel at 8-10 MPH I had the service center check it out. What I found...

An Uncertain Future for Electric Cars in America

What might be uncertain is how fast the growth is. Growth however is very certain. Charging at home, and all the other benefits--preaching to the choir on this site.

How is the linked key fob supposed to work?

Tesla does not need too! We call our setting "exit" . It is another personal profile that you build, adjust, according to you're body type. A tall person fore-instance might want a different personal "exit", "park" profile than me.

Elon twits AP1 improvements coming...anyone still trust them?

I too think this is a bit of a goofy post. Tesla is right to put lots of limitations on AP. There are a few risk takers that would like to drive a country road on AP just for kicks. Tesla's are for drivers. Enjoy the drive.

    Unintended Acceleration?

I had an un-intended acceleration event twice. The first time I didn't know why. The second time I realized I had engaged cruise control and it was set to a higher speed. It only happens for a split second as you automatically hit the brake and cruise is disengaged. I'm more careful now!

Is Tesla Model S Heating/Cooling Effective like ICE cars?

I know you are feeling anxious, but this is a bit of a tempest in a tea pot. I have never had inadequate heat. It can blast you away, and even in icy conditions. I like that you can preheat the car so that it is warm before you leave your living room or the local restaurant. No one has...

    90D and a 270 mile leg

Road trips in a model s are meant to fun. I just completed a 3000 trip. I would not recommend your route. Short charge times and more super chargers with lots of reserve make for a nicer trip. I would not consider it fun to drive 60-65 MPH in Texas. Our new 90D charges fast up to 85% so that...

    75D vs 90D

The 90D proved it's worth when on a road trip to Colorado the supercharger in Green River Utah was out of commission and we had just enough battery, by driving slow, to make it to Grand Junction. It is really nice to have the extra range in emergencies.

    Rumble strip sound

Lane departure rumble works. It is exactly what happened while driving yesterday. Some times it went off in inadvertently perhaps because of a crack in the road but other times we tested it, purposely pulled over the line and the lane departure rubble sounded and I could feel it in the wheel. I...
