How do you guys allocate your USB ports?

I'd like to be able to charge two phones, but also have a USB to record dashcam and sentry footage. I only have 2 USB ports in the front, though.

Should i get a splitter for the phones and plug the USB in directly? Use the back USB for the second phone? What do you guys recommend?

We have two splitters on the front and a wireless charging pad.
We also have a USB charging cable from the 12v port in the center console, so the passenger can use a phone while charging.

Note: To do this and still use the tray, you need a low profile USB plug for the 12v adapter.

We leave the rear USB ports for rear passengers.

I use and like these better than a hub, which I also tried. The connectors with the thinner wires just have power and can be used for charging phones while the thicker ones are full USB and can take your USB drives for music and dashcam.

Edit: I just saw the note they've added about the splitter not charging iOS devices properly. I haven't actually tested that and wasn't aware of the problem.

In one port, I have a portable charging pack that I use for all charging (wireless pads plus cables), because it can deliver higher amperage.
In the other port, I have a USB hub for the dashcam and game controllers.

It works great, but honestly it's a cluttered mess. There are some aftermarket products that would help, I just haven't gotten there yet.

I got the Jeda hub which was genius (if a little pricey imo) until it stopped charging the phones. It's still a hub, but support from Jeda have gone quiet on me since I answered all their troubleshooting questions so the jury is out on this being the hands-down-best-solution for the moment. Certainly the concept is brilliant - the additional ports does mean I have the T5 SSD hidden in the panel, two wireless games controller interfaces permanently plugged into the two USB-A slots, and that leaves two USB-C for phone charging.

As it stands today though I'm charging either from an Anker power bank, or leaving the phone in the cupholder and running a cable to one of the rear ports. The T5 and games controllers still work great...

Slot 1- 128GB Samsung FIT Plus USB key for teslacam exclusively.

Slot 2- 4 port USB hub that was recommended here and was like 10 bucks on amazon. Into that are plugged both iphone charging cables for the factory charging dock locations, and a 256GB Samsung BAR Plus USB key filled with about 200GB of high quality music.

All works great for over a year now

The phones don't charge SUPER fast, but I have no need for them to do so as I've got chargers at home and work anyway so all they're really there for are to keep phones charged during a long road trip.... (and for emergencies I have a 12vtoUSB fast charger plug in the center console in case, I dunno, I pick up some billionaire supermodel hitchhiker willing to do anything to charge her phone quickly something)

Similar to Knightshade here. Usb hub (cheapo anker I think) into left port, with both wires from the Nomad wireless charger plugged into it, and my dashcam ssd. Right port is the music ssd exclusively. My priorities are for better music performance than dashcam/sentry, and i've got another outboard dashcam system anyway. I've got one leftover port in the hub in case I ever feel the need to plug in my game controller, which I very rarely do.

USB Port 1: Anker USB hub. Has two Bluetooth dongles plugged in for XBox controllers (beach buggy racing is so much fun!)
USB Port 2: JetDrive SSD for TeslaCam

I also installed one of these in the console to power my Nomad charging mat, Echo Auto and anything else I may need. I drilled a small hole in the side of the console to pass thru the power cable from the 12V outlet up to where this sits:

The power cable that came with the USB Charger was too short for how I wanted it installed. So I replaced it with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0746GPQH3/ and this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L5GB34N

It’s a great setup. The built in USB ports only have “data” devices plugged in, and then I have 6 high power USB ports for anything that “just” needs power.

how'd you get the power into the console under the armrest? did you drill two holes or pass it in to the 12v outlet some other way?

mine:
driver side phone dock directly into the left USB port. right USB port has a hub which powers both my echo auto and the passenger phone dock charger, plus one flash drive for both music and dash cam. has worked well so far, but the passenger charger is painfully slow...i'm trying to figure out a better option for when i install the taptes charging mat i'm ordering.

I only needed to drill one hole in the front compartment. Once you pull the trim off (really easy) - right next to the 12V outlet is a small rubber grommet. That comes out and there’s enough room in the “gap” it leaves to pass the power cable through.

The replacement power cable I linked to above fits through there *perfectly*!

I’m so thankful you posted this. I was going to order the hub, but between the price, the current 3 week back order, and the (to me) arrogance of Jeda to not have a real holiday discount code available turned me off.

If it doesn’t work properly AND they aren’t responding in a timely manner it’s a hard no for me. It’s still a sweet looking setup though.
