    2021.24.28 Rolling out to MCU1/FSD MS/X

OK, I am surprised. Weirdly, this procedure seems to have worked. It did take about 20 minutes for the process and the car rebooted at least 7 times in the process (I lost count), but it does seem to have solved the problem--at least as of yesterday. I haven't driven yet today so can't be sure...

    2021.24.28 Rolling out to MCU1/FSD MS/X

Sounds odd, but then again, this is a Tesla after all. I'll give it a shot.

    2021.24.28 Rolling out to MCU1/FSD MS/X

Updated to 2021.24.28 on WED 16 FEB. Since that "update", my NAV no longer functions. Any request for Navigation results in a spinning icon and "still calculating" until it times out after 2 minutes. I have tried SWB resets without impact. 2016+ with MCU 1 and recent (SEP 2021) eMMC update...

    Poor Audiobook Support, Why?

Because Tesla doesn't actually care about anything that their customers might want. They've got your money and they don't care what you might want. This will ultimately prove unfortunate for the company but I suspect will take some time, and especially some competition. They'd rather wax poetic...

    Experience with 2020.48.37.6

Porsche doesn't "update" the software. They only allow you to purchase "options"; and the function itself is optional (and requires a subscription). Porsche isn't going to reach into my car and f*ck it up as Tesla does on a routine basis. Also, if something does require service, Porsche has a...

    Experience with 2020.48.37.6

So all of a sudden my 2016 S75 lost it's XM controls, too. Just vanished. No reboot, no changes. Worked yesterday, gone today. I have just about had enough of this BS... Shoulda bought a Panamera (or now a Taycan...).

    Surprisingly pleasant Tesla service visit

Excellent report. Maybe things are looking up... One can hope! I actually had a pretty good remote service experience whilst having issues with my MCU about 2 weeks ago. It required numerous texts, but all of the issues were addressed, and there was good response and good follow-through on issues.

    Manual Tuning of Sirius XM

That's all OK, I'd just like it to retain my radio subscription. I bought my S in DEC 2016, and set up the radio on my subscription (which I had already had for many years) before I left the Delivery Center. I think I might have needed ONE refresh between that time and the most recent Update (I...

    Excellent Tesla Service experience

Just wanted to post a message relating my recent experience with getting the dread "Yellow Border" repair (along with some tire work) done at the Bellevue Service Center. Scheduling this has been a multi-month project, with several cancellations and much frustration on my part. However, the...

SpaceX F9 - Comm Crew In Flight Abort - LC-39A

Agree completely. They (NASA) will want a very thorough review of all the data before they say anything more than "great shot". But wow, what a shot. Looked absolutely nominal all the way without any obvious anomalies. I still think that this test, more than almost anything else, demonstrates...

Given lackluster service would you still buy a Tesla?

Here's my take: The car is generally a very good piece of machinery--definitely one of the most fun-to-drive vehicles out there, and logical, efficient, and as ecologically clean as it is possible to be at present. I have had my S75 since the end of 2016, and am coming up on 50K miles. I have...

    Some Colorful Suggestions

Now that you mention it, I think I remember that color. You know, we're everywhere. I see lots of horns on cars up here in Seattle, too. Maybe it's a conspiracy... ;-)

    Some Colorful Suggestions

That would be very nice, completely unique and would, I suspect have a wider acceptance than most people would believe. There are a lot of us who subtly bleed orange ;-)

    Some Colorful Suggestions

I would! I've been more than half tempted to wrap my S in just that color. It's gorgeous! Seriously, Tesla needs some more and better colors. A good green would be nice, too.

    Green color Model S

I love the green. If it had been available when I bought mine (it wasn't), Andromeda would have been green. I had a sacrab green SAAB for many years, and I loved that color. Besides, they are ALL green on the inside... ;-)

Would you buy a Model Y if it was only built in China?

    Rain Sensing Wipers - Hooray!

I'm with you here. Finally we have rain sensing wipers which work reasonably well. In fact, for a Tesla "Beta", these are really pretty good. They are not quite a sensitive as I would choose myself, but they are reasonably close. I have had them work at night, and they appear to work identically...

