    Regenerative Braking and Battery Health

TLDR / BLUF: If frequent Supercharging (120KW) is hard on a battery, would 60KW of regenerative braking for any duration of time also be just as difficult? I'm not an expert on AC Induction motors, but I'm making the assumption that the motor controller is taking multi-phase AC and turning it...

    Seat moving on its own

I've been pinned against the steering wheel a few times thanks to this glitch. I just wait until it gets to the stops and then begin to move it back. I disabled easy entry and went without driver profiles for a while to avoid eating the Tesla logo again. As soon as I pressed the brake pedal...

Tesla Rip Off- Full Self Driving

I thought I had read somewhere that Tesla had sold some or most of their leases in order to raise capital in the short term. If Tesla no longer own the leases, will that affect owners seeking financial compensation for any of the aforementioned reasons? Would this be similar to the housing...

Long Road Trip: Bluetooth Audio Lag

I feel like it is a Tesla thing. Most cars have an aux in of some type, but for some reason they omitted it. I'm aware of the technical limitations of bluetooth, but I'm just wondering why Tesla didn't account for that by supplying another means of attaching audio sources other than bluetooth...

Long Road Trip: Bluetooth Audio Lag

BLUF: Movies playing on a bluetooth-connected Samsung tablet have ~.75s audio lag on YouTube, Google Play Movies, and Netflix. Without an 'aux in' 3.5mm port, is there a good way to stream content from these apps without suffering from audio sync issues? A lot of reading on the Internet...

    Reduced braking after car wash

I just wanted to contribute by saying that I've definitely experienced the reduced braking after washing my car. There is a hill at the entrance / exit to my local DIY carwash place and I've nearly rolled right into the street below on a few occasions while stopping. Perhaps it's residual soap...

Lane Departure Warning... the loud one (S75D).

All, I'm experiencing an odd situation where I'm getting an audible and visual alert (on the binnacle display) while changing lanes. It happens often enough that I've had a chance to look at the visual bright red pop-up and it says something about a "Lane Departure Warning". This is a very...

Have you been uncorked? Post your impressions!

I went ahead and replaced the factory D with the red one my friend purchased as a prank. It looks hilarious now! I any of you see me in the Baltimore / DC area, give me a wave or something... especially now that I'm "that guy" with the faux badges for a model that doesn't exist! -DJ

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

With "Dashboard for Tesla" showing the battery discharging at 330 kW for my car, I don't think I can claim that higher horsepower rating from Wikipedia (386kW/518HP). Maybe the newer 75Ds produce that with their newer drive units?

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Correct! My battery was at around 60% and I got a 4.6s 0-100km run. I'll swap units to MPH later on and do a legit 0-60, but the car raced to 330 KW and held it until I released the accelerator.

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Final Update: I got called up to the service counter at about 12:30 ET and told that the car had been updated with the higher performance. They had me sign the work order and I was on my way. The folks at Rockville at top-notch. 10/10, would visit again. The new high-end for output is at...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Update: My car wasn't taking the update over the air at the service center. It appears that it was driven into the service bay and was updated manually. I received a notification from the Tesla app that a software update had been completed, but as others have described, the version did not...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

A small unofficial update: No word on EU cars. Right now only 75Ds are approved due to sheer volume of cars this impacts. This could be part of a phased rollout of upgrades, as it is a measurable burden on service centers. Don't abandon hope yet. -DJ Thanks to JD Taylor (tesla and spacex...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Called and made my appointment for tomorrow at 10:00 ET in Rockville. It took a few moments for them to verify my previously ineligible car was authorized to get the enhancement. VIN: 196XXX, April order, May delivery (2017). And of course, the person who referred me (and used to have a...

Accident: Not sure I will see her again :-(

Thanks for the info. It's not that I would want to hide something, just that I wouldn't want to file a claim with my own insurance if I could just as easily file against the other driver's insurance provider. If my own (USAA) were to offer to handle everything without me filing a claim (and...

Accident: Not sure I will see her again :-(

I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the ins and outs of automotive insurance. Is there a difference between filing a claim (and paying your deductible) with your own insurance company and contacting them to have them handle the issue? It sounds like it may be a bad idea after reading your post, but I...

    0 to 60 uncork

I think that's a good idea. There's likely a fair number of owners that are hearing about this, so I'd expect that Telsa is working to come up with some kind of solution... even if that solution means a 'no' for some or all of us with Pre-July delivery dates. Your 'patience' approach is likely...

    0 to 60 uncork

I wish I had a little more info for you, but I've not been keeping track of the Model X performance increases. Like some of the others have said, your delivery date is much earlier than what Tesla Corporate (as of a week or two ago) had set as the cut-off for the increase, hence the flood of...

Does your Tesla try to take every exit on the Interstate?

Interesting. I have found it to perform the same, regardless of using navigation. It's almost like the lane keeping is completely separate from the turn-by-turn navigation. There was a recent podcast where one of the hosts goes into detail about HD maps and autopilot, and explains what I'm...

Does your Tesla try to take every exit on the Interstate?

This happens on 99% of all exits for me in the Annapolis/Baltimore/DC area. There is only one I can think of, on MD100 near Arundel Mills Blvd where it tracks straight. I warn my wife any time we approach an exit and I have AP on. Just today I said "An exit is coming up, let's see if it...

And so it begins: My S75's repair journey...

My car was repaired recently by that same shop. They repaired rock impacts and I'd rate their work a 7/10. My dash cams were left running while the car was in their possession and they didn't seem to abuse my car in any way, which made me feel much better about their shop. Trust of a shop is...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

You could call the phone number to Tesla directly and ask. If I had to guess at their response, they would tell you that because it was delivered before 1 July 2017, it would not be eligible. However, should they decide to waive that in your situation, I recommend following any disclosure...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Not exactly what you are asking for, but my corked S75D maxes out at 274-275 kW while accelerating. This was tested using the "Dashboard for Tesla" android application.

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Everything I've seen is hinging on 1 July 2017. Regardless of the manufacture date, if the car was delivered on or after 1 July, you are likely eligible for the performance upgrade. If your car was delivered on 30 June or earlier, it is currently not an option. This was the last word that I...

    Inventory 75 and 75D now show 0-60mph 5.4s

This does appear to be an administrative change only. I can't imagine that anything 'technical' happened to speed up or slow down the entire fleet of 75's, so this may be as 'Itsnotaboutthemoney' says and is primarily a business move. Perhaps there's a small chance that fleet data could show...

What's the record for longest service/loaner period?

I've had a loaner for 19 days when my car was at the service center. During that time I was driving a Mercedes Benz CLA250 from Hertz. So you've got me beat by more than a week! I wonder if there are folks that have had loaners for months on end?

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

    Tesla Navigation is Terrible.

After dealing with the same issue as OP, I started using a combination of Tesla Navigation (to keep track of energy consumption during road trips) and Waze. Because Waze also alerts me to speed cameras, police, and hazards, I rely on it for route information.

    Tesla moments

Since taking delivery in May, I've had a few common things, and a few unique events: At an intersection, a woman in a van rolled down her window and the rear window so she and her son could say something to me. I rolled my window down and she shouted "What a beautiful Tesla! I love the...
