High refrigerant temperature reported during and after supercharging

Others have advised you to get some gauges on your refrigerant lines. Which is what you should do. When the evaporator is delivering really cold air it is freezing up which is a sign that you are low on refrigerant. What happens is all the liquid refrigerant boils into gas before exiting the...

unstable supercharge performance - thermal issue ?

If the interpretation of error messages is somewhat correct, it's likely you have a low charge in the AC system. If the suction side of the system triggers a low-pressure alert, that's low refrigerant. Have you had the AC system opened in previous maintenance to replace the desiccant bag? Maybe...

    SiriusXM Volume Scratchy

Well, still seems to be a cr*p shoot if the static is fixed. For me, many days now with 2023.6.8 and I can no longer reproduce the scratchy effect. EQ, volume (rapid or slow), XM or FM, all are working as they should.

    SiriusXM Volume Scratchy

Not EU, but NA... I just updated to 2023.6.8 and can report that the issue with SiriusXM and FM radio appears to be fixed. I tried multiple volume changes both slow and quick as well as equalizer changes for both sources. I did notice a click when moving an equalizer slider but not after leaving...

    Total Spent $130

The Total Spent is just a calculation based on cost per kWh for your non-SuC charging. Check what you have Work, Home, and Other cost per kWH set to in the app. No money flows to Tesla for these "costs".

Update removed Sirius/XM selection from infotainment screen

Maybe the simple solution... There is now a "sources" menu in the settings for audio where one can turn off things like the phone, USB, etc. perhaps the XM radio slider is off? Same place that you set the balance. This menu seems to have changed a lot lately.

So far so good MCU2 upgrade

Also just had this done at our new service center in Boise. Got an M3 for a loaner. Dropped off at 8:30 AM was done at 2 PM. I also got HW3 installed so now have visualizations on the IC. The "blue" of the car is a different blue than it was since the IC was also replaced. $2500 + tax for me...

12v battery died while main battery was fully charged and car plugged in to charger

There are actually two ways a Model S (at least the 100 kWh ones) keeps the 12v battery charged. The one everyone knows about is the "close the contacts", get the big DC-DC converter spun up, and dump whatever 12v is needed for running the car electronics and charging the 12v battery. The other...

    AC charging issue since 2020.44

How about cleaning the signal pins (control and proximity) on either side of the ground pin on the car? I assume that you can see the IC light up as the scenario plays out? Does the car ever report an actual charge rate right after the HPWC relay engages? Still have a UMC? Same result? The...

    Got any TPMS tricks?

Looking at the listing it would appear that these are generic TPMS that are unprogrammed. That means you have to find a tire shop that has a programmer and would be willing to program them. Or they were programmed by the vendor (it's not clear from the listing) and it didn't "take" so needs to...

Supercharging expectation - 3 year old car - share your experience please

I don't think your survey is gonna do much here. Even though you want the rate at 50% SOC it will still depend on ambient and battery temperature so those have to be included as well. Then there's the numerous issues with SuC stalls. Some just never get above 50kW. Some reduce rates when cables...

Unable to charge..disconnect cable and retry...then goes away

This can be caused by a delay in the EVSE coming on-line when plugged into the car. The car expects it faster than it happens. Listen for the relay in the EVSE to close quickly or not. Isn't that the ethernet port? CAN bus shows up on the other connector hidden between the cubby and the MCU. Looks like you are early enough to not have a cubby though. When the remote service guys work on my car they always connect to this (the ethernet) port to do their work.

    How pairing at Supercharging works

Depending on ambient temperature another way is to listen to the car's front fans. Those taking a big charge will have those jet engine sounds going. Avoid the pair for that stall. And another way is to feel the cable temperature of the charging cars. If it's hot also avoid the paired stall...

    Minimum load rating for MS

The numbers are the total max loads on each axle. GAWR stands for gross axle weight rating. It includes the car + occupants + cargo. The 901 lbs that are on the other label there are for the occupants and cargo. Anything over 901 lbs + the car means it is overloaded and the weight will exceed...

    Minimum load rating for MS

For the square 19" setup, the load rating is 98. The placard on the driver's door jam shows the GAWR RR as 3307 lbs. This is exactly the 98 load rating. For the front the GAWR FRT is 2866 lbs which is exactly a load rating of 93. So 95 on the front and 102 on the rear would be acceptable...

Faulty HPWC or Breaker too Big?

So analogy... You plug your phone charger (uses less than 1/4 amp) into an outlet in your house than can supply 15 amps. Nothing interesting happens. The charger draws 1/4 amp. It's the same thing for your car. Your car is drawing 48 A. Doesn't matter if the HPWC could supply 80 (which is...

Using dryer outlet to power outdoor EVSE?

Yeah, my OpenEVSE allows me to pick any output value I want. So I could do as you say and cause an issue. One has to match the power available in the branch circuit with the output value. That's an interesting section. I wonder how multiple HPWC sharing a circuit are OK then? Probably because...

Using dryer outlet to power outdoor EVSE?

Well... this is a common misunderstanding. The 2020 Edition of NFPA 70 (the National Electrical Code Book) in its branch section, 210 specifically talks about branch circuits under 277 V with 120V to neutral as just fine to have multiple outlets. Branch circuits up to 50 amps are permissible...

Using dryer outlet to power outdoor EVSE?

There are cases where an EVSE is programmable, like mine and can be set to whatever delivery current one wishes. That was the only caution stated. The case where the EVSE does this derating is in the use of the UMC and its corresponding plug. The car doesn't do this. The UMC presents the max...

Using dryer outlet to power outdoor EVSE?

Unless you really really need the capability of the dryer buddy to auto switch the loads you can just daisy chain another 240V outlet from the existing dryer outlet to wherever you need it to go for your EVSE. If it is a 30A outlet, then that's just 10 gauge Romex (check your local codes) to...

A/C Went Out, how to diagnose?

Good stuff. So since you have a gauge you can now measure the low side pressure to assure yourself that your refrigerant amount is close to being correct. Hopefully, you didn't bleed off any. Pressures should cycle with the compressor and also vary with ambient. For 75 ambient you should see...

100D wants to charge at 72 Amps which trips Tesla home charger

OK. Understand you have a wall connector. The term "UMC" is reserved for the mobile connector. So terms are confused. If the wall connector goes red (solid, not flashing) then it is claiming a hardware fault. Your plan to swap out the original with your new one is a good call. But just to be...

100D wants to charge at 72 Amps which trips Tesla home charger

Let's start over... You call it a home charger but answered that you have a Gen1 UMC. Toying with hooking up a signature unit implies you have a...

A/C Went Out, how to diagnose?

Ok, hold on a bit here. To test the pressures in an A/C system you have to have the compressor running. Was that the case? If you just connect to the low side port you will measure the vapor pressure of the gas at ambient temperature. In your case 60 psi of R134a is about 64 degrees F. What was...

I think there is a sensitivity between cars and USB sticks. You just have to find one that works. For me, the UltraFit USB 3.0 stick works while a Samsung 3.1 does not.
