    Beta FSD software rollout

I'm usually very patient with these updates. But I paid a lot of money 3 years ago for this moment, so I'm super frustrated that I didn't get the update. The worst part is, my car reset itself about a month ago trying to update, and I lost all my settings, plus didn't get updated. Haven't...

Locked in car [did not use manual release on door]

That's awful. You called the fire department and smashed a window because you didn't bother to read the manual. Or even look at the door of your car. Sorry it died, that truly does suck. But don't get all hysterical about how you could have died just because you didn't use the door handle.

Pressure Stress Crack or Impact on Windshield?

Be sure to get it repaired by Tesla with factory glass. I have State Farm, and while I've had my issues with them, they agreed to have it done by Tesla in the shop.

    Baby Seating Position

There's really no good reason to use the LATCH system, so I wouldn't let that impact your decision. The seatbelt that comes with the car is just as good, if not better. LATCH was only created because people kept installing the seats wrong. short article on the subject. Recommends using the...

That's good advice. Install it yourself if you can, otherwise it is a few bucks.

Accident for unable to brake efficiently: Tesla's or my fault? [early 2020]

I had the same experience, and was wondering if that's what happened here. I rarely use my brakes, but I am careful to use them at least once a week to keep them cleaned and working.

    Funniest Tesla Question Thread

My son asked me today if it was more dangerous to be in the Tesla during a lightning storm. He's 8, so I took it as a good opportunity to try and explain some concepts around high voltage electricity. I have been asked the 'does it charge the battery while driving' question. It's not really...

    USB Too Slow -TeslaCam

I was getting this error all the time. Then I unplugged my game controllers... error is gone. My guess is that the controllers were getting pressed and sending signals into the USB hub that everything is connected to. I'm interested if anyone else has had the same experience.

    Battery depletion in winter

I've had pretty bad Wh/mi in CT this winter. A lot of it is due to battery heating, so the first 10 miles or so of any trip are awful. If you do a bunch of short trips, you will get terrible efficiency. Absolutely love my car, but it is frustrating to drive a CA designed car in CT! I can't...

    Camera miscalibrated

I have the same issues, and my car shows itself farther left in the lane than it actually is. That said, when on autopilot, it is mostly centered in the lane (physically), and I have not had any issues with it trying to merge into cars. It still puts the blinker on at incredibly annoying...

How do you guys allocate your USB ports?

In one port, I have a portable charging pack that I use for all charging (wireless pads plus cables), because it can deliver higher amperage. In the other port, I have a USB hub for the dashcam and game controllers. It works great, but honestly it's a cluttered mess. There are some...

I know it will happen, because it will be the very first thing I do once they get this working! ;)

    How Smart are Teslas

I would ague that you don't need a tablet-sized interface. Smart cars in the future will have better user experience with easily accessible information. But hopefully not on a giant screen that you have to lean forward to reach. Also add robo-taxi capability. If that really catches on, it...

Question about Tires and need opinion...Got a Flat

10k is a terrible mileage to replace a tire. It's too much to really only do one, and too little to feel OK about doing 2. But I would suggest doing 2 tires, and keeping the 1 good one as a backup in case this happens again. Differently sized tires will cause a normal car to vibrate at higher...

Model 3 - Creaking Coming from the Front at Low Speeds

I've had this for a while. It just got bad this past week, though, so I'm going to schedule an appointment. Did anyone get this looked at? For me, it is very noticeable when accelerating or decelerating at low speeds... so stop and go traffic drives me nuts. Speed bumps also seem to bother...

    Design Flaw? White Interior

Yeah, that drives me nuts. If anyone has wrapped that piece on a white interior, I'd love to see pics. I can't find anything that I think would look nice.

    Winter Tires on Model 3

I got the Tesla ones. They came to my house to install them, and they worked great all winter. Honestly, $2k for 4 tires and wheels, mounted, balanced, and installed is pretty nice. Plus, I now have an extra set of Aero covers. ;)

At low speeds Model 3 is too quiet [Update: now solved with new pedestrian warning sounds]

I mostly agree with this. I've only had once incident so far where a pedestrian was an issue, and she was on her phone with her back to me. I pulled up, very slowly, until I was almost next to her, and she finally realized I was there. The look on her face was pretty funny... I like the idea...

    Front motor temporarily disabled?

I just had the same issue. Telsa support was able to diagnose it remotely. It is because the motor got confused while trying to get rid of excess heat, and is reset by getting out of the car and back in (don't just put it in park). He said they are working on a fix to the firmware bug.

    Power Reduced warning

Jerry from Milford service just called me. They pulled my logs remotely and found that this is a firmware bug where the front motor gets stuck in a mode of trying to dump waste heat. If I had exited the car (instead of just putting it in park) it would have cleared the issue. They will be...

