They just make stuff up. I have two model 3's and the second -- bought months later -- receives updates at least a week earlier than the first.

True. 20.1 was pushed to me on Wednesday, I took delivery 6 days prior. I did have Advanced updates on though.

I think this release broke my dash cam. I reformatted the drive and still doesn't work.

Car is now installing the next release.

Since the update, the Energy app now shows a blank page titled “Trip” and advises me to start a trip with navigation to estimate my energy usage. What happened to the real time graph and range estimates?

Thanks Wado, I must have accidentally tapped the “Trip” tab while trying to hit the Sentry Mode icon. I prefer my screen in night mode and the only drawback for me is the lack of contrast in some of the menu text and (obviously) the tab names.

A hash function computed over your VIN and various other details (location, car options etc) most likely. Almost certainly age is not one of the inputs, however.

Yeah, I am thinking age of the car (low vin) may not matter either. The Advanced setting doesn't seem to do anything as well as both our Model 3s got the last update at the same time, one was set to Standard and the other Advanced.
