Cete Automotive Active Suspension Control for Model S (smart air suspension)

Done! I installed an air manifold and set up my 3rd Homelink button to lower the car with a 25 second relay timer. 25 secs seems to be enough time to dump enough air to slam the rear which takes longer... since it's seemingly lighter than the front. In the future I may install a couple of...

Cete Automotive Active Suspension Control for Model S (smart air suspension)

Hi, Vegar. Quick update... I finally figured out the timer potion of my upcoming Dump Project. I plan to use one of my Homelink switches to trip a timed relay that will hold the valve open for X number of seconds. (I'm using the Drok 12V Timer Delay Relay which can be programmed for 0.01 to...

Cete Automotive Active Suspension Control for Model S (smart air suspension)

Also, Vegar. I hope you realize that what you have with your Dropbox should be a basic 433mHz remote. You can program the Homelink in your car to operate it. (I just verified that with one of my old remote systems.) But things won't work the way you want "yet", because Homelink is just a...

Cete Automotive Active Suspension Control for Model S (smart air suspension)

That's what I thought. I'm going to mess around with the system a bit in the next few weeks and will probably add an additional tank and compressor to help the stock one out. I'm sure the stock compressor wasn't meant for this duty cycle and I have better stuff lying around. We'll see how it...

Cete Automotive Active Suspension Control for Model S (smart air suspension)

I'm curious, Vegar. How long does it take your compressor to refill your air tank after a few drops? Or does it need to refill after each drop?

Cete Automotive Active Suspension Control for Model S (smart air suspension)

It seems like a pretty simple setup. With the cost being a third of the Cete system I figured I'd give the Cete setup a shot for the additional functionality. I'll probably end up building a "drop box" instead though since I have a couple of valve manifolds lying around. And I have a wifi...

I hear you... although, I've been able to get several parts from BearBu since I've ordered my setup a few years ago.

360 surround view + HDMI kit testing

From my experience most manufacturers will not install custom aftermarket accessories... especially one that "tricks" the car's camera system (safety) into showing you views from aftermarket cameras. But who knows, maybe someone has a "cool" friend at the service center.

Case Study: Deer Strike in a MYP

That sucks. Sorry to hear. I hit one in my Model S a couple of years ago. Wasn't going as fast fortunately but still hood, bumper and headlight replacements. But the absolutely worst part is having to hear, "It's a Tesla, are you telling me your car didn't see it, what's the point, Ha, ha...

360 surround view + HDMI kit testing

I've had my 360View with HDMI in my '15 S85D for over 3 years now. Needed to replace the front cam in '20 and a mirror cam last year. Try contacting DTP International directly for kits or parts. I'm not sure of the best way to contact them (the last time I was able to contact them through...

    Parking Brake Phenomenon

My update is in post #11 (Parking Brake Phenomenon) above. No, I didn't get the brakes from Tesla or Brembo. It's just a car, and similar to the rest of my cars, I ordered used parking brakes from eBay. The caliper and pads were good on mine as well. The electronic actuators had stopped...

The Unofficial Aftermarket Air Suspension Thread

Personally, I gave up and just put in a switch to control the 'rise on start'. Sucks that our cars never really 'start'... or actually, never really 'stop'. :)

The Unofficial Aftermarket Air Suspension Thread

As seen on the first page of this thread, I have a dedicated battery in the footwell. I use the Tesla 12V battery to run an inverter for a charger used to keep the dedicated battery topped off. Everything I've installed on the car runs off the dedicated battery in the footwell... almost...

Anyone retrofitted air suspension? Or done a custom airbag setup?

My car did not come with air ride so I have no factory air ride experience. But I have about 30 years of custom hydraulics/air ride experience. :) When I first installed air on my Model S I bought a salvage set of air struts because no one was making aftermarket air ride struts for the Tesla...

I have to ask now. Where did you get better ones? Bellows or sleeve? Size, etc. Because I have to say, the Airtekk ones ride like hell even with 3-gal ping tanks attached to each rear strut.

    Parking Brake Phenomenon

Nah, the wait wasn't too bad. the car became undrivable on Thurs and was fixed Mon eve. Not too shabby. And this thing was out of warranty less than 15 months after I got it. :) I noticed the editing rule after I posted the update. I noticed the 'Edit' selection after I posted it then...

