Putting Model S 19" Slipstreams on my Model X Performance.

Wow, this is EXACTLY what I wanted to know. So both front and rear wheels are the R19 Slipstreams from the Model S? You use a 6mm spacer on all 4 or just the rear? Considering the wheels are supposed to be wider at the back than the front, wouldnt you need wider spacers for the rear? How do...

Putting Model S 19" Slipstreams on my Model X Performance.

Model X weights 250KG more than a Model S. I can't possibly imagine that the extra 62.KG loading per wheel makes any actual difference. After all, you load up the car with passengers and cargo and you can easily add ~500KG of weight. Maybe it has something to do with towing?

Putting Model S 19" Slipstreams on my Model X Performance.

Hello all. I've got a 2019 Model X Performance, and I keep having problems with my stock 20" Slipstream wheels. 1.) They keep getting warped, I suspect due to the poor roads (potholes and the like) 2.) They're easy to curb 3.) The tires are noisy. etc. etc. I was thinking to go down to 19"...

Nope. Even if you could download it, they require logins to function properly. Unless you know how to crack it so it functions without logging into Tesla's servers that is.

    I retrofit MCU2, IC2, Tuner2, and FSD Computer into my HW2.0 Car

In MCU1, accessing the gateway was as simple as getting into factory mode. Once you're in factory mode, diagnostic port opened and BAM, you're in. Can reach the GW. Pretty sure the new RJ45 port is where you need to tap into, but it remains closed. But getting into factory mode is as far as...

    I retrofit MCU2, IC2, Tuner2, and FSD Computer into my HW2.0 Car

Are these tricks a secret? I know MCU1 tricks are not exactly well known, but those I know. Is it similar?

    I retrofit MCU2, IC2, Tuner2, and FSD Computer into my HW2.0 Car

@kdday, Excellent write up! I'm fairly familiar with MCU1, but I've indeed found it difficult to get anything done on MCU2. Is root required to update the GW? Since you rooted your car using some SW vulnerability, which version of the OS were you running? I need to perform some GW config...

Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

Hmm... I'll give it a go but if it doesn't work I'm going to be back here to you know about it! I have read it. Perhaps you underestimate my ignorance in this area! Do not underestimate the ignorance of people. Most people don't know jack *sugar*. I don't need the keys. The keys are for another...

Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

I have the orientation correct. I have working eMMCs from which I can reference Contacts with the pads seem fine. I have not re balled, but it was not required on any of the working chips. Are you suggesting that without reballing, the contacts may not actually be good? I'm not familiar with...

I have read your articles multiple times, trying to find some inspiration. Admittedly I didn't read every single article because not all seem applicable to what I'm trying to achieve. Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

Where on the board? Please don't say the eMMC because that's already been removed. And I've taken it to a few mobile phone repair shops, and none have been able to read it or pull any data off it (yet). Since I don't want to spent thousands on data recover for a car that is salvaged and...

Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

That's not really an option. There are dozens of versions, and unsoldering and resoldering the eMMC to the board every single time it fails is hardly an option. I know the car the board was pulled from was from a salvage car that crashed in August 2019, so I suppose it narrows down the options...

Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

You can definitely move the CID from 1 MCU to another. I did just that in order to repair a broken MCU quickly. Apparently there is the version data stored in the GW and IC, but I didnt know it was important and didnt save that info before swapping tegraboarda and performing a software update...

Successful data recovery of broken eMMC chip MCU1

I've got a Tegra board with a dead eMMC (already pulled). I used another board that works to replace this one to fix the MCU, which worked great other than the lack of correct keys! I didn't know that the firmware version was important to know before hand. Now i have Tegraboard with no eMMC...

    Selling 2014 Model S 85 in UK

In case anyone is interested what the damage was prior to the repair, it was basically all body. Here's what was done: All that was needed was to replace the all the panels on the left (passenger), and respray to color match. Mechanically there was no real problem. We realigned the suspension...

    2012 Tesla Model S P85 Signature

Quite confident that one of these days, this will be a classic car, and the Signature edition with an early VIN may be more of a collectible than a slightly later one that looks nearly identical. Of course, thats just speculation, but it makes sense as the 'sig' editions will be rarer. $40k...

    Selling 2014 Model S 85 in UK

Model 3 in the UK? They arnt being sold in the UK yet and even the LHD ones in the EU start at ~50k new. I think maybe model 3 will come out in UK in Q3, but even then it will be the higher end models first. Unlikely the 35k model will come out this year. I drove the M3 in the US in Miami...

