    2020.48.x

In previous versions the 3-up camera display covered the whole top status bar so they duplicated the passenger airbag status within the rear camera so it was always visible (probably due to some law). Obviously should be removed now since there's no longer any case where it will be covered. I'm...

Software update 2020.48.26.x update, font size problems

Source Reddit Post IMO there are so many things to nitpick here and not worth listing. If it wasn't for the old AP visualization one might think the bottom is the before image. I honestly think the team that did the original design would be pissed off. You can see there was a lot of thought and...

    It's the Tuesday before Christmas!

I agree. I've been keeping a watch out on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for app updates. Not feeling too confident since the previous releases I've seen on the Play store have been multi-day staged rollouts. The sentry cam stream feature seems quite likely and I don't see any other...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

Couple new beta testers posting their first videos. Glad to see someone from Illinois now. Will be interesting when we actually get snow here (and the other midwest states). My vote goes to @n.one.one to be included in the beta group as reward for keeping this thread up-to-date!

Waymo Says Its Self-Driving Tech Is More Advanced Than Tesla FSD, Others

This is one of the most interesting Waymo rides I've seen with a busy parking lot and a pretty decent amount of traffic. Most of the action is at the beginning at the front of a busy parking lot followed by the exit with a lane merge. The rest of the drive is pretty typical and uneventful...

FSD Beta Videos (and questions for FSD Beta drivers)

This guy is gonna be the first to have an accident with beta FSD. All the others that have posted appear to understand the responsibility of testing beta software. Hands no where near the wheel on narrow streets. We've seen what it does in similar conditions with Brandon's videos. It's great to...

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

New FSD beta 2020.40.8.13 going out to the testing group: https://twitter.com/arctechinc/status/1324897188384632832 So far Elon's tweet about updates every 5-10 days is on schedule.

FSD rewrite will go out on Oct 20 to limited beta

The SoC’s sync with each other 20 to 30 times/sec, exchanging output of NNs that should be in harmony, like a symphony, so it’s fairly obvious when one is discordant I'm interested in knowing what's being compared in this exchanging of outputs. There's so much noise watching the visualization...

Might be the Traffic Light and Stop Sign control for Canada update. Elon tweeted it would be released today: https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1269182713421893634

    Stickers on painted rear calipers?

I like the contrast of the lettering on the rear caliper. Of corse what GreenHokie mentioned it's all personal preference. The smaller letting in the vinyl kits fit pretty well. Though I wouldn't recommend applying the lettering vinyl without sanding down the casting marks first. It's probably...

    VMR V710FF 19" Wheels

Yep, stock suspension. Rear side angle makes the gap look pretty large.

    VMR V710FF 19" Wheels

2 years later after TDave's original post these are still some of the best looking aftermarket wheels IMO. Installed my summer setup this weekend. Thanks everyone for all the pictures and info. I stuck close to stock with 19x8.5 ET35 235/40/19. I ordered these beginning of the year so I had a...

2020.8.1 Another useless update for most of us

Thanks for the update. I pretty much ignore any of their claims unless some reliable source is cited. Their 'unpaid interns' seem to be quite trigger happy

Yet another unsubstantiated claim from thridrowtesla.

My #1 Feature Request Category: Parking

I agree for sure. I think that 'assist' word is discounted and not taken to heart by most. It's still secondary to you. Autopark curbed your wheel, nope 100% still your fault.

My #1 Feature Request Category: Parking

It's a slippery slope with driver assist features. You could say the same about Autopilot as well. Why do we need blind spot monitoring, just adjust your mirrors correctly. There are people who park like **** and just don't care but there are also people who do actually try but lack the spacial...

My #1 Feature Request Category: Parking

I've come to realize almost all my feature requests revolve around parking. I'm not sure if Tesla is banking on autonomy making all this manual human parking old news or if they feel the current feature set checks the relevant boxes and is good enough. I will say though the rear camera...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Which blue caliper paint did you use? Looks awesome! Is that a single coat of clear on top?

    Music skips on bumps

Found this in the parts catalog 1100843-00-F PREMIUM CD-ROM ESP (+5 SEC) UPGRADE $179.95 (just kidding) I've seen on Android a charging paused error when it gets bumped very rarely. Maybe there's a similar alert on iOS when it gets into a weird state?

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

That's true. I could also see the current failover of putting the hazards on and coming to a complete stop. Especially for 3-way intersections or roundabouts where there's no straight or safe path and require some negotiation to take place.

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

Yeah I agree. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the transition. If they can get it to a point where the monitoring requirements can be set to much larger intervals then torque monitoring would still be valuable as a crude driver check-in.

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

The only other option I can think of some really unintuitive time based stuff. Like torque detected within 30 seconds of maneuver if not, abort before performing maneuver. Followed by no torque detected within 5 seconds of maneuver, if torque detected, display warning about upcoming high radial...

Elon: "Feature complete for full self driving this year"

I was thinking about how wheel torque driver monitoring isn't feasible for automatic driving on city streets/city NOA given the large turning degree required. How is a driver supposed to keep their hands on the wheel during a 90 deg right hand turn? Is there going to be an alert before any large...

Just passed 50k miles on the OEM 19" Continentals

Congrats on getting 50k out of them! Have you noticed them getting any louder as they weared? I'm at a little over 30k with between 5-6 32nds left and driving around 20-40mph they're much louder than I remember.

When does the CA DMV autonomous driving report come out?

I wonder how much of these other companies miles are required in order to gather data? I guess it would make sense for them to gather data AND test at the same time. Tesla's biggest advantage is their fleet gathering data with over 2 billion miles logged. If you look at it purely from total...

    Dumb summon crash

Supposedly there's been issues with visual objects being detected in the front corners on recent firmwares. I'm on 2020.4.1 and when I'm at a stoplight, cars in adjacent lanes slightly in front me won't show on the IC. Still doesn't explain why ultrasonics didn't pick it up, unless the response...

    Autopilot getting worse

I recently got HW3 retrofit installed on my Model 3 and have had some concerning AP behavior. In the morning I'm traveling south so if the sun is out, it's shining directly into the drivers side B pillar camera. There's only been 2 mornings so far since getting HW3 installed where the sun it...

    Tesla autopilot HW3

A new presentation by Andrej Karpathy with content on Smart Summon and some insight in combining data from multiple cameras. Pretty interesting to see more detail on the Smart Summon app view.

MASTER THREAD: all Smart Summon-related posts go here

I originally considered Smart Summon to be using satellite images to generate the planned path shown in the app, but it didn’t make sense why it worked for some lots and not others. After checking OpenStreetMaps and Google Maps, I’d have to guess the path planner is actually using the available...

    Model S REST API

@SG57, thanks so much for testing this out and posting the details! Could you possibly test holding one of the seats for a few seconds and see if it hits a different endpoint? I saw someone mention that it restored the previous set levels which makes me think it's a different command being sent...
