2018 model x shut down randomly

I experienced a very weird reset on Saturday while driving on an interstate at 70 mph on autopilot. Was listening to a (downloaded) podcast and for about 30 seconds the podcast got very spotty with static and random speakers shut off and then back on. I then lost all control of all non-driving...

Does your X role (fwd or bkwd) when you stop on an incline?

See this thread. It’s annoyed me for years. Creep Mode.. drifting backwards...a third option needed? I wish they would implement the following: When in drive (“D”), if the car shifts from forward movement to slow backward movement, the car should immediately go into hold and alert the driver.

Does anyone hate the battery consumption on the X?

I had an X 75D for two years. Last month I upgraded to an X 100D. My X 75D got about 70% of the rated miles on average. It was quite annoying. Even though it was rated for 237 miles I could not take it from Seattle to Portland without charging at least once (180 miles). So far my X100 D...

Am I screwed for going 75D rather than 100D?

As an almost 2 year model X 75 owner who is about to upgrade to the 100, you are not going to be happy with a 75 for that long of a commute. The model X has a higher coefficient of wind friction than the S. Highway speeds really impact range. If it’s less than 55° out and you’re going 70MPH...

    teslafi battery degredation report

Attached is my report. ~22 months of data for my 75 X. 20k miles. The slope at ~15 months in is consistent with me thinking “oh, this latest update is more aggressive with long term battery protection and that’s why Tesla is decreasing my capacity”. It does also coincide with winter but 1) my...

200A service in my house. Looking for opinions.

Go on Amazon and buy an electrical usage monitor. The ones that poll every second or in “real-time” are the best. In theory, 200 amp service will give up to 48 kW of power at any given time (200*240 or 200*120+200*120). I have a 14-50 for my MX (8.4kw max), an electric drier, a hot tub with a...

New Navigation Coming This Weekend! (circa March 31, 2018)

It sometimes has the lanes. In my picture above it should have had the lanes but didn’t. There were other times that it did. My picture three posts above was taken on a ~1 mile interchange that itself has entrances and exits. That might’ve been why the lanes were not showing up, but every...

New Navigation Coming This Weekend! (circa March 31, 2018)

I got the nav update this morning. I think the new directions display has quite a bit of room for improvement. My route to work is straightforward so I can't speak to any improvements concerning routing. In the attached pic you'll see the Tesla display vs real life. Sorry for the blurriness...

    2018.2 0eddd23 detected

I did nothing to it. Not even a car wash. And we're talking real rain....not mist...enough water on the windshield to not even be considered drops anymore...all just a sheet of water. I've used rain-x before and noticed the difference in rain-sensing wiper behavior. This is different. Only...

    2018.2 0eddd23 detected

I also have an AP1 car (MX). Until very recently, the auto-wiper functionality was fine (not amazing, but above the level of "good enough"). These past two weeks the rain sensing function has been atrocious....well below the performance I've experienced in the past 1+ years of having the car...

    Under-staffed GUI/software staff?

As a Modex X owner I agree the GUI leaves a bit to be desired. Basic things like ordering the presets on the FM radio or automatically switching to streaming from FM when you go “up” past the last channel but going to another source when you go “down” (if I’m on FM I want to stay on FM!). Or...

    Vendor New Cubby Drawer

Got mine yesterday. THANK YOU! Great build quality and fits great. If you look at my past posts I'm not the most optimistic person in the world so consider this a job well done. :) Thanks Norm.

    ST3 vehicle tabs sticker shock

What really pisses me off is the depreciation schedule they use to calculate the ST3 tax. AND the tax is supposed to be based off the MSRP of the car, but when I bought my X I don't think they had an MSRP, so they based it off the actual purchase price which includes options (which is 17% more...

New Equalizer In Version 8.0.2.50.114 - Please Share Settings

While the equalizer settings reset issue seems to be fixed....my Dolby Surround now reverts to unchecked several times per day. This seems to be a new bug. :( Anyone else with premium sound having this problem?