Super Charger Adapter for US cars in Europe

You cannot buy these, and it would probably be highly unsafe to use one. Even if it could work safely, it would probably be much slower as I suspect the current would drop down to a point where the cables would not heat up too much. I do not know this for a fact, but I suspect that the plug is...

Super Charger Adapter for US cars in Europe

Tesla will do it for you for an extortionate fee. They don't want you to convert your 'out of region' cars. They normally suggest you send your car back to region, sell it, and buy another one. But the US and EU cars are near identical, so changing the parts around is not difficult at all. But...

I had a similar sort of experience. Was driving down a highway with cruise-control engaged. The road is mostly flat but there some slight elevations in certain areas. I rarely use the cruise control as I like to 'hypermile', which doesnt work well with the cruise control. Any way, this one...

    Why I Won't Be Purchasing My 3rd Model S

Though I understand the desire for a better, and more up market interior fit and finish, I absolutely would not trade in my Tesla for any petrol car (money aside). Renting a Tesla, Miami to Orlando

A bit expensive but might be worth while. I only need it to for a few hours. To get to Orlando from Miami. So its 230 miles or so. Pick up and drop off on the same day. I figure an ICE would probably cost me about $100 or so, including petrol. I don't mind paying extra for an EV, and...

Super Charger Adapter for US cars in Europe

Adapters are apparently not a good idea. The one in the photo was a DIY, but I have spoken to a few guys about this and apparently there are some issues around getting the current required onto pins. The Menekes has 5 pins, whereas the Tesla proprietary is only 3. For super charging in EU, 2...

    Battery Voltage difference between models

This is interesting. Presumably then you could replace the 60kwh battery pack with a 70kwh battery pack and you don't even need to update the Tesla's computer. If the voltages are the same, it should just charge and discharge normally, but it will just have more power right? So will the BMU...

    Battery Voltage difference between models

I have a 2014 S 60 with 50kwh (estimated) usable capacity. Probably one or 2 of my modules has a dodgy cell in it, but even if that is the case, original capacity is only 58KWH usable? Not very much. Does the voltage of each pack differ depending on capacity? As far as I know, each module is...

An explanation to supercharging advantage for batteries.

Interesting. So how about charging at 29 amps (as I do)? Does this mean that charging at lower currents may be better because the battery won't heat up as much? I also live in a cold country, does it mean that my battery would likley last longer as when I charge in sub-zero temperatures, the...

    How much degradation?

Last year, I distinctly remember driving at least 5, and probably 10km below 0 as on the way to the charger. I didn't even notice a power restriction after hitting 0. My car is a 2014 model and it has a very old software version. For some reason, since leaving the US, the software hasn't...

    How much degradation?

Well today I had to make a little trip to my office about 100KM from my house, so I decided to do a range charge on the car. Set the charge to 100% and when it hit 100% it said it was still charging for a good hour or so. Switching to distance rather than charge, the rated range at 100% was...

    How much degradation?

I've read that the 2014 S 60 is apparently the worst when it comes to degradation. I suppose it's possible the previous owner could have charged it to 100% excessively. But as far as I know, Supercharging is not even included in my car. By the time I got my car, it was a little over 2 years...
  45. R

    How much degradation?

I guess I will have to do some longer trips to get more accurate readings. Going from 90% - 40% and then back to 90% and back to 50% I suspect leaves a wide margin for error. Last summer I used to do these drives of about 220KM. I would typically charge to 90% (about 250KM rated range) and I...
  46. R

    How much degradation?

Well that's a little difficult to know for sure since I did not get the car new, so I do not know how many miles/KM was available when it was NEW. Looking online, looks like about 208 miles for 100% and 187 for 90%. Mine is getting roughly 171 miles for 100% and 153 miles at 90% (I'm...
  47. R

    How much degradation?

So I roughly worked out that I had about 50KWH of usable capacity on my 2014 S 60. And by that I mean, when the car reports 100% full all the way down to 0%, but not including the buffer. And I think it's pretty normal for people to be able to drive quite a few KM below the 0% mark. So the 50KWH...

    Changing Battery in Model S

It's a fair point. My current car is NOT a salvage car, and everything is all good with Tesla if I needed to get some work done officially. I've only had some minor body work done outside of official Tesla approved body shops. Still... my battery is a real problem for me for long distance...

I know what you mean. I'm in the UK visiting family now. Currently driving an Audi A8 while I'm here. Damaged Tesla in U.K will not charge...help

Indeed! Though looking at that front end damage, looks like the chassis is pretty damaged, and I wouldn't want to be driving that at all. 25K GBP is a lot of money for such damage (I don't think it is repairable to a degree that would actually make it properly road worthy). That being said...
