    Roadster loose / creaking seat

I found a potential safety issue while tracking down a creaking noise in my driver's seat. I have a 2.0 Roadster but I suspect the seat mounting is the same on all Roadsters. Each front seat is mounted on a pair of rails, with each rail having a short aluminum extension at the front that raises...

Model 3 performance degradation w/ battery degradation?

I have a 2010 Roadster with 50,000+ miles that has lost approximately 1/4 of its rated range. The battery's CAC shows a similar 25% drop from when new. My zero to sixty time is noticeably slower, now around 5 seconds, compared to 3.9 when new. This may or may not translate to M3, just...

    tjllew Roadster Roadtrips

I still take my Roadster on at least one good road trip per year, usually around 800-1000 miles, plus a few more in the 250 - 500 mile range. Best advice I can give is to get both of Henry's adapters and also take the Roadster's original charging cables (120V and 240V). This gives you multiple...

Head lights not coming on when wipers are on

Just noticed this yesterday while driving in the rain. Drove about 600 miles yesterday and today, most of it in the rain, and it’s definitely a pain to have to manually turn on the lights each time you start out. That’s assuming that you remember that you now need to turn them on manually. And...

T Sportline 20" turbine style wheels for Model X

I bought my first set after I saw a set of gray ones on a gray Model S. Thought it was the best wheel / color combo I had ever seen on a Tesla.

T Sportline 20" turbine style wheels for Model X

Interesting, good to know. The original invoice is attached so you can see exactly what they are. From looking at T-Sportlines web site it looks like you're right and the wheels should fit. Tires are 255/45R20 front and 275/45R20 rear.

T Sportline 20" turbine style wheels for Model X

I have a set of these 20 wheels in metallic gray with the original Michelin Latitude Sport 3 tires for sale. Tires have about 15K miles on them and look like they're good for about another 10K. Wheels are in just about perfect shape, zero curb rash, and include TPMS and original Tesla center...

    Acceleration Shudder

I had the same problem in November at around 8000 miles, vibration and low-pitched "growling" noise under heavy acceleration. The service center replaced both front halfshafts, but noted that the vibration was still present and escalated the matter to engineering. The vibration was much...

    The 12 Volt Battery

I just did a quick search to find some instructions on how to replace the 12 volt battery. Read through the whole post before realizing that I was the one who posted it back in 2012 :) Looks like I got about 3½ years out of the Batteries + replacement, and 3½ years for the original.

Hitch receiver won't lock in place

My symptom was that the receiver was not locking fully into place. According to the manual when you insert the receiver the lock cylinder will retract and rotate into the locked position, at which time you can turn the key to the locked position and remove the key. Mine would START to retract...

    Phone blind holster tip

This is my very low-tech fix to keep my phone from flopping forward when I accelerate. Since none of the adapters fit my phone I had to improvise. One small strip of Velcro does the job.

Hitch receiver won't lock in place

I tried a thin coat of grease, also tried to tap in in with a soft mallet, no help. It looks like it's all the way seated into the "V" but it won't quite lock. I need to go to the service center anyway so I guess I'll let them sort it out.

Hitch receiver won't lock in place

Has anyone else with the tow package had a problem getting their hitch receiver to lock into place? Mine will ALMOST lock in, the white dot is barely in the green area, but the locking cylinder doesn't completely retract and the key can't be turned to the lock position. It looks like it's all...

Hi Evan - Sorry for the slow reply, it's been a little crazy here lately. I'll get pictures of the other wheels to you later today. I think you're going to like them, they looked great on my car. I just got the set for my Model X installed yesterday and it's a HUGE improvement over the...

    Wheels for sale!

I traded in my 3½ year old Model S a couple of months ago when I took delivery of my new Model X. It was tough, Signature #88, but I did it. I will never buy 21" tires again

After 2½ years and 30K miles three of my four original 21" wheels were bent. And the 21" wheels were only on the car half of the time, my 19" wheels with all-season tires were on the rest of the time. I picked up a set of the T Sportline 19" turbine wheels a couple of months ago and so far...

    Supercharger - Lafayette, IN

Nobody was working on the Lafayette Supercharger when I stopped by today. It looks finished, the only thing I noticed was the access covers on the streetlights were off and the wiring was exposed. Just for the hell of it I backed in and tried to charge. No big surprise, I got a "No wall...

    Supercharger - Lafayette, IN

Stopped by again at about 6:30 tonight and they were still working on the Lafayette Superchargers. They had the covers off of several of the pedestals. The guys working on them didn't look like they wanted to be bothered so I didn't ask any questions.

    New Roadster Goodies for 2014

400 mile battery pack Has anyone heard anything else about this? Tesla Model 3 to challenge BMW 3 Series - World Exclusive | Auto Express Scroll down to the end of the story where they mention a new generation battery pack for the Roadster.

    New Roadster Goodies for 2014

Exactly. Getting 70 miles of range per hour might seem slow compared to Supercharging but it's triple what we get from a typical public level 2 charger. An 8 hour stop turns into a less than 3 hour stop. Not ideal but a huge improvement.

8/3 - Indy to Normal SC lunch trip

    The 12 Volt Battery

I just replaced mine today. It's a pretty simple job, remove the right front wheel, then remove the access panel that's secured with (I think) 8 bolts and 3 nuts. There are a total of 4 bolts at the top, 2 that are obvious and 2 more a little farther up. I found it to be a bit easier to...

KwH for full range mode charge

I got home from a road trip on Saturday with zero miles of range left. I had to take another relatively long trip on Sunday so I needed to charge in range mode. I've got a separate meter for the Model S NEMA 14-50 so this seemed like a good opportunity to see exactly how much energy it takes...

    Michigan Tesla Owners

Visiting Ann Arbor I'll be in Ann Arbor for my brother's birthday party on Friday (7/5). Last time I was there it seemed like the best charging option was at the DTE building downtown, one of the few public chargers I've used that cranks out 240 volts. Any quicker options that I've missed...

    Supercharger - Normal, IL

Haven't heard a thing. The map was my first clue that there might be one near Lafayette. Probably the most logical spot would be at the SR26 exit off of I65, lots of restaurants and shopping.

    Supercharger - Normal, IL

I had the same problem on the 27th, got the message "Unable to Supercharge, unplug and try again" on my dash when trying to charge at 2A and 2B. No problem at 1B. I also let Tesla know. I was seeing 300 miles of range per hour, but my car is set to display ideal mileage.

I couldn't wait, drove over to Normal on Thursday. Backed in to 1A, plugged in, and got the message "Unable to Supercharge, unplug and try again" on my dash. Hmmm. Tried a couple more times, same thing. So I tried the next one over (1B). Same thing. Time to call Tesla roadside service...

    Washing tip

I've washed my Model S several times now and I'm a little surprised that I didn't think of this before: Set the suspension to very high and jack mode before washing the car. You can clean in the wheel wells better, the bottom is easier to clean, and in general you don't have to stoop down...

    Homelink

Finally got Homelink working. As a last resort I found the owner's manual for the opener. When the car says to push the learn button on the opener you actually have to push the learn button twice. The opener is a LiftMaster 8360. BTW I could never get the car to learn the original remote...