My frunk won't open, actuator broken

I had the exact same issue. Happened after I went to Costco so had to have the SC get my groceries out. :( The earliest appointment they had to fix was two WEEKS out. Got it fixed and works fine now.

    Installed v8.0(2.52.36)

Got it on my AP1 MX. Confirmed .22 puts back the +5 MPH over speed limit. Haven't noticed anything else yet.

Anyone refusing last software update - speed limit restriction?

All who are upset: call Tesla and insist on getting a call back from a regional manager. A phone supervisor and/or anyone at your local service center won't be able to give feedback as directly (in my experience). They need to know your concerns. I use AP to add a layer of safety to my driving...

Anyone refusing last software update - speed limit restriction?

Echo that. If you are unhappy with this update PLEASE call Tesla. I am quite an unhappy customer and have let them know that.

AutoPilot speed restrictions...what do you think

My pessimistic thinking: they purposely put this bug in knowing it would upset customers. They'll fix just this, say they listen to customers, and make it seem like they are meeting us "half way" with the AP limited to speed limits on all undivided roads. :-/
  20. P

Anyone refusing last software update - speed limit restriction?

Good theory. But doesn't make sense given I can still drive on highways well beyond the speed limit with AP on. This seems like an overzealous lawyer's doing....
  21. P

Anyone refusing last software update - speed limit restriction?

Do you own a Tesla? 1) 5mph over the limit is not "speeding" in the vast, vast majority of situations. 2) YES! I paid for functionality demoed to me when I test drove my car. The sales person specifically showed me how great AP was on a normal street. It was/is amazing. 3) As noted in other...

AutoPilot speed restrictions...what do you think

To those being paid by Tesla to trivialize the concerns of some on this thread, or to those who are content with the new AP restrictions, please ignore the following. I purchased my Tesla BECAUSE of its autopilot features. The new restrictions are ridiculous. No one drives exactly the speed...

    Frequent two pedals pressed warning

I've had this happen to me twice since 8.0. Both times were on flat roads after being stopped at a signal. When the signal turned green I tried to go and got the error. I tried to reproduce the situation on an empty street and haven't been able to.

    Autopilot safety statistics

I don't think the purpose of the article is to state the problems with all other metrics. It's to say the comparison by Musk is literally nonsense. He (smartly) stays away from making claims about the safety of autopilot by pointing out that it can not be discerned by using even industry...

    Autopilot safety statistics

Best article I've seen so far re Autopilot safety stats. A lot of people have said what this article states, but this goes further into the numbers. Apologies if it is a duplicate post but I did multiple searches to make sure it isn't. How safe is Tesla Autopilot? A look at the statistics.

The Seattle Area Needs More Superchargers

I can confirm there IS a supercharger in Bellevue. My MX was charged at ~95kwh there. They don't call it a "supercharger" though...not sure why.

Increased Bay Area Front Plate Enforcement

The reason they are cracking down is due to automated capture of license plates on parked cars. When a car is parallel parked too close to the car in back of it the reader has a higher chance of scanning the front plate. Great for legit counter-crime efforts. Great for meter maid efficiency and...

    Always-on Brake hold mode?

By habit I press hold at nearly every stop. Love the feature. However, there have been a few instances (probably my fault) where for whatever reason I either accidentally tapped the brake after being in hold, tapped the gas, or perhaps never confirmed it was in hold in the first place. Have come...

Is it me or is this article as absurd as I think it is?

I disagree! What if you ran out of power 10ft from a supercharger towards the end of the car's lifetime? And then what if your car got dented while being pushed 10ft by a nice person driving a Prius with a solar roof? $1000 plus time! Then you need to deal with the guy at the body shop who just...
  32. P

Is it me or is this article as absurd as I think it is?

Solar efficiency has increased 100,000x in the past decade. A solar roof on a Model S can power the car for half the day. The larger Model X roofs can power the car, your house, and STILL have enough energy left over to power a Mazda 929.

Delivery Appointment Cancelled - Anyone seen this before?