    Power Reduced warning

I got a warning a couple of nights ago coming home from the airport: Power Reduced Front motor temporarily disabled It was on for the whole 2 hour ride home, which included stopping to park the car. The car was fine when I got out of the parking spot initially, but I charged at the free...

    Stuck in mud...recover from rear

I hope you find a good way out of this. One thing you can try is to tie a long rope to a tree (or car) and then feed it under the rear tire while it spins. A flat tow strap is better, if you have one.

Software Version 2018.50.6 - No new features

Try RainX. I did the whole windshield, minus the part where the cameras are. Made a big improvement in reducing my anger level at the auto-wiper issues!

    Model 3 Tire Pressure

I used to tune my classic Corvette by changing the tire pressures. It had a stiff rear suspension, so depending on tire pressure, I could bias towards understeer or oversteer. Lots of fun testing on Angel's Crest Highway. I was waiting for someone to note the cornering performance difference...

    Sudden Unexpected Acceleration today

I have seen this happen in ICE cars quite a few times. My wife had a habit of it in our Audi, but I've also seen it in cars without 'drive by wire'. People make mistakes when they get flustered... it happens.

    Wall connector installation

For key issues, I would suggest carefully considering cable management. I got the Tesla cable hook, but didn't leave myself quite enough room for the cable to be coiled easily. It's just an annoyance every time I use it (every day). Also, think about where you'll park, in all situations. I...

Are you OK with AutoPilot jail?

Press firmly to one side for about 2 seconds, but not so hard that it disengages. It seems to like that better than shaking or fast actions. What is is looking for (as I understand it) is the type of force that your hands will naturally exert on the steering wheel if left in a normal position...

    Version 42.3 update

I believe drive on nav will show up when it is available. From the short video, it didn't look like something you would see otherwise. I believe it is only available on major highways, and only in the US.

    Software Updated?

Good idea. If that doesn't work, I've heard that doing a factory reset on the router, then rebooting the display twice cuts wait time in half. Praying once a day will help, too. Light a candle and chant 'alset alset alset' each day at 4:20. When you get the cadence just right, the software...

    A.M. Radio

Some of the AM stations have a sister FM station that broadcasts the same content. But if you can't find it through that or the genres, try a radio app on your phone. TuneIn radio is one option, but there are lots of them. They do require that the station have a stream.

    Connecticut Delivery Process?

This is exactly why my new Tesla is sitting in my garage. For 5 days now. I am not willing to risk having it towed, since I don't trust the tow truck guy not to wreck it. thank you for the info on their process. That does help explain it, but not why I haven't received my plates, since they...

    Nighttime approach lighting

@IonEV has a frigging eye patch, dude. Yeah, he needs to get his 'eye' checked. SMH. And I completely agree that approach lighting would be great. I've been looking for this. I'm going to look into an aftermarket solution, but I'm not quite sure how to get it working without the Tesla...

    Steering wheel shake

I have had similar issues with a slight discrepancy in tire pressure. I noticed that it was worse when the tires were cold, and would then go away. This is common on AWD cars, though I'm surprised to see it in the Tesla, since the front and rear wheels are not directly connected.

    Connecticut Delivery Process?

Thanks @CCIE . I just called them, and they were very pleasant, but there isn't much they can do. The process, which I don't fully understand, sounds like it just made it to the DMV yesterday. So, not it's out of their hands, but clearly they weren't on top of this earlier. I was assured...

    Connecticut Delivery Process?

I took delivery of my Model 3 about a month ago from Mt. Kisco. Still have not received the plates, and the temp expires this weekend. Anyone else in the same boat? BTW, when I left there, the mapping tried to take me down a bunch of dirt roads. I would double-check with Waze before you leave!

    Vehicle coolant low

The service centers are hard to get ahold of, but call the national number and wait on hold. You should report that one immediately, since that coolant is what keeps the batteries healthy and long lived. @comanchepilot is probably right that it's a sensor, but if it really is low, you want it...

    Autopilot calibration after alignment

Update: I called the SC, got transferred to national customer service. They called the SC, but wouldn't let me talk to them. I was promised a call back, which I never received, to let me know how they would fix it. Possibly over the air. On the way home last night, I decided to try...

    Autopilot calibration after alignment

Thanks for the info, @outdoors . It actually was the Milford CT Tesla service center. I would have thought that they knew to force a recalibrate. I tried to call them, but kept getting the phone tree run-around. Maybe I'll try again, because I agree that 5 weeks is unacceptable!

    Autopilot calibration after alignment

I just got my model 3 AWD last week. It came with the steering wheel misaligned by about 10 degrees. Unfortunately, autopilot calibrated with it like that After an alignment this week, autopilot jerka the car violently to the right when I turn it on It seems to me that it is putting the...