**** UPDATE **** (I didn't know if the update should be posted here in the thread or if I should have edited the original message... but since I don't know how to edit the original, here it is.) Okay, all is well now. Both parking brakes were delivered today and I've installed both. As soon as...

    Parking Brake Phenomenon

Like I noted, my guess is that it actually IS in the software and is possibly written that way for safety reason. If bot parking breaks malfunction I assume it's better to (besides the fault messages) alert the driver that his car will roll by only allowing it to shift to Neutral. That's a...

I tried that last Thurs. I also tried to let it roll then open the door... nothing. :)

    Parking Brake Phenomenon

Short story: It appears that if both parking brakes decide to stop working while you're driving, when you get to your destination the car will only shift into Neutral and will not shift into Park. Hopefully, I get to verify this theory later today. FYI: 2015 Model S85D, ~120K miles Longer...

Anyone retrofitted air suspension? Or done a custom airbag setup?

Any luck with getting your struts installed yet? I just spoke with someone from AirTekk who stated that we should just play around with different heights for the struts to try to dampen the ride. He stated that a couple of his Model S customers have found luck with raising the height of the...

Anyone retrofitted air suspension? Or done a custom airbag setup?

That would be up to you. Our cars are heavy as hell be we all love them low, so air ride or not it's going to have a stiffer ride. You 'can' soften your ride with an air setup but it would take the right height (typically higher), the right air bags (more than likely sleeves) and the right...

Anyone retrofitted air suspension? Or done a custom airbag setup?

I now have a chin spoiler that sits a half-inch off the ground so I know what you mean. The AirTekk struts probably give you a couple of inches above factory. Of course, that really depends on where you set your bottomed out height.
  33. tsmithlxix

Anyone retrofitted air suspension? Or done a custom airbag setup?

I wouldn't worry about linkage length. I think mine in the rear are in the 4"-6" range and my fronts are around 8". They're the longest links I've ever had to use but I've never had a problem with them. Yeah, it was pretty bone-jarring when I first installed them. Like I said, I think the...

Anyone retrofitted air suspension? Or done a custom airbag setup?

Mounting the compressors in the footwell isn't too bad. Good isolation feet on them keep the drone down, (FYI, see my setup starting around Post #5 of this thread.) Try to upgrade from the3P system to the 3H system. These cars are heavy as hell so a 10-15 degree temperature difference will...

Case Study: Deer Strike in a MYP

Another update: The hood still hasn't been fixed but this one may be on me. I stopped by to get the hood replaced (again) and it has gone from replacement in a couple of hours to we need to keep your car at least a couple of days. Basically, it's a relatively new service center, they're...

Quick update... Went to the service center to have my hood replaced last Fri (03Jul). Turns out they had the correct hood but it was painted the wrong Tesla blue. I'm currently awaiting another hood (ETA 10Jul), then will have to wait another week or so for paint, then make my appt. I'm...

Case Study: Deer Strike in a MYP

I fell your pain. Just hit a deer about three weeks ago in my Model S. Was able to slow to about 25-30 mph at the at the time of impact. The worst part is everyone telling you that " I thought Teslas were smart." Yeah, but it's physically impossible to have a 0-foot stopping distance. There...

Funny... when I was looking for my car all I could find were those with air suspension (with the options that I wanted). And I definitely didn't want Tesla's or any other manufacturer's air suspension setup. When it comes to suspension and stereos, I've always liked my own better than any...

BearBu, I finally installed my setup. I've been using the HDMI interface alone for about a month and installed the 360 cameras over Labor Day weekend. The setup works great. I'll give the stitching an "A" even after the first calibration (and with wind blowing my cal sheets around :) ). So...

    Why? Because FITMENT!!!! :o)

Powdercoating is definitely the way to go if you're going for BEST. PlastiDip can range from GOOD to BETTER depending on the application. Then it also gives you the ability to remove it to try a different color if desired. Might be something to play around with on the second set of cyclones.
  47. tsmithlxix

    Why? Because FITMENT!!!! :o)

I'm aware of Tesla's wind tunnel testing and the effort they put into wheel design and wheel placement. No, it isn't me vs you. I guess in this case it's me vs Tesla. I purchased the Tesla and built MY car with the aesthetics that I like. If someone from Tesla is listening in and wants to...
