Hey guys! I need to replace the seal that goes around the fixed glass roof and I'm seeing 2 part numbers for apparently the same part. Does anyone know what's the difference between the two?
I recall reading that in that model year they changed the sunroof design. I also remember reading that Tesla doesn't stock parts for the old design anymore. You'd have to get it from a junk yard or upgrade to the newer one. I think you can tell if you have the older or newer design from the latches on the applique.
The procedure for the older design is pretty bad. It involves a lot of glue and a lot of scraping. This video I think is for the newer design since the older design didn't have appliques that would pop off. You pretty much had to buy new ones.
Yep you won’t be able to repair a seal on a gen 1 roof, it will need to be upgraded to gen 2. You can tell which one you have by the location of the roof rack mounting caps.