Happened to me the end of last quarter. Exactly the same story and the date line up...just three months earlier. I suspect that right now they are optimizing to deliver as many as possible before quarter end. Somewhere, due to some equation, for some reason you'll never know, there may a person...

    Blackvue wifi and Iphone

There is a better way. Get the "wifi priority" app from the iOS App Store. It creates a profile which allows you to disable autojoin for specific wifi networks. This way my phone autojoins my home network but doesn't join the Blackvue one when I get in the car. If I want to join the Blackvue one...

Hill Control Lies! Rolled back and hit a car :(

I can't be 100% certain I engaged it. I'm in the habit of using hold at most all stops though - I put it in hold unconsciously by applying significant extra pressure to the brake when stopped and also look for the hold icon. That said, it is absolutely possible that I didn't press hard enough...

Hill Control Lies! Rolled back and hit a car :(

Happened yesterday to me too! Car behind me honked so I braked with an inch to spare! I think I've said the following in a thread before but I'll say again: When in drive, there is NEVER a situation when I want the car to move in reverse. A few updates back I think they made it so you need to...

    Finally an App Update...Nevermind!!

Updated the app. When I click on the top left menu and go to notifications it still causes the app to crash. Have had the problem for a month. :( Wish they would put some development effort into this app and increase functionality.

    Active noise reduction

I think most people are unaware of how much the big ICE companies are using active noise cancellation and the piping in of engine sounds in newer model cars. Not even sure this is an advertised feature on many models. Most new cars make it very difficult to install third party head units without...

Pulled over by a cop on Day 1

When I took mine in to get the front windows tinted they measured the rear at 11%. Said that was the darkest they have ever seen. I tinted the fronts at 18% and like how it came out. I've lived in WA state for 10 years and all my cars have had a dark front tint. Never been a problem and I've...

Blind spot assist in Version 8

For blind spot not sure why you need rear radar and extended range...unless you are trying to predict what WILL be in your blindspot. Autopilot Accelerator Suggestion and AEB "Save" (Dashcam Example)

I had an Infiniti Q50 for 3 years. LOVED having the accelerator pedal push back at me when there was something in front. It's the single thing the Tesla doesn't do as well.... Would be great if there was an option to have the Tesla reduce acceleration AND/OR brake well in advance when objects...

Upgrading Autopilot: Seeing the World in Radar

Thanks. So let me state a different way. Are all my statements true? While radar is of course capable of seeing non-moving objects most/all production cars today ignore non-moving objects due to very high noise/false positives. The road sign over the ridge isn't a problem because it is...

Upgrading Autopilot: Seeing the World in Radar

You can turn on/off all the nannies with a single push of a button on the steering wheel. And the stop distance is a setting. I really liked having all the nannies always on. When it's safe it lets you do whatever you want. If there is a potential to merge into a car or hit a car in front of you...

Upgrading Autopilot: Seeing the World in Radar

Is AP 8.0/8.1 actually an "upgrade" from a technology standpoint? Prior to my MX I had an Infiniti Q50. 4 YEARS ago Infiniti was boasting that it had a production car that could detect vehicles 2 cars ahead. Check out this commercial from 2013: 1) The Infiniti has limited internet...

    Cold weather package "retrofit"

Given that Tesla enables/disables multiple features (HA charger, door auto open, autopilot, etc...) via software, I was wondering if the hardware is in place for heated steering wheel and rear seats if the cold weather package isn't ordered. I don't live in a cold climate so didn't order but...

Aftermarket accessories, what would you like?

A frunk organizer made to fix the X perfectly. Ideal would be 3-4 sections for grocery bags. Also wouldn't mind something to help organize the trunk. A well thought out dog blanket/barrier that perhaps takes advantage of a single rear seat folded down (dog on unfolded seat with folded down...

How much battery drain during standby mode?

I get it. I disagree though. Something isn't optimized if it requires "people to leave the car alone." To you, having data about your car doesn't seem to be that important. To me, and what seems like at least some others, it is. Since our values are different we disagree and that is fine...
