I'm having the same problem and a reboot has not solved this issue. Any advice?

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

Just a heads up to anyone traveling through here, the fuses have been updated and the charger is good to go at the full 80 amps! Hope this comes in handy for some people!

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

I've been told the charger is currently working, but charging is limited to 60 amps due to the old fuse style. We've been in touch with both Chiriaco Summit and Tesla and the unit should have the upgraded fuses within a few weeks to provide glorious full charging!

Good paint armor installer in Los Angeles?

I just got a scratch buffed out at Dirty Devil Customs in Sherman Oaks, located at Ventura and Beverly Glen and saw that he does paint armor installation as well. He does great work and is reasonably priced, and I would absolutely recommend them.

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

Already done! It also looks like we've had our first person stop by to charge! I was emailed a photo from Chiriaco Summit of some proud owners of a Blue Model S who stopped by to charge while driving across the country! I won't post the photo unless the owner would like, but glad to hear the...

Pics! (In the large gray box) Wide shot of antique gas station where it's mounted. Just speak with the main gas station attendant across the street and he'll hand you this key! Can't wait to hear someone's first report of using it! I've also added it to the plug share and recargo maps...

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

IT'S UP! IT'S UP AND RUNNING!!! I just got the call that they got the charger up and running! I guess their supplies came in! It's at Chiriaco Summit, and to use it just go to the gas station counter and ask. They may charge $10 or so. The charger itself is located at the old gas...

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

I spoke with the people at Chiriaco and sadly they said to give them a month to get it together. Hopefully it will be sooner, but they seem to be a bit slow getting supplies out that way.

I'm working with Rob Reiner this week and noticed he drives a Black Model S with the 19" wheels.

    22 inch wheels

You can probably expect a harsher ride and a slight decrease in range. The ride harshness will probably be the most noticeable change with the thin sidewalks you will inevitably end up with.

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

Not that I've heard, but that would be great! As far as I'm aware, though, it's not even on the 5 year plan.

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

It may be possible, depending on how quickly their maintenance guy installs it, but of course I wouldn't 100% count on it to the point that your trip depends on it. I would say that there is a pretty good chance it will be ready, though; it seems to be a fairly straightforward installation. My...

Help me build a serious charging network from Los Angeles to Phoenix!

Just a quick update, my HPWC finally arrived this week and I'm planning to deliver it for installation on Easter weekend! I've also spoken to several people at Tesla and they have confirmed the Blythe supercharger coming later this year, so this will make a nice gap filler for those of us whom...

    Car Care: @#)$(*!% Curb rash...

You are aware that alloy gators are a one size, fits all item, correct? You just trim them down to fit your wheel size (even on 21" wheels they require some trimming).

    Random Model S sightings

I think I spotted EfxJim coming out of Universal last week! It was a Dolphin Grey Model S, and I think I remember him posting that he works there. I was right behind him in my white MSP and tried to catch up as I was leaving for the day, but traffic thwarted my efforts.

    Car Care: @#)$(*!% Curb rash...

I did mine without taking the wheels off. I did, however, deflate the tires, and I would say the rubber mallet (or equivalent, like a dead blow) is absolutely mandatory.

Parcel shelf (pic) and CF spoiler - FINALLY!

I've found it's quite easy to install if you look underneath at the track it goes on while you put it in, rather than working blindly from the top.

New Jalopnik hit piece? Fair and balanced?

Well, they quoted me and I prepared a reply, but I'm on my phone and despite creating an account and attempting to log in repeatedly, I can't post my reply and there doesn't seem to be any way to exit the mobile interface. Here's the reply I prepared:

I noticed the dot on the supercharger 5 year plan near Kingman, but didn't notice anything near Blythe (or anything along the 10, for that matter). Where did you hear these wonderful rumors?

I have them and made the OP about them in the curb rash thread. A bit of elbow grease to install but I highly recommend them. I've curbed them once and they did their job beautifully.

Alas, new problem: Windshield Stress Fracture. Anyone else?

    Firmware 4.2

Ah, upon looking at the notes, I think I had the one before 4.0 since my car never had sleep mode. So is there no way to see projected miles on the small screen with 4.2? Also, I like to keep my screens set to daytime at all times. I noticed that the system no longer remembers my settings...

    Firmware 4.2

Just got the update today, from 4.0. I may have missed this, but what happened to the rated vs projected bar that goes next to the speedo? It doesn't show up as an option, and I miss it! I think I looked at it more than anything else, and I relied on it to drive economically. Am I missing...

Tires for 21" w/ raised wheel guards?

I do indeed have the grey wheels and got the black gators. You can see pics in the thread linked above. If I had silver wheels, I would have probably still gotten the black since it blends perfectly with the color of the tires for a stealthier install. It may make the rims look a tiny bit...

You HAD to ask, didn't you?? :cursing: Thankfully, the Gators did their job and the wheels are as good as new. I used the included tool that came with the Gators to trim off the rash and managed to smooth it out a bit, but it certainly doesn't look brand new. Still, only noticeable if you...

Mine is tan and I've been extremely happy with it! - - - Updated - - - I would imagine so, but they take a bit of learning to install. I received the black ones. I would imagine this would be the most stealthy choice for any rim color since it will match the color of the tire. Here are a few quick pics I snapped during my lunch break, hope these give a better idea of how they look:

    Car Care: @#)$(*!% Curb rash...

Looks like an easy installation (WAY less of a PITA than what I went through!), but I'd be skeptical about how much protection they provide. After all the hammering my alloy gators took, I'm VERY confident that they will hold up to a curb. The alloy gators site also has videos of a car rubbing...

Should EVs Make Artificial Sounds at Low Speeds?

Agreed, if a pre-1970 car can still drive around without a catalytic converter, it would be pretty ridiculous for an EV retrofitted noisemaker to be required.

I'll try to remember to take more pics after work. For the hammering, I just used a rubber mallet and a dead blow hammer, neither left any marks on the wheels (just don't hit the body of the car!) - - - Updated - - - I did have to jack the car. I just used my 2 ton floor jack that I already...

Tires for 21" w/ raised wheel guards?

I got some alloy gators for xmas this year and just managed to install them. You can buy them online at Alloy Wheel Repairs, Protection, Refurbishment, Cleaning & Polishing. The install involved a lot of HEAVY hammering; it's not as easy as the video on their site makes it look, but I'm really...
