Not necessarily. I took delivery of a 2014 Model S in January 2015. It was a 2014 VIN when assigned. Car build date was Dec 20 2014

Tesla will honour the ULSC xfer if your original EDD was before 12/31 and was updated to afterwards.

Got my VIN this morning. '23 VIN. EDD 12/21-27. MS LR SG/White. Canadian delivery. I'm taking it because I want the USC xfer and will keep this car as long as my previous. Christmas gift for the family! 🎄🙂

Actually, that's a VERY good theory. When they calculate their Q4 total vehicles shipped to the street, their reporting could very well be based on 2023 models. Given the heavy focus on hitting those growth metrics, that's a very good hypothesis on why 23 VINS continue to be rolled out.

Oh wow. I ordered my MSLR (Stealth Grey / White) on Nov 6. My EDD updated today from 12/7-12/31 to 12/11-12/31. Look at the bright side: You're getting ambient lights + a front camera! lol

Nov 4 order date here. No VIN yet. EDD 12/7-12/31. My SA told me it wouldn't come until late December at the earliest, as they were shutting down the X/S lines for two weeks in November. That appears to be holding water based on lack of updates.

Thansk Ludatik - Your comments are inline with my expectations. I have a 200A service (and a pony panel - so lots of room). I was planning on using T90 wire in conduit and a 100A disconnect directly above/nearby the charger.