S60 came back as S70 after service

That's interesting. Last Spring my (then new) 60 had to have its MCU replaced (long story), and came back as a 70. About 2 hours after I posted that fact here, Tesla remotely turned it back into a 60. It is interesting how much discretion the Service Centers have as to how to handle these types...

    New Supercharger Fair Use Policy

You mean that someone else can't take Rommie in and get her neutered? (My car is named "Andromeda Ascendant"...) But I can? Wow, this is taking the whole anthropomophization thing to a whole new level. I liked giving my car a name... I'm not sure I think of it as a pet, and I am SURE it doesn't...

Seeking driver from CA to TX

Do it! The car is a hoot to drive, and you'll get very used to all the new EV stuff along the way. A Better Routeplanner is, no pun intended, a better route planner that EV trip planner. Just don't try to use it on the MCU (the big screen in the middle of the car) as the browser is, well, not...

Let me describe our delivery . . . seems common these days

Gorgeous car. Your wife has EXCELLENT taste. I agree that the main learning point for Tesla right now is that Customer Service is the most important thing. When as customer feels like they have been treated like royalty (or at least a VIP of some sort) that goes a LONG way to overcoming issues...

    Slacker streaming jumping issues

More likely it is that they are so monomaniacly focused on AP and FSD that they are forgetting that we actually have to drive (or at least ride in...;-) the car while they perfect that function.

    Slacker streaming jumping issues

I have been having the exact same issues since .32 at least. Currently on .42 and if anything it is getting worse, not better. This is the biggest issue I have with Tesla. When I bought the car in DEC 2016, the autopilot was completely non-functional (it didn't even have meaningful cruise...

Garage Door Opener Possibly sending Double Signal

My Homelink behaves precisely the same way, and has since 17.32. At present, it is about 40% reliable in opening the garage door when I arrive from elsewhere, and maybe 5% at closing it when I leave. There seems to be some kind of link between the driver profile and the likelihood of it closing...

Garage Door Opener Possibly sending Double Signal

How are you actuating it? I mean, are you manually pushing the Homelink button or are you letting it auto close or open based on proximity settings? If the latter, I suspect you are seeing a Firmware issue. There are several threads on this issue, but the short version is that Homelink, and...

Homelink auto close reliable for you?

Homelink worked very well for me from when I purchased the car (DEC 2016) until FW 2017.34, at which point its operation became intermittent. This behavior has continued with 2017.40.1. At this point the system is fairly reliable (about 90%) at opening the garage when I approach from having been...

    Want to return new Tesla

Depending on where you are, Enterprise may rent you a Tesla. I don't know what their qualifications are, and they only asked me if I was over 25 (I'm 55, so it never came up again). This is what I did when I was thinking about buying my MS. Actually, it was the best thing possible. I only had...

Tesla - where are my (HW2) auto rain sensing wipers?

This feature worked on the 2005 Mercedes C230K I sold when I bought my MS. It even worked pretty well (except that in really hot weather it would sometimes confuse dust for rain, but that's a different issue...). My 1997 SAAB had this also, although it was a bit more touchy. There are so many...

    New 2017 S75d Owner

[POLL] 60 kWh owners : Do you wish you had purchased more range?

Interesting. I have a 60 and live in Tacoma. I frequently ski at Crystal in the Winter (140 miles, round trip), and have routine commutes up to 90 miles in a day, and I have never had any serious issue with range (OK, I really sweated the first trip to the mountain to ski, since there is no real...

    Summons Stops

I'm still on 17.11.45 and mine does the same thing (although in my experience it varies from 1/3 to 3/4 of the way out when it stops...). It also sometimes stops while moving into the garage, which seems worse if it isn't started EXACTLY straight on to the door frame. Other than the alignment on...

I need reassurance I am making the right decision on a Model S

Since DEC I have had no service issues that were not covered under warranty. I do have a Service plan, so I am budgeting exactly $500 per year for "routine" maintenance.

I need reassurance I am making the right decision on a Model S

I bought a Model S 60 in DEC 2016 which very similar thoughts. I tend to keep my cars for a long time (1997 SAAB until 2005/190K miles; 2005 Mercedes until 2016/180K miles), and plan to keep the S until it dies, I die or I just HAVE to have something else. My car has had some issues (we have...
